67.参考范文:
Realizing how much this meant to Joe, I knew I had to help him. I showed him how to reset the camera settings, making sure to turn off the filter that had been causing the distortion. I double-checked everything, wanting to be certain that this time the photos would come out just right. After completing the adjustment, I suggested Joe start fresh and take some new photos. He still looked tense, like he wasn’t sure this would work. I offered to help him take photos and guided him to pose decently. “Okay, just relax and give me a smile.” Joe forced a nervous but hopeful smile.
I showed him the results of my shots of him. Joe stared at the screen for a moment, and then, as if a huge weight had been lifted off his shoulders. Those pictures were normal: His forehead wasn’t stretched, and his eyes looked like his own. He broke into a wide smile.“These are perfect!” he exclaimed, his voice filled with relief. “You really saved the day.”Then Joe left the store a different man, hopeful and ready to take his shot at finding love.Seeing him off, I sensed a smile spread across my face. Sometimes, the smallest gestures really do make the biggest difference.

A Thousand Li of Rivers and Mountains—Wang Ximeng
Not only did officials and scholars enjoy listening to music, but they also found pleasure in depicting nature. One such painter was Wang Ximeng. He was a prodigy. The Lion King musical, a beast of a show captivating US audiences since 1997, has been staged all around the world. Central to its success was Julie Taymor, the theatre, film and opera director and designer whose unique vision helped the musical spring into life on stage — proving that theatrical versions of Disney movies could not only be hugely profitable, but could do so while being artistically innovative in their own right.
But when Disney initially approached her, Taymor hadn’t actually seen The Lion King. “I thought, well, why not, let’s go look at the movie,” she recalls. “And I was really taken.” The challenge of adapting an epic, wide-screen story excited her: how, she recalls wondering, would you put hundreds of African grassland animals on stage
The answer was by embracing a distinctly theatrical approach: masks and puppetry (木偶). “I went through every animal: okay, we’ve got a giraffe. I’ll put the puppet neck on top of the head of the dancer, but you’re going to see the dancer’s face…” remembers Taymor. Her designs allowed the audience to see the mechanics of how each character is made. “You can see Simba’s emotion on the actor’s face, while a mask on top of his head reminds you that this is, in fact, a lion. There is no attempt to hide the human being behind the masks or inside the puppet,” she says, a technique she called the “double event”.
“I wanted to do what theatre does best,” recalls Taymor. “Film hides the strings: we know it’s fake, but we’re pretending that it’s really there. Whereas in the theatre, we will enjoy seeing a little puppet of a boat, and a big ocean of silk… The audience is not played down to—they’re brought into the game.”
The how was a hit—and a new kind of musical was born.

27.What does Taymor appreciate most about theatre
A.Its high-tech stage design. B.Its ever-changing story line.
C.Its open and engaging nature. D.Its loyal and appreciative audience.

It’s very common for students’ grades to experience a decline upon entering high school. Different teenagers deal with the newfound pressures differently, and while some tend to rise to the challenge, others can become overwhelmed (不知所措的) by stress. An interesting study conducted at The University of Texas has found that students’ views on learning and intelligence mindsets can make all the difference when it comes to fighting academic stress.
The research team set out to learn why some students overcame the stressful transition (过渡) into high school and some struggled to maintain their academic skills and standards. Their findings pointed to a direct relationship between a student’s learning mindset and their stress resilience, especially when grades begin to decline. More specifically, students’ learning mindsets were defined as whether they considered intelligence a fixed characteristic that everyone is born with, or a constantly growing one that can be improved over time.
In all, 499 ninth-graders from two public high schools in Texas were surveyed during their first term. Researchers assessed each student’s perceptions of intelligence, and asked each participant to fill out daily surveys on their academic stress levels. The results showed that 68% of students saw a decline in their grades during the first 12 weeks of high school. Those worsening grades, however, didn’t cause a higher stress response for everyone.
It turned out that worsening grades only caused greater stress responses in students who showed signs of a fixed intelligence mindset, while students with a growth mindset were able to bounce back much more quickly. Researchers theorize this is because these students are more active in solving academic issues, for example, by clarifying lessons with teachers after class if they don’t understand a particular topic.
“Declining grades may get ‘under the skin’ for high school students,” explains lead author Hae Yeon Lee. “But believing that intelligence can be developed or having what is called a growth mindset can reduce the effects of academic stress.”
28.What does the underlined word “resilience” in Paragraph 2 probably mean
A.The feeling of being stressed. B.The state of being very intelligent.
C.The process of learning new things. D.The ability to recover from difficulties.
29.How did the researcher conduct the study
A.By observational study in classroom settings.
B.By experimental study with controlled variables.
C.By survey-based study with daily assessments.
D.By case study focusing on individual students.
30.What can be inferred about students with a fixed intelligence mindset
A.They are more likely to seek help from teachers.
B.They are less likely to experience academic stress.
C.They tend to give up easily when facing challenges.
D.They are more likely to improve their grades quickly.
31.What is the best title of the text
A.The Common Phenomenon of Grades Decline in High School
B.Ways to Improve High School Students’ Academic Performance
C.Fixed Intelligence: The Root of Worsening Grades for Students
D.Growth Mindset: A Key to Handling Academic Stress in High School

Measles(麻疹), which once killed 450 children each year and disabled even more, was nearly wiped out in the United States 14 years ago by the universal use of the MMR vaccine(疫苗). But the disease is making a comeback, caused by a growing anti-vaccine movement and misinformation that is spreading quickly. Already this year, 115 measles cases have been reported in the USA, compared with 189 for all of last year.
The numbers might sound small, but they are the leading edge of a dangerous trend. When vaccination rates are very high, as they still are in the nation as a whole, everyone is protected. This is called “herd immunity”, which protects the people who get hurt easily, including those who can’t be vaccinated for medical reasons, babies too young to get vaccinated and people on whom the vaccine doesn’t work.
But herd immunity works only when nearly the whole herd joins in. When some refuse vaccination and seek a free ride, immunity breaks down and everyone is in even bigger danger.
That’s exactly what is happening in small neighborhoods around the country from Orange County, California, where 22 measles cases were reported this month, to Brooklyn, N.Y., where a 17-year-old caused an outbreak last year.
The resistance to vaccine has continued for decades, and it is driven by a real but very small risk. Those who refuse to take that risk selfishly make others suffer.
Making things worse are state laws that make it too easy to opt out(决定不参加) of what are supposed to be required vaccines for all children entering kindergarten. Seventeen states allow parents to get an exemption(豁免), sometimes just by signing a paper saying they personally object to a vaccine.
Now, several states are moving to tighten laws by adding new regulations for opting out. But no one does enough to limit exemptions.
Parents ought to be able to opt out only for limited medical or religious reasons. But personal opinions Not good enough. Everyone enjoys the life-saving benefits vaccines provide, but they’ll exist only as long as everyone shares in the risks.
32.The first two paragraphs suggest that ____________.
A.a small number of measles cases can start a dangerous trend
B.the outbreak of measles attracts the public attention
C.anti-vaccine movement has its medical reasons
D.information about measles spreads quickly
33.Herd immunity works well when ____________.
A.exemptions are allowed
B.several vaccines are used together
C.the whole neighborhood is involved in
D.new regulations are added to the state laws
34.What is the main reason for the comeback of measles
A.The overuse of vaccine.
C.The features of measles itself.
B.The lack of medical care.
D.The vaccine opt-outs of some people.
35.What is the purpose of the passage
A.To introduce the idea of exemption.
B.To discuss methods to cure measles.
C.To stress the importance of vaccination.
D.To appeal for equal rights in medical treatment.

Are you thinking about holidaying alone, but a bit concerned about the dangers You needn’t worry if you consider these tips first.
1. Safety
Unless you positively invite danger — i.e. wandering around a dark park at 3 a.m. with headphones on — travelling alone isn’t actually that risky. 36 In the case of taking taxis, always keep a record of the plate number and ask for an estimated fare before setting off. You should also carry your ID card with you and always keep a back-up. And most importantly, ensure that someone else knows your route and keep in regular contact with them.
2. Plan
Being alone means you can’t use your partner’s phone when yours runs out of juice, or rely on them should you lose your wallet. 37 It’s a good idea to write down some key numbers of friends, hotels and emergency services beforehand, and keep some back-up money in your bag, just in case.
3. Eating
Many single travelers have a fear of eating alone. 38 You can bring a book to avoid boredom, sit at counters to be less noticeable or use the opportunity to practice your foreign language on a waiter.
4. Making friends
39 This is another common concern when travelling alone. In fact, acquiring new companions (伙伴) is easier than feared. You can smile at people, have open body language, read something interesting to start conversation, or ask strangers a question. All these help you look approachable. More hands-on tips include visiting bars, joining tours or using apps designed to help people make friends.
5. Enjoy it
Without having to consider others’ needs, the joy of solo travel is that you can be entirely selfish: walk at your preferred pace, eat what and when you want, and go wherever you like to see the sights that interest you. 40 .
A.What if no one likes me on my trip
B.The biggest danger is being taken for a ride.
C.It’s actually not so hard to get over your worry.
D.You needn’t get into a panic if this really happens.
E.However well you plan in advance, things will go wrong.
F.Just appreciate your independence and enjoy that freedom.

第二节(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
It was a regular day at the smartphone store. The usual crowd of customers came in, each with their own unique issues. My job was to help them all, whether it was something as simple as transferring contacts or as difficult as fixing a phone that wouldn’t turn on.
Then Joe appeared. He looked to be in his early 50s. His hair was slightly graying. He was practically running towards the counter, his eyes wide with panic.
“You need to give me a new phone!” Joe almost shouted. “This one you sold me a few days ago is broken! The photos in my phone are totally messed up!”
Joe’s urgency made me pay closer attention. “Let’s take a look at what’s going on,” I said. Joe thrust (塞) the phone into my hands, nearly dropping it.
“Look at this! Every picture is ruined!” He sounded out of breath. I opened the photo gallery, and sure enough, the selfies (自拍照) he’d taken were quite strange: His forehead was stretched, and his eyes were oddly wide. The pictures looked like something out of a funhouse mirror.
I started checking the settings, detecting there was a heavy filter (滤光器) turned on, which was distorting (扭曲) his face in every picture. “Sir, it’s actually a filter that’s causing the issue. Your phone isn’t broken; it’s just the settings. Resetting the settings of the camera will help.”
“But it’s digital! I didn’t mess with anything! My photos were fine when I took them,”he argued. “I need these pictures to be perfect! Please, just fix it,” his voice had softened, almost like he was begging now.
Then, almost in a whisper, he admitted, “I need these photos for a dating website.”Suddenly, it all made sense. This was not just any photo but was his shot at finding love. The thought of it going wrong had made him completely uneasy.
