Thirty years ago, I got to know a 1 lady named Rose. She had no kids and lived alone. When I went to visit her, I always took some coffee and food 2 me. One day she said she 3 to invite me to have lunch.
We walked from my workplace to a little restaurant on David Street. On the way, I began to 4 . I knew that she had no money, but if I offered to 5 for the lunch, I might hurt her feelings.
There were many people in the 6 and all of them were happy. Rose told me to sit down and drink coffee by the window. Then she went to work in the kitchen. About 20 minutes 7 , she came out. She just paid for one meal and we started to 8 the delicious food together. Rose told me that the restaurant let people 9 for a meal if they had no money. To my surprise, she also explained that the workers 10 were working there were all volunteers.
I 11 remember the meal and the beautiful afternoon I shared with Rose. It was paid by Rose’s work. The weather was warm and bright, and everyone’s smile was warm and bright 12 .
I’m still thinking that life can not be easy to us, but we can still do 13 for our friends and neighbors. The world will be nicer if everybody could share happiness with 14 . It will 15 be dark if there is a light in everyone’s heart.

It was a month ago. I was at a shop getting my car repaired. It was a long 1 so I sat into a chair with my book. Then suddenly I heard a 2 . An old friend from primary school came to me. I 3 didn’t recognize(认出) him at first. He had white hair now.
We soon started talking 4 to catch up on each other’s life. It was 5 to know everything in a few hours, though. Still, we talked about our families, friends, jobs and pains. We recalled old 6 too and shared laughter and joy together. Then he said something 7 . “Joe, I want to thank you for being my friend back then.” He talked about how his stutter(口吃) caused others to 8 him, and how that filled him with anger, darkness, and pain.
After we said goodbye, I tried to 9 if I had ever been one of those who had helped him. Even as a child I never wanted to see anyone in 10 . I was glad that my 11 with him had helped him get through that dark time. And I was thankful for getting to see him 12 .
An act of kindness can 13 the world for years from heart to heart until it circles back to us. Never 14 being friendly to others. Share all the love and kindness 15 you can. You can never imagine how much your love and kindness might mean to others.
