4.When an earthquake has ended, be careful because aftershocks(余震) may still happen. These are just as dangerous as the earthquake itself. So stay under the desk until you make sure it’s safe to get up.

The connection between sleep and academic performance(学业成绩) has been known for a while. Most studies on this topic simply require students to get enough sleep. But a new study shows that it’s not just about how long you sleep, but also about sleeping regularly(规律地).
In a study of teenagers from across the US, Gina Mathews and her team looked at different aspects(方面) of sleep. 1.______ For example, one teen might always go to bed at 11:00 and wake up at 6:00. Another teen might sleep at 11:00 one night and wake up at 6:00, and then might sleep at 12:30 the next night and wake up at 7:30. Even though both teens sleep for about seven hours each day, the second teen’s academic performance can be poorer.
2. _________ The researchers found that teens with more irregular sleep are often in a worse mood(心情). And the bad mood often brings different behavioral(行为的) problems, finally causing poor academic performance at school.
This study isn’t the first to show the importance of a regular sleep. 3. _________ Why does having a regular sleep matter so much Scientists used to think that only our brain controls when we sleep and wake up. But now they know that other parts of the body also have their own timing systems. When we don’t sleep regularly, it messes up these timing systems. 4. _________ So, to have excellent academic performance, you have to get enough sleep and sleep regularly.
A.Other studies have found similar results. B.Students who don’t sleep regularly are often unhealthy. C.And that can influence our mood, attention and behavior. D.They wanted to see how these aspects influence their grades at school. E.Here’s the reason why teens with irregular sleep can’t do well at school.
