Hi! I'm Kangkang. My granny has lived in Beijing for more than forty years. She has seen the changes in Beijing herself.
In the 1960s, the living conditions in the city were poor. The roads were narrow and there weren't many ring roads. Usually, a big family was crowded in a small house. Many families couldn't get enough food and only a few children had the chance to receive a good education. Life was so hard that people had no time or money to enjoy free activities. People communicated with their friends and relatives far away mainly by letter or telegram.

My favorite thing from childhood is a toy car. I have had it for 8 years. My father gave it to me when I was five years old.
I like it so much because I played with it every day until I went to school. It's special to me because it was my fifth birthday gift that my father bought.
