The Asian Elephant Breeding and Rescue Center(亚洲象种源繁育及救助中心), located in the forests in Xishuangbanna, is built to give careful protection to wild elephants.
Though the forests have rich food and water for the elephants, it can also be difficult for elephants to live in the wild if they get ill or hurt.
In August 2015, people found a baby elephant that was less than one month old at the door of a farmer's house in Pu'er city.Doctors from the rescue center came and took the animal to their center. She was seriously ill.Luckily, the baby elephant finally became healthy at the center.
Now there are 11 rescued Asian elephants living at the center.27 keepers are caring for them—they spend more than 10 hours with them each day. Thanks to these hard-working keepers, the number of Asian wild elephants in Yunnan has reached 300 from 150 over the past 30 years.
Another important job is to help the elephants adapt(适应) to living in the wild.
“Some skills can only be learnt in the wild,” said Zhou Fangyi, a worker at the center.Every day, Zhou spends at least 6 hours training the elephants in the wild, helping them master skills such as looking for food and adapting to the environment.
To protect villagers' vegetables and fruit, the local government offers a special place for the elephants to look for food. They also watch the elephants' activities and stop the elephants from attacking(攻击) villagers.

It's my great honor to speak here.Animals are our good friends. We should be nice to them. But now some animals are in great danger.People kill too many of them for their meat or fur.And they also cut down many trees and take away their homes.Animals have no place to live in.So they are becoming fewer and fewer.
