教学过程
Step 1 Lead-in Have students review what they have learned about syllables in words. Have students read the following words and write down the number of syllables in each word. (1) emperor ( ) (2) south ( ) (3) between ( ) (4) summer ( ) (5) tradition ( ) (6) today ( ) (7) visitor ( ) (8) attract ( ) (9) hope ( ) Step 2 Presentation Have students read the following sentences and pay attention to the stress of the underlined words. Then have students answer the following question. Where can the stress be in a word Have students listen to the recording of the words on page 37 and read along. Then have students pay attention to the stress on different syllables. Have students work in groups and summarize the features of the stressed syllables. Step 3 Practice Have students read the following words. Write a B if we stress the beginning syllable. Write an M if we stress the middle syllable. Write an L if we stress the last syllable. (1) local ( ) (2) along ( ) (3) palace ( ) (4) invite ( ) (5) tradition ( ) (6) ancient ( ) (7) visitor ( ) (8) fantastic ( ) (9) theatre ( ) 2. Have students listen to the recording and finish Part A on page 37. 3. Have students finish Part B on page 37. 4. Have students finish Part C on page 37. Step 4 Production Have a student introduce his or her favourite place of interest in his or her hometown and ask the others to guess which place it is, focusing on the stress of each word. Sample (1) It is a big and beautiful lake in Nanjing. We can row a boat there. (Xuanwu Lake) (2) You can find a lot of shopping malls in this area in Nanjing. (Xinjiekou) (3) It’s a great place to watch different animals in Nanjing. (Hongshan Forest Zoo) Step 5 Sum up Have students summarize what they have learned in this lesson. Step 6 Homework Compulsory homework: 1. Work in pairs and talk about some famous places of interest in your hometown. 2. Preview Integration on P38.
