Life today is much easier than it was hundreds of years ago, but has brought new problems. One of the biggest
problems is pollution. Pollution comes in many ways. We see it, smell it, drink it and even hear it.
Men have been polluting the earth. Many years ago, the pollution was not so serious because there were not so
many people. When the land was used up or the river was dirty in one place, men moved to another place.
Air pollution is now the most serious. Air makes people sick. And lots of people now are trying to use
something to clear the air. Water pollution kills our fish and pollutes our drinking water. Noise pollution makes us
become angry more easily.
Many countries are making rules to fight air pollution. They stop people from burning coal in houses and
factories in the city, and from putting dirty smoke into the air.
Pollution by SO2 is now the most dangerous kind of air pollution. It is caused by heavy traffic. It is true that if
there are fewer people driving, there will be less air pollution.
Although most of the pollution is caused by us, we are the ones who can change the situation. The earth is our
home. We must take care of it. And we must pay more attention to the information in pollution at the same time.
24. What is one of the biggest problems today
A. Noise. B. Pollution. C. Population.
25. Why was pollution less serious many years ago
A. There were fewer people. B. People were more careful. C. Pollution laws were stricter.
26. What can we infer (推断) from the text about solving air pollution
A. Using more coal can reduce it. B. Fewer cars on the road can cut it. C. Only governments can solve it.
27. What is the main idea of the passage
A. Pollution is getting better over lime. B. Pollution is not as bad as people
think. C. Pollution is a serious problem to solve.

When Xiong Chuanfa, 34, blows a lifelike tiger out of sugar in just minutes, kids look at him in surprise,
thinking he is a magician.
Xiong has been blowing sugar figurines (吹糖人) for twenty years. Blowing sugar figurines is a traditional
Chinese folk art with a history of over 600 years and has been listed as a state-level intangible cultural heritage (非
物质文化遗产).
Every morning, Xiong prepares the sugar and drives to different markets in Nanchang to start this magic show.
He heats the sugar, pulls off a little to make a ball and blows it into different shapes—a rabbit, a monkey, and
so on.
However busy he is, he often spares time to drop by colleges to make young people know more about the folk
art. Many college students have been drawn to the art. Simon, a foreign student, found it troublesome to make it.
Thanks to Xiong’s help, Simon finally saw a horse slowly taking shape.
Simon was deeply moved after learning about the art “I just can’t believe the traditional folk art can be kept
so well here. I love it. Chinese culture should be spread around the world.” he said.
This art has been passed down for four generations (代) in Xiong’s family. His 6-year-old son often blows
sugar balloons, just like what he used to do as a child.
“We will pass on the intangible heritage.” said Xiong.
28. From the passage, we can learn that at what age did Xiong Chuanfa begin blowing sugar figurines
A. 6. B. 14. C. 20.
29. What does the underlined word “troublesome” mean in paragraph 5

figurines.

第一节(共 5 小题; 每小题 2 分, 满分 10 分)
阅读下面短文,根据短文内容回答问题或翻译画线句子。
January 20, 2025, a Chinese company named DeepSeek made a new AI called DeepSeek-R1. This smart
program can solve math problems, write code (代码), and chat like humans but it costs much less to build. The
team spent only $5.58 million and used 2,048 computer chips for two months.
DeepSeek-R1 learns by trying many times and getting better, like how students practice maths. Other AIs need
lots of prepared examples, but R1 improves by itself.
DeepSeek-R1 is free to use and change. Maybe it is the most important reason why so many people use it. On
its first day online, over 19,000 programmers worldwide started projects to study it. A German scientist said
experiments with R1 cost $10 instead of $300 with other AIs. Even Meta’s (a famous U. S. tech company) top
scientist said, “This kind of free AI could change the world.” U.S. tech companies are worried. Meta plans to spend
$65 billion (十亿) more on AI research. As a DeepSeek engineer said, “We want AI to be a friend, not something
only rich people can use.” With R1, China shows the world that great things come from new ideas and hard work,
not just money.

Why Should School Breaks Be Longer
There are a lot of advantages of longer school breaks for students. First, longer breaks are good for students’
health. They have more time to go outside, breathe fresh air, and do physical activities, which helps them stay
active and healthy. Second, longer breaks are also good for learning. After a good rest, students can focus better in
class and feel more energetic.
In my opinion, longer breaks are a great way to balance study and relaxation. I feel happier and more
productive when I have enough time to relax during the day.
