What will our world be like in the future Different people have different answers, but one thing is sure that it will be very different from the world today. Here are some ideas.
Thanks to the robots, our lives will be easier. Roberts will be able to make cars, look after sick people and teach students. And they don’t mind doing dirty or difficult jobs, and can work for long hours without getting tired or bored. Some robots work in dangerous places-under the sea or in space. People will have less and less work to do and spend most of their time playing sports and traveling, so they will become stronger and healthier.
As for travelling, you can see lots of self-driving cars and buses on the road because special computers will control (控制) them with the help of 5G. Many companies are now planning self-driving cars. By 2045, driverless cars will be the main transport on the road. Maybe every family will own a personal flying car. We could fly at 480km per hour. However, some people believe there will be problems with traffic. If the flying cars become popular, there is likely to be an air traffic jam. And what will happen if the cars stop working
Where will people live People will be able to live in the sea, on the moon or on the Mars. The Earth won’t be crowded or noisy. So there will be much space for people to plant trees. There will be less pollution. Some people think maybe will live in the house with wings (翅膀) on both sides of the house, and there are many different kinds of wings. Wherever you want to go, the flying house can take you there in a short time.
Moreover, people used to pay with cash (现金) for everything we bought. In fact, we are already using one kind of digital (数字的) money when we take a bus or use a credit card (信用卡) to shop online. You have to say that using digital money is much easier than using cash. It is also safer than taking a lot of cash with you.
Technology is also improving people's happiness. Blind people may have a chance to get their sight back-by wearing bionic eyes (仿生眼). A blind eye can no longer sense light, but a bionic eye can use camera to “see” and send the message into brain. Although the bionic eye now only help patients to see lights and unclear shapes a better and clearer bionic eye could be just a few years away.
4.How many ideas of the future are mentioned
A.Three B.Four C.Five D.Six.
5.Why will there be less pollution in the earth
A.There will be no cars on the road.
B.Many factories will be closed or shut down.
C.No one will live in the earth any more.
D.There will be less people and more space to plant tress.
6.The passage mainly tells us ________.
A.life in the future B.technology in the future
C.money in the future D.travelling in the future

Supermarkets are trying out new computers that make shopping carts (购物车) more intelligent (智能的). They will help shoppers find paper cups or toilet soap, and keep a record of the bill.
The touch-screen devices (触屏装置) are on show at the Food Marketing Institute’s exhibition (展览) here this week, “These devices are able to create value and get you around the store quicker,” said Michael Alexander, manager of Springboard Retail Networks Company, which makes a smart cart computer called the Concierge.
Canadian stores will test the Concierge in July. A similar device, IBM’s “Shopping Buddy”, has recently been test-marketed at Stop & Shop stores in Massachusetts.
Neither device tells you how many fat grams (克) are in your cart, but they will quickly show you items (物品) on sale. The idea is to make it easier for people to buy, not to have second thoughts that maybe you should put something back on the shelf.
When people at the store, a shopper can use a preferred customer card, which is based on people’s shopping lists they have made at home, to start a system. This system will organize the trip around the store. If you’re looking for toothbrushes, you type in the word or pick it from a list, and a map will appear on the screen showing where you are and where you can find them.
The device also keeps a record of what you buy. When you’re finished, the device counts out your bill. Then you go to the checker or place your card into a self-checkout stand and pay.
The new computerized shopping assistants (助手) don’t come cheap. The Buddy devices will cost the average store about 160,000 for all devices, and the Concierge will cost stores about $500 for each device.

There were many people in the restaurant and all of them were happy. Rose told me to sit and drink coffee by the window. Then she went to work in the kitchen. After about 20 minutes, she came out and sat with me. She just paid for one meal and we started to enjoy the delicious food together.
She told me that the restaurant let people work for a meal if they had no money,
or would give them a free meal if they could not work. To my surprise, she also told me that the workers there were all volunteers.

My name’s Ella, and I’m 22. Last year I went to Thailand for two weeks with my sister Josie. We went to help as part of a group of volunteers at an elephant sanctuary (大象保护区)—a place where people look after sick and saved elephants.
One of our main jobs at the sanctuary was to collect the elephants’ food. Elephants eat a lot of grass and banana plants, so collecting this took most of the day. After that, we also helped wash the elephants in the river using big brushes and soap (肥皂). I found that so much fun, even if I got wetter than the elephants did! The part of the day I most looked forward to was the evening. By the light of the moon, we walked with the elephants into the forest area where they spent the night.
All the volunteers stayed in the same house. The meals were delicious. There was some meat and fish. We liked them best. After dinner, all the volunteers spent the evenings talking, singing and dancing.
Now we’re back in the UK. Josie doesn’t often talk about Thailand. I think her heart (心) is full of sorrow that she didn’t make good use of her time there because she was missing her friends too much.
