个人成长类(克服困难、学习经验);
社会温情类(亲情、友情、陌生人互助);
文化传承类(传统技艺、节日习俗);
人物:主角、配角及其关系;
事件:起因、经过、高潮、结局;
示例:题干问“What did Tom do after the accident ”,需找到事故后的具体行动描述。
首尾段法:首段引出主题,尾段升华道理;
曲解原意:替换关键词(如原文“he regretted his choice” → 选项“he was proud of himself”)。
示例:
原文:Lily failed her math exam. She cried all night, but the next morning, she decided to ask her
teacher for help.
题目:Why did Lily cry
选项:
A. She hated math.
B. She felt disappointed and wanted to improve.
C. She wanted to quit school.
答案:B(原文通过“cried”和“ask for help”体现失望与改进意愿,A、C 过度推断)。
整理情感类词汇(frustrated, determined, grateful)及动作描写短语(burst into tears, hesitate for
a moment)。

Bassanio was a young man who had fallen in love with Portia, a rich girl. However, Portia’
s father, before his death, set a challenge for any suitor (求婚者) wishing to marry her. He left
three boxes—one made of gold, one of silver, and one of lead. Each box had an inscription (题词),
and only the one who chose the correct box would be able to marry Portia.
Bassanio looked at the three boxes, but he did not read the inscription on them. He looked
at the gold and silver.
“The world is tricked by appearances,” he said. “People often disguise (伪 装 ) ordinary
things with beautiful gold, silver, and jewels to make them seem extraordinary. People always
agree with those who speak well, even if they say foolish things. Many people who seem brave are
really cowards (懦 夫 ). How often do we believe in leaders who turn out to be bad ” Then
Bassanio remembered the story of Midas, the man who loved gold too much. He wanted
everything to be gold. He wished that he could make everything gold just by touching it. When he
could, it was a disaster.
“No, I do not want these beautiful boxes of gold and silver. I will choose the lead box with
its ordinary colour. Please give me the key to the lead box. Let happiness be mine,” Bassanio said.
One of the servants gave him the key. Then he went to the box and opened it. Portia was
very pleased. She could not believe it until Bassanio opened the box and saw the picture of Portia
inside it. When he saw the picture, he loved her even more because the picture was very beautiful.
He wondered how anyone could paint such a good picture of her. He looked at all the parts
of the picture. All of them were perfect. Of course, Portia herself was far more beautiful than her
picture. The writing inside the box told him that he had chosen the right box. It said that he should
go to Portia and hug her. She would be his wife. Bassanio could not believe it.

Look at the picture and answer a 100,000-yuan question: What does this ancient Oracle
Bone Script (甲骨文) mean If you know the answer, then good for you! The 100,000 yuan is
yours. This is no joke. In 2018, a researcher Jiang Yubin won a 100,000-yuan prize for
successfully deciphering the ancient characters in such a picture, proving the real value of
understanding these historical scripts.
Like Jiang, Li Ying is not only a fan and but also a researcher of Oracle Bone Script. The
27-year-old woman has recently gained widespread attention because of her videos about Oracle
Bone Script. According to Li, Oracle Bone Script was once a less-known field. “You can’t
imagine how strange my major seems to others,” Li said in one of her videos. “Whenever I tell
people what I studied, they shoot me a surprised look.”
In her videos, Li often discusses how ancient people used Oracle Bone Script to record
information and explains where Chinese characters (汉字) came from. She also points out that
each Chinese character has a unique story behind it, and these stories are exactly why the
characters developed their specific shapes over thousands of years. “It’s like each character carries
a piece of history in its strokes,” she says.
To Li’s surprise, since her first Oracle Bone Script video was posted online in February
2023, this ancient topic has become a popular trend on the Internet. “I never expected so many
people to be interested in Oracle Bone Script! Parents and teachers have left messages, saying they
want to learn about Chinese culture by studying it,” she said in another video. “Viewers ask all
kinds of questions—some want to know how to start learning Oracle Bone Script, some wonder if
I wrote my university papers using these ancient characters. Many told me to get serious with my
time and start my work on the next video!”
This growing interest has made Li feel a strong sense of responsibility. She hopes to share
more knowledge about Oracle Bone Script with the public and help uncover more secrets of
China’s long history. “These ancient characters are not just symbols, they’re a bridge connecting
the past and present,” she believes. Through her efforts, Li wants more people especially young

“You call each other’s names when you are in the garden. Sometimes I can see you all
around the table with your mother. She has a very kind face. I like looking at her. I haven’t got a
mother.”
Jo felt sad when she heard this.
“Why don’t you come and visit us ” she said, “It isn’t good for you to stay in this house all
the time.”
“Thank you. I’d like to come very much.” Said Laurie.

When I was 16 years old, I made my first visit to the United States. It wasn’t the first time I
had been abroad. Like most English children, I learned French at school and I had often been to
France, so I was used to speaking a foreign language to people who didn’t understand English. But
when I went to America, I was really looking forward to having a nice easy holiday without any
language problems.
How wrong I was! The misunderstanding began at the airport. I was looking for a public

“Who is talking about marriage ” I replied. “I just want to give my friend a ring to tell him
I’ve arrived. Can you tell me where I can find a phone box ”
“Oh!” he said. “There’s a phone downstairs.”

个人成长类(克服困难、学习经验);
社会温情类(亲情、友情、陌生人互助);
文化传承类(传统技艺、节日习俗);
人物:主角、配角及其关系;
事件:起因、经过、高潮、结局;
示例:题干问“What did Tom do after the accident ”,需找到事故后的具体行动描述。
首尾段法:首段引出主题,尾段升华道理;
曲解原意:替换关键词(如原文“he regretted his choice” → 选项“he was proud of himself”)。
示例:
原文:Lily failed her math exam. She cried all night, but the next morning, she decided to ask her
teacher for help.
题目:Why did Lily cry
选项:
A. She hated math.
B. She felt disappointed and wanted to improve.
C. She wanted to quit school.
答案:B(原文通过“cried”和“ask for help”体现失望与改进意愿,A、C 过度推断)。
整理情感类词汇(frustrated, determined, grateful)及动作描写短语(burst into tears, hesitate for
a moment)。

s father, before his death, set a challenge for any suitor (求婚者) wishing to marry her. He left
three boxes—one made of gold, one of silver, and one of lead. Each box had an inscription (题词),

picture. The writing inside the box told him that he had chosen the right box. It said that he should

My wife and our two kids went with me to the post office a few weeks ago. An old man
was trying to pay his electricity bill in front of me. He was using a stick and his hands and arms
were shaking. It seemed that he had a problem—he was 20 cents short of his total $118.70.
Twenty cents!
The lady behind the counter (柜台) had the old man in such a state, asking for just 20 cents.
He was shaking and looked upset. But instead of letting the man go and paying the 20 cents
herself, she told the man that if his bill wasn’t paid in full, he would pay more next time for late
fees.
Hearing this, I walked up and asked the lady behind the counter to give all of his money
back to him. I handed her my debit card (借记卡) and paid the bill for him.
The old man asked, “Why are you doing this ” as he began crying. I told him that it was the
right thing to do. He thanked me over and over and smiled at my two kids on his way out of the
post office.
The best part of all of this was that he walked out of the post office and straight to a

walked up to our car and handed the bag to our two kids through the window.

Through her efforts, Li wants more people especially young
students, to realize the beauty and importance of preserving China’s cultural heritage.

Mr. and Mrs. March lived together with their four daughters. Amy was very shy. Beth
loved being at home. Meg looked very pretty. Jo was tall and thin and she was a tomboy. Their
home was always busy and full of noise and people. Next to them lived old Mr. Laurence and his
grandson, Laurie. They lived in a very large and comfortable house. But it was a house without
life.
One day, Jo saw Laurie standing at an upstairs window in his house and looking down at
their garden. Jo’s sisters were playing in the snow there. They were throwing snowballs and
having a lot of fun. But Laurie’s face was very sad.
“Poor boy!” Jo thought. “He’s all alone. He needs some friends.” She couldn’t stop
thinking about him. She wanted to go and see him, but how could she go to the house without an
invitation
Then one snowy afternoon, she saw Laurie’s grandpa go out. This gave her an idea. She
took a broom from the kitchen.
“What are you going to do, Jo ” asked her sister Meg.
“To clear the garden path.” Answered Jo.
When Laurie saw Jo from the window, a big smile changed his pale, sad face.
Jo laughed and shouted, “How are you Are you ill ”
Laurie opened the window and said, “I’m better now, thank you. I had a bad cold and had
to stay inside for a week.”
“I’m sorry,” said Jo. “Are you bored ”
“Yes, very.” he replied.
“Don’t your friends come to visit you ”
“No. But I don’t want to see anybody. Boys are noisy and they give me a headache.”
“Girls are quiet.”
“I don’t know any girls.”
“You know us.”
“That’s true! Can you come and visit me ” cried Laurie.
“I’m not quiet, but I’d like to come,” replied Jo. “I must ask Mother first.” She ran back
into her house.
A few minutes later, she returned and rang the bell on the door of Laurie’s house. A servant
took her upstairs.
“Here I am!” she said brightly. “Mother sends her love and my sisters gave me this
blancmange (牛奶冻) for you.”
“That looks delicious,” Laurie said. He was very happy to see Jo.
Jo looked around. There were lots of books on the shelves.
“A nice room!” she said. “I can read to you if you like.”
“No, let’s talk,” replied Laurie.
“All right,” said Jo, “I can talk for hours. My sisters say I never know when to stop.”
“You have three sisters—Amy, Beth and Meg.” Laurie continued.
“How do you know this ” Jo was surprised.
“We know all our neighbours except you.” Jo said, “I’m glad we’re friends now.”
She told him about all the interesting things in her life. She said, “Besides plays, I also love
books.” Laurie loved books too, and offered to show her the library in the house. The library was a

“Wow!” she said, “All those books!”
Laurie said, “A person needs more than books.”
