This is the Macao egg tart (蛋挞). It’s one of the most well-liked desserts in Macao. The egg tarts at Margaret’
s Café Nata are made fresh every day by the cafe owner Margaret Wong.
Not many people knew Macao egg tarts as well as Wong. She made this delicious dessert with her husband
Andrew Stow, who isn’t with us anymore. Some people say the egg tart doesn’t taste like Western food or Chinese
food.
It all began in 1989 when Stow opened their first bakery. Someone asked Stow to make a pastry like the
Portuguese ones. The first batch (批) came out wrong, but Wong said they could still be eaten. They let some
people try them for free. After trying one, then two, the customers loved them. By the third one, Wong knew they
had a w... She finally made it. Now, every day, hundreds of people line up at Wong’s cafe for these famous tarts.
For more than thirty years, the recipe has stayed the same, and Wong doesn’t want to change it.

A. Waste. B. Winner. C. Worker. D. Worry.

Crochet (钩针编织) is an old-day life skill and a kind of art. However, if you think crochet is just something
that only your grandparents would do, you are wrong. It can open your mind to a world of creativity, relaxation and
bring you a great collection of homemade toys and other objects which you can send to your friends.
You might consider crochet as being a bit out of date, but it is becoming much more popular and cool with
young people. They like crochet because it’s very easy to get started and it is relaxing, so anyone can have a try.
All you need is a crochet hook (钩子), a ball of wool and some basic instructions. You can find videos on the
Internet, or look for a beginner-friendly book in your local library. You might know someone who can crochet,
which is a great way to get started because they can take you through step by step, answer the questions and help
第 7页/共 16页
you when you have many problems.
Watching it in person will help you learn it better, but the basic steps of crochet are all about looping (环绕)
your wool onto a hook, winding (缠绕) it around the hook and then hooking it back through the loop. You do this
over and over again. If that sounds like a lot of loops and hooks, don't worry-it all becomes much clearer once you
get started.
It’s the repetitive nature of crochet that makes it such a relaxing activity. Studies have shown that the rhythmic
motion (节律运动) of crocheting cuts down stress. Also, you get the satisfaction of making your own creations by
hand. So why not pick up some wool and have a try
62. Why is crochet becoming popular among young people
A. Because it can help them make more friends.
B. Because crochet toys are very popular.
C. Because it is easy to start and relaxing.
D. Because it can make them more creative.
63. What does the writer think is a great way to start crochet
A. Watching online videos about it. B. Reading some books about it.
C. Learning from someone who can do it. D. Making some simple crochet objects.
64. What is the fourth paragraph mainly talking about
A. The materials for crochet. B. The basic steps of crochet.
C The advantages of crochet. D. The importance of crochet.
65. What is the writer trying to do in the text
A. Introduce the history of crochet. B. Explain why crochet becomes popular.
C. Encourage people to try crochet. D. Tell us how to get relaxed.

Van Tilburg and his team did a study asking people to describe what boring people are like according to
someone they knew. In the study, most people said that a boring person is quiet, has no interests or ideas, and doesn’
t have a sense of humor.
Later studies showed that being seen as boring people is a bad personality characteristic (性格特点). And
these people are often called introverts (内向的人).
So why do some people think introverts are boring Quiet people usually keep their lives secret and don’t like
sharing their lives with others. This is different from what many cultures enjoy: being outgoing and welcome.
第 8页/共 16页
Because of this, people might wrongly think that “quiet” means “boring”. They believe being very outgoing and
sharing everything online makes people seem fun.
However, thinking that being outgoing is better can be a mistake, according to another study. This idea may
start when we are in our teenage years because we have the most friends and are popular with everyone at that time.
This kind of popularity can make quiet people feel bad about not being so gregarious.
In fact, introverts have something called a “quiet ego (自我)”. It helps them be able to put themselves in other
people’s shoes and see all sides of problems. They not only care about themselves, but also care about others. Their
kindness also brings them a feeling of long-lasting happiness.
It’s not right to think introverts are boring because introversion has many good points. Introverts are truer to
themselves. Realizing that being introverted has its own advantages can make people feel great about themselves.
There can be happiness in being “boring” if you have a quiet and introverted personality.
66. Who do most people think is a boring person probably according to Paragraph 1
A. Peter, who can often make others laugh. B. Cindy, who has many different hobbies.
C. Steven, who never stops talking. D. John, who seldom talks to others.
67. What does the underlined word “gregarious” mean in Paragraph 4
A. Social. B. Wealthy. C. Responsible. D. Polite.
68. How does the “quiet ego” help the introverts
A. It helps them understand others.
B. It helps care about others instead of themselves.
C. It makes them understand happiness better.
D. It helps bring them a peaceful mind.
69. Which of the following will the writer probably agree with
A. Introverted personality should not be considered as a problem.
B. Being outgoing is good for a person’s development.
C. A person who likes sharing lives must be welcome.
D. Outgoing persons pay more attention to themselves.
70. What’s the best title for the text
A. Some Causes of Being Introverted B. What Introverts Are Like
C. How to Be an Outgoing Person D. Different Opinions on Introverts

Yandang Mountain is widely known as the “No.1 Mountain in Southeast China”. It stands proudly in Wenzhou,
Zhejiang Province. Rising to about 1,057 meters above sea level, it is a very tall and great mountain. Its name has
an interesting origin (起源). It comes from a dried-up lake at the very top of the mountain. This lake is called
Yanhu Lake, or Goose Lake. When autumn arrives, wild geese fly here and rest comfortably in the reeds (芦苇)
around the lake.
The mountain is like a big treasure box full of interesting natural sights. Ling Feng, or Spiritual Peaks (峰), is
one of the most well-known parts. In this area, there are countless strange peaks and steep cliffs (陡峭的悬崖).
They are really amazing. From different angles, they look like different things. Take Hezhang Peak for example.
This 270-meter-high peak can look like a pair of hands reaching out, or a slim young lady in a beautiful qipao, or
even two people holding each other’s arms.
Another well-known sight is Sanzhepu, or Three-Terraced Falls. The falls are divided into three levels by
strong rock cliffs. These waterfalls are some of the most special and beautiful ones on the whole mountain.
Over the past hundreds of years, many temples have been carefully built on the mountain. And many famous
artists have come here and left their wonderful works there. These works include beautiful stone sculptures (雕塑),
great calligraphic tablets and colourful paintings on the rocks.

Making the library a good reading place
第 15页/共 16页
Dear students
To create a quiet reading environment for everyone, I would like to share some suggestions here.
First, keep quiet in the library. You should talk in a very low voice, or you’d better not talk at all if not
necessary. And when you walk, do it quietly. Don’t make noise. Second, don’t throw your litter everywhere. Put
your litter in the dustbin to keep the library clean. Third, if you want to take a book from the shelf, do it carefully
and put it back in the right place when you finish reading. At last, never eat or drink in the library, which may make
the books dirty. I hope everyone can do their part to make the library a good place for reading and everyone can
enjoy reading there.
