One night, a 36-year-old man in Bangladesh met an elephant in front of his house. 1 This story shows a big problem: the conflict (冲突) between humans and elephants.
2 And during the same time, at least 124 wild elephants were killed. Almost half of the wild elephant population has been lost. Why is this happening 3 As a result, they come to places where people live, and then bad things happen.
However, there is some hope. The government wants to start an “Elephant Protection Project”. The project will give money and supplies to teams that help elephants. 4 What’s more, solar fences will be put up to stop elephants from coming into places where people live. If elephants damage farmers’ crop (庄稼), farmers will get money for the loss. 5

(2024·广东深圳·三模)Many of us were told from an early age that we can learn from mistakes. But is it actually true
The short answer is “yes”. But learning from our mistakes is, in fact, very hard because we don’t like to fail. So we face failure in emotional (情绪激动的) ways, like giving up on a task easily, telling ourselves we don’t care whether we succeed, or finding fault with the task itself. This is self-protective, according to Hallgeir Sjastad from the Norwegian School of Economics. “Most of us want to think of ourselves as talented,” he says, “so when we fail, it is a danger to our self-image.”
Luckily, there is research to suggest that there are some methods to help us overcome the emotional barriers (障碍) around failure. One of them is to use a third-person perspective (视角). Instead of asking “Why did I fail ”, we could ask “Why did Sam fail ”. Many studies by scientist Ethan Kross at the University of Michigan show that using a third-person perspective allows us to look at failure less emotionally.
The second method is to offer advice to others who may be in the same position as us. This led to better levels of motivation and success in the test groups—including both adults and children—that were asked to give advice according to their own failures. University teachers Eskreis-Winkler, Fishbach and Duckworth found that the satisfaction of helping others forces people to engage with (与……建立密切关系) their experience and what they have learned.
The writer Samuel Beckett once said, “Fail again, fail better.” But it now seems that we should be saying, “Fail again, fail smarter.” Failure is an unavoidable part of life, but by learning to overcome the emotional barriers around it, we may find the road to success is a little easier.

B.A third-person perspective helps people be less emotional.

(2025·广东汕头·模拟预测)These days, drones (无人机), also called UAVs, aren’t just cool high-tech tools for taking pictures. In the countryside, they’re becoming more and more important. They’re bringing new ways to get work done and making big changes in farming and other country jobs.
One big use of them is in farming. Farmers can use drones to look over their fields. These drones have special cameras. They can fly up high and take pictures of the crops. Then, by looking at these pictures, farmers can tell if their crops have enough water, sunlight, or food. Instead of walking around the whole big field to check, they can use a drone to look at everything fast. Zigui is a county in Yichang City, Hubei Province. Older farmers there used to carry oranges on their back. It was hard work. Few young people are willing to do it. But now a farmer can use a drone to carry 50 kilograms per trip. It crosses 200 meters in just one minute, while a person would take 30 minutes.
________ They can watch how the animals move and if they’re healthy. In big pastures, it’s really hard for farmers to watch all the animals all the time. Drones can easily get to far-away and hard-to-reach places. This helps keep everything in the countryside working well, so people’s lives and work can go on smoothly.
However, using drones in the countryside isn’t always easy. For example, there are strict regulations on drone flights in many places. Farmers have to make sure they fly their drones the right way. Also, buying a good drone and all the things that go with it can be expensive for some farmers. But as technology gets better and the market gets more grown-up, these problems will probably get solved little by little.
34.How can farmers tell if their crops have problems according to the passage

(2025·广东广州·一模)On January 20, 2025, DeepSeek launched its R1 LLM, which quickly became popular, even surpassing Open AI’s Chat GPT in the Apple App Store. This large number of users created a big buzz in the tech world and even affected the stock prices of many AI companies.
One of the best features of DeepSeek is that it is open-source, which means it is free to use, and anyone can change its code. This makes it much cheaper—20 to 50 times less expensive—than Open AI’s GPT-3 model. Unlike other AIs that need many examples to learn, R1 can improve on its own. In a global math test, DeepSeek R1 scored 79.8%, which is slightly better than Open AI’s model. This is another advantage of Deep Seek.
DeepSeek is easy to use, even on basic computers. A simpler version of R1 can run on low-cost computers, making it helpful for schools and small businesses. Many schools in China now use DeepSeek to create quizzes and study materials. For students, DeepSeek is like a 24/7 study partner! Its AI models can solve math problems step-by-step, explain tricky science concepts, and check grammar mistakes in English essays. Imagine asking, “How do I calculate the area of a triangle ” and getting the answer at once with clear examples.
While it can be helpful, students might start to rely too much on it for answers, which could make it harder for them to think critically and solve problems on their own. This raises concerns about whether AI can help students truly understand and arouse their interests in learning.
At a recent forum on March 22nd, a professor shared a poem written by DeepSeek. He said, “The poem is well written. Technology can copy style and tone. But...you know, as the Chinese saying goes, it is easy to draw a dragon, but rather difficult to put in the life-giving eyes.”
In conclusion, as technology like DeepSeek benefits students a lot, it also presents challenges for teachers. Educators need to help students balance its use with regular study methods. Guide them to think carefully about the information that AI tools provide.
39.What is Paragraph 2 mainly about
A.How DeepSeek R1 performs in math test. B.Why DeepSeek R1 is cheaper than GPT-3.
C.Why DeepSeek R1 is better than other AIs. D.How DeepSeek R1 improves its performance.
40.Which best summarizes the role of DeepSeek for students
A.A professional math teacher. B.An all-day study partner.
C.An English grammar helper. D.A science concepts assistant.
41.What can we infer about the poem mentioned in Paragraph 5
A.It was short of real feelings or depth. B.It was better than other famous poems.
C.It was praised by everyone for its creativity. D.It showed that AI can write as well as humans.
42.What is the writer’s opinion towards the use of AI in education
A.AI is much better than teachers. B.AI brings both benefits and challenges.
C.AI benefits students more than teachers. D.AI can solve all the problems for teachers and students.
