可数名词都有单数和复数之分；不可数名词没有复数形式，前面没有数词和不定冠词。
1. 可数名词有单数和复数两种形式：
★规则可数名词单复数变化形式
情况 构成方法 例词 读音
一般情况 在词尾加+s map→ maps -s 清辅音后发 /s/
day→ days -s 元音和浊辅音后/z/
以s，x，ch，sh结尾的词 在词尾加+es watch→ watches -es 发 /iz/ 音
以辅音字母+ y结尾的词 变y为i再加+es party→ parties -ies 发 /iz/ 音
以f或fe结尾的词 变f/fe为v再加+es knife→ knives
life→ lives -ves发 /vz/音
以o 结尾的词 有生命在词尾加+es potato→ potatoes
tomato→ tomatoes 发 /z/ 音
无生命在词尾加+s photo → photos
★名词复数的不规则变化
man —men, woman—women, child—children, foot—feet, tooth—teeth, mouse—mice
单复数同形的名词有：fish, sheep, deer, Chinese, Japanese
单数形式但其意为复数的名词有:people, police等
Attention:
fish 的复数有两种即“fish”和“fishes”，fish 强调鱼, fishes 鱼的种类
e.g. There are many kinds of fishes in that lake.
2. 不可数名词
物质名词和抽象名词一般为不可数名词，因此用单数形式。对于初一学生来说，记住不可数名词后不可-s/ -es，前面不能出现数词以及不定冠词a/ an.

名词所有格是表示所属关系，相当于物主代词，在句中作定语、宾语或主语。七年级要求掌握的是：
1. 单数名词的所有格只需在词后加's
Eg: This is Gina’s schoolbag.
2. 某物为两个名词共有时，所有格形式应在第二个名词后加's
Eg: Nick and Dick's father is a doctor. （两个人共有，同一个爸爸）
比较：
Nick's and Dick's fathers are both doctors. （两个人爸爸是不同的）
3. 所有格表示节日
Teachers’ Day 教师节 Children’s Day 儿童节
注意：除了父亲节和母亲节，其他节日我们都用名词复数的所有格表示，因为爸爸妈妈每个人就只有一个所以不用复数。

5. 双重所有格：即of＋'s或of＋名词性物主代词
