My Home and Dream House
My family lives in a comfortable three-story house. The first floor has a living room where we relax together every evening. Next to the living room is a small study room where my father keeps his collection of over 500 stamps from 30 different countries—he started collecting them when he was 12 years old.
On the second floor, there are three bedrooms. My bedroom is the second one from the stairs, painted light blue—my favorite color. The third floor is my favorite place because we built a special reading corner there last year. My mother arranged 150 books neatly on six wooden shelves that my brother made during his summer vacation.
Though our house is nice, I often imagine my dream home. It would be a modern tree-house built between four strong oak trees. The first tree would hold a circular living room, the second would have a kitchen, the third would contain two cozy bedrooms, and the fourth would support a small swimming pool. I’d collect rainwater in seven colorful barrels placed around the trees.
Next to this amazing tree house, I want to build a garden with exactly 25 types of flowers. The garden path would be made from 1,000 smooth stones I plan to collect from different beaches. Sometimes I sketch designs showing the first floor 15 meters above ground and the second floor 20 meters high. My parents say it’s an interesting idea, but they think building it would be challenging!
From my real home to my imaginary one, both places make me feel safe and happy. What does your dream house look like

The Magic of Baking Soda
Do you know what baking soda is Baking soda, also known as sodium bicarbonate / s di m ba kɑ b n t/, is a common chemical substance in our daily life. It looks like white powder and has many amazing uses.
One of the most interesting uses of baking soda is in making food. When we bake cakes or bread, adding a little baking soda can make them rise. It reacts with the acid in the food ingredients, producing carbon dioxide gas. These tiny gas bubbles make the food soft and fluffy. Have you ever wondered why some cakes are so light and spongy Baking soda is one of the secrets!
Baking soda is also great for cleaning. It can remove stains and bad smells. For example, if there is a stain on the kitchen counter, you can make a paste with baking soda and water, then rub it on the stain. The stain will be easily cleaned away. And if your fridge smells a bit strange, putting an open box of baking soda inside can absorb the bad smell.
Moreover, baking soda has some health benefits. Gargling with a solution of baking soda and water can help soothe a sore throat. It can also help balance the pH level in our mouth, which is good for our oral health.
However, although baking soda is very useful, we should use it properly. Using too much baking soda in food can make it taste bitter. And when using it for cleaning, make sure to rinse the surface thoroughly to avoid any residue.

In hot deserts, there’s not much water. It’s very hot there. Camels (骆驼) are great at living in deserts. They have humps (驼峰) on their backs. The humps can hold a lot of fat When there’s no food or water for a long time, the fat turns into energy and water. This helps camels stay alive. Camels also have big, flat feet. Their feet help them walk on soft sand. They don’t sink (下沉) because of their feet.
Up in the cold Arctic, polar bears are the rulers. They are covered with thick, white fur. The fur keeps them warm. It also helps them hide (躲藏) in the snow. This way, they can catch food easily. Under their skin, polar bears have a thick layer of fat. The fat helps them stay warm in the cold Arctic. Their fur and fat are important for living in the icy place.
Tropical (热带的) rain forests have many different animals. Chameleons (变色龙) live there. They can do a cool thing-change their skin color. People know animals have feelings, but can we understand them Scientists studied dogs’ tails (尾巴) to find out. ____▲____ It says that humans can tell if a dog is happy or sad by watching its tail.
The researchers showed dogs different things. Sometimes they gave the dogs their favorite toys or food. Sometimes there was nothing. When dogs saw something they liked, they wagged (摇动) their tails fast and high. When there was nothing, their tails moved slowly and low. The scientists recorded these movements with a camera.
Then the researchers showed 10 videos of dog tails to 100 volunteers. Half of the videos showed happy tails, and half showed sad tails. About 70% of the volunteers correctly guessed the dogs’ feelings. Some volunteers had never even owned a dog before!
