“Make-A-Wish” is one of the world’s most well-known charities (慈善机构). It makes
wishes come true for children who have serious illnesses. It gives them hope and joy and helps
them forget about their health problems and have fun.
It all started in 1980 in Phoenix, Arizona, Christopher was a 7-year-old boy who was very
sick. He always dreamed of becoming a police officer. Tommy Austin and Ron Cox, two police
officers, made his wish come true. They gave Christopher a tour of the city in a police helicopter
(直升飞机) and made a real police uniform for him.
There are four kinds of wishes children usually have:
I wish to go. Children usually want to travel or go to a concert, a game or a park.
I wish to meet. Children sometimes want to meet their favourite actors, singers or players.
I wish to be. Some children wish to become actors, singers or train drivers.
I wish to have. They often want to have a computer, a game, a bike or many other things.
Let’s hope more wishes will come true in the future. People who work in the charity always
try for the best. Almost 25,000 volunteers (志愿者) help, work or give money. Will you be one of

Now, primary students learn cooking at school. Teachers and parents discuss it. Some think
that it is a useful skill for students, while others think it’s a waste (浪费) of time. Some even think
it’s just a show. But do they really understand cooking
It’s said that good cooking is an art form. The truth is that it’s much more than that. During
learning to cook, students measure materials to decide how much oil or how heavy each food they
need. Besides, they may find oil and water don’t usually mix. As a result, students learn maths and
science in practice.
The importance of failures in making food is as much as successes. Li Mei, 11, was crazy
about the yummy cakes made by her father and wanted to make one by herself. But when taking
her cake out, she was upset to find that the cake was hard and black at the bottom (底部). Her
father told her when he was 13, he tried to make cakes, but failed many times. Then with her
father’s help, Li Mei made a cake successfully. Li Mei learned from the failure of cooking, and
could be braver to face failures.
Cooking can not only practice skills, but also build character. It encourages (鼓励) kids to
work with others. It also encourages them to be open to foods they don’t like. Though being good
for our health, carrots were hated by 12-year-old Xiao Lei. But he started to love them after he
made a salad with them. By cooking, students develop the habit of doing labor work.
As part of labor education, cooking is a way to teach kids skills, such as creativity (创造性)
and teamwork. They can live a better life with these skills in the future.
61.What does the writer think of “learning cooking” from paragraph 1
A.It is a boring show. B.It’s just a useful skill.
C.It’s really a waste of time. D.It needs better understanding.
62.What does the underlined word “measure” mean in Chinese
A.称量 B.采购 C.处理 D.筛选
63.What does the writer think of failure in cooking
A.There is no failure in cooking.
B.Cooking is sure to be a failure at last.
C.Failure is more important than success.
D.Cooking can help students face failures bravely.
64.Why does the writer mention (提及) the change of Xiao Lei
A.To encourage kids to work with others.
B.To show carrots are good for our health.
C.To tell kids to be open to different foods.
D.To discuss bow to make a salad with carrots.
65.What is the text mainly about
A.The instructions of making food.
B.The introduction of school subjects.
C.The importance of failures in making food.
D.The benefits of learning cooking for students.

If you find yourself feeling a little less cheerful than you were when days are going from
summer to autumn, it’s not your imagination (幻觉). 66
“It’s true,” said Kathryn Roecklein. “The changes don’t always affect everyone in the same
way. But seasonal mood changes often include (包 括 ) less energy, losing interest in favorite
activities and changes in sleep. 67 ”
There are a lot of reasons why our moods change with the season, but a big factor (因素) is
light. “The hours of day, which are shortest in winter and longest in summer, are the main reason,”
Roecklein said. 68 So it’s not surprising if you feel those mood changes around the
same time.
We should remember that “winter blues” is not something we can’t get over. 69
First, get yourself bathed in the sun. A walk outside in the sun in the morning will certainly make
you feel better. Second, eat healthily. 70 What’s more, make time for your friends. A
good chat with your best friends makes your day.
A.Here are a few things you can do.
B.We can ask the doctors to give us some advice.
C.Try more fruit, vegetables and drink lots of water.

By cooking, students develop the habit of doing labor work.

and teamwork. They can live a better life with these skills in the future.
