Anna Brown was an artist who believed that it was important to help others. When she heard of a summer camp for children with serious illnesses, she came up with an idea. It cost money for these kids to go to the camp, so Anna decided to see what she could do to help. It was impossible for her to donate (捐赠) a lot of money, so she had to think of another way.

Many kids do housework such as doing the dishes, making the bed, and folding the clothes. In exchange, they get some money or other computer time. Paying kids for housework is one of the most popular topics, especially at a time when everyone is more careful about money. Some parents think since adults are paid to do their jobs, we should pay kids for everyday housework.
But some people don’t think kids should get rewards(报酬) for doing housework. Susie Walton, an expert, believe that by rewarding kids, parents are sending a message that work isn’t worth doing unless you get something in return. “Running any kind of housework is a team effort,” Walton said. “A home is a living space for everyone in the family. It’s important for kids to see that we all have responsibilities in the house, and families decide how they want their home to look, and how they are going to keep it looking like what they want.”
Other people believe that getting a reward encourages kids to do housework, and it also teaches them real world lessons about how we need to work to get money. There are also apps(程序) that gives kids points and digital gifts that can be redeemed(兑现) either online or in the real world. “Our goal is to give kids lawful power so they can get rewards,” says Chris Bergman. “And kids need rewards to help encourage them. ”

What would it be like if you could only use one hand Every year, 1,500 babies are born in the U.S. without their arms. Many more children lose hands in accidents.
Some of these children can use man-made arms or hands. These are called prosthetics (假肢). They cost thousands of dollars. As kids grow, they need new, bigger ones. Over time, the cost adds up. Many families cannot afford it. This is a problem.
________. Some of the volunteers are students. At a school in Virginia, a group of sixth-graders worked in teams, printing prosthetics in their science class. They are using 3-D printers (打印机) to make prosthetics. These printers are not common printers. They print with plastic (塑料). In 90 minutes, the class can finish making about nine prosthetics.
Taylor Green, a student from the school, seemed amazed by the 3-D printed hand. She said it is “pretty cool” to be able to make a hand for a kid in need.
The students work with a nonprofit group (非盈利组织) called e-NABLE. It has 16 designs for 3-D printed hands. The prosthetic hands are made from everyday materials (材料), like plastic, fishing line, velcro (尼龙拉链) and screws (螺丝钉). A hand can be made for less than $50, as long as you have a 3-D printer. Then the hands go to children in need all over the world.
A 10-year-old boy in New Mexico first received the hand they made. He was born without a left hand. The boy is a huge fan of Denver Broncos (a name of a football team in America), so the students made his prosthetic with the team’s colors: orange and blue.
Using a 3-D printer is a very cheap way to make prosthetics. Lieberman, the students’ science teacher said there is also one big advantage. “If the hand they made for a child is the wrong size, we can adjust (调整) it or send him or her another one,” Lieberman said.
36.Paragraph 2 mainly talks about the ________ of the prosthetics.
A.shape B.color C.history D.disadvantage
37.Which of the following sentences can be put in the ________.
A.Now the science teachers are giving them a hand
B.Now volunteers in the world are stepping up to help
C.Now volunteers are teaching them to use prosthetics
D.Now scientists are inventing a new kind of prosthetics
38.Why is 3-D printer a cheap way to make prosthetics
A.The e-NABLE is a group which never needs profit.
B.Students who make the 3-D printed hands work there for free.
C.Many people give away plastics, fishing line, Velcro and screws
D.They use the cheap materials which are used in daily life.
39.From the passage we can learn that ________.
A.many families can’t afford the 3-D printed hands because they cost a lot
B.students print the prosthetics with materials that cost more than $50
C.the boy in New Mexico has received the orange and blue hand
D.the printed hand has to be thrown away if it is too big for a child

Besides, I will exercise one hour everyday to keep healthy. Once, both of my parents were on a business trip, so I had to take care of myself. Through this incident, I learned how to cook.
She wanted to take advantage of her love of art. So she started making and selling beautiful cards to raise money for these kids. Because these cards were all handmade, it would take her a long time to make a lot of them. So Anna had another idea. She started inviting friends to her house to help her make the cards. At first her friends were hesitant. Many said that they were not artistic and didn’t know how to make cards. But once they saw the beautiful materials that she had in her workroom, her friends felt more comfortable doing things such as drawing and cutting in order to make a new card.
But the materials were expensive. To make money without spending money, Anna asked for and got donations of paper, glue, scissors, and other things from nearby stores.

38.Why is 3-D printer a cheap way to make prosthetics
A.The e-NABLE is a group which never needs profit.
B.Students who make the 3-D printed hands work there for free.
C.Many people give away plastics, fishing line, Velcro and screws
D.They use the cheap materials which are used in daily life.
39.From the passage we can learn that ________.
A.many families can’t afford the 3-D printed hands because they cost a lot

C.the boy in New Mexico has received the orange and blue hand
