At first look, it seems to be Johannes Vermeer’s work “Girl with a Pearl Earring”. But a closer look and you may find something different about it. There are two shining earrings and a little unusual shadow (阴影) of red on the girl’s face.
Look strange It’s actually a picture made by a Dutch designer Julian Van Dieken who used artificial intelligence (AI). Among 3,482 pictures which were created based on Johannes Vermeer’s work, this AI-generated (生成) work was chosen to show, in the Mauritshuis museum in the Netherlands.
“One of the most famous paintings in history is being replaced by one of my AI pictures,” Van Dicken wrote on Instagram. He said that the experience was “crazy” and “unreal”
However, the AI picture caused wide discussion. Though the press officer (新闻发言人) of the Mauritshuis museum, Boris de Munnick, said that “it’s a nice and creative way of making it”, many people questioned whether it could be called art and be shown in the museum, reported AFP.
Dutch artist Iris Compiet described the picture on show as “something unexpected”, AFP noted. She added that “it’s an insult to the works of Vermeer and also to any working artist. Knowing that it was shown in a museum, I feel that it’s a real slap (掌掴) in the face.”
In fact, this is not the first time people have discussed the use of AI. As Taylor Michael explained, some worry AI art breaks copyright laws (版权法). Artists sar these tools use their works without permission (允许). Also the increasing use of AI in creative works may do harm to the development of art.

Have you ever made a quick decision you later regretted Yeah, me too. Before that, I thought “Wow, I’m a human supercomputer!”, but shortly after the decision, I realized it might have been one of my worst ideas ever. That’s the beauty and the problem of how our minds work, as clearly explained by Daniel Kahneman in his bestselling book Thinking, Fast and Slow, published in 2011. It’s an interesting exploration (探索) into the way we make decisions.
Daniel Kahneman, a well-known psychologist (心理学家) and Nobel Prize winner, uses simple examples to show two ways our brains think. When you see a snake, you might jump back without thinking. This is System l—a fast, automatic (自动的) way of thinking. It works quickly and without much effort. But when you work out a math problem or plan a trip, you need to turn to System 2, a slow, careful way of thinking.
This book helps us understand why we sometimes make mistakes. For example, if a shop says a shirt is “50% off from 100,” we think 50 is a good price, but maybe the real price was lower. This is the “anchoring effect” that the first information we hear influence our choice. So Kahneman suggests slowing down and using System 2 to avoid mistakes when making important decisions.
Thinking, Fast and Slow is not just for scientists. It is useful for everyone. Although some ideas are challenging, the clear examples explain big ideas. By learning about these thinking habits, you can make wiser choices. As Kahneman says, “Understanding our mistakes is the first step to avoiding them.”
5.Which of the following is the example of System 1
A.Solving geography problems.
B.Comparing to get budget-friendly phones.
C.Feeling scared when seeing a spider.
6.What does the “anchoring effect” mean in Paragraph 3
A.People are influenced by the first information they hear.
B.People don’t take the first information seriously.
C.People always make correct decisions without thinking.

A.It discusses three ways human thinks.
B.It helps people to make wiser decisions.
C.It uses difficult examples to explain ideas.
8.What’s the author’s attitude towards the book Thinking, Fast and Slow
A.Supportive. B.Doubtful. C.Unclear.

Soon, thunderous applause (雷鸣般的掌声) brought me out of the darkness, and I heard my teacher say, “Wonderful job!”
When I opened my report card, I discovered an “A” on it. I couldn’t believe my eyes until I gave it a second look. Then all my fears disappeared. I felt like I was flying in the air. I heard birds singing.

In nature, injured wild animals often face great challenges. For example, in Yellowstone National Park, a young deer with a broken leg was fed by tourists. Though it grew healthy later, it could hardly find food on its own. Similarly, in Australia, kangaroos fed by visitors stopped eating natural plants and developed stomach problems.
These raise a question: Should humans feed wild animals Some say it saves lives, while others argue that it harms nature’s balance. Let’s look at scientific evidence.
A 2021 study from Nature focused on wild birds in cities. Birds fed by people became less careful. They often flew close to cars and buildings, leading to more accidents. Another study on seagulls (海鸥) showed that those fed by tourists often forgot how to catch fish and relied completely on human food.
Scientists like Dr. Wang Lin from Beijing Wildlife Rescue Center explain: “Feeding changes animals’ natural behavior. They may lose survival skills and even become aggressive (富于攻击性的) when expecting food.” For example, monkeys in some parks now steal bags from tourists, causing serious problems.
So what is the best action Wildlife expert Zhang Hua advises: “Report injured animals to keepers instead of feeding them. Professionals know how to help without causing harm.”

The Amazon rainforest is one of the most amazing places on the earth. It covers a large area mainly in South America and is often called the “lungs of the earth”. Why does it have such a name Because it produces a large amount of oxygen through the countless trees and plants there, which is important for all living beings around the world.
There are a large number of living things in the Amazon rainforest, from colorful birds to various monkeys swinging among the trees, and even many rare and unknown insects that we may hardly see in other places. The wildlife has formed a balanced ecosystem.
However, in recent years, the Amazon rainforest has been facing serious threats. People cut down trees for more farmland and to get valuable wood. This not only destroys the habitats of animals living there but also reduces the amount of oxygen it can produce. Fires sometimes break out too, caused by human activities like careless burning or natural factors such as lightning, further harming this precious rainforest.
Schools can play an important role, too. They can include rainforest conservation topics in their lessons, teaching students about its biodiversity (生物多样性) and the effects of its destruction.
