细节题:锁定具体时间、地点、行为(如“What did Li Hua do after the accident ”)。
→ 选项“research supports this”)。
曲解原意:替换关键词(如原文“he regretted” → 选项“he was proud”)。
Maria recycled paper daily. She believed everyone’s effort could make a difference.
题目:What can we learn from Maria’s actions
答案:Small daily actions matter for environmental protection.
动作描写类:burst into tears, hesitate, persevere.

The cold wind swept away the last piece of warmth. A dead leaf fell at Soapy’s feet. That
was a special sign for him that the cold winter was coming.
The three months’ life in the prison (监狱) on Blackwell’s island was what he wanted.
Three months of free food every day and a bed every night, three months safe from cops (警察).
This seemed the most expected thing to Soapy in the world. For years, the prison had been his
winter home.
There were many easy ways of doing this. The best way was having a good dinner at a fine
restaurant. Then he would say that he had no money to pay. And then a cop would be called. The
cop would catch him. He would be taken to a judge (法官). The judge would do the rest. Thinking
about this, he had a spark of hope in his heart.
But when Soapy put his foot inside the restaurant door, the waiter saw his broken old shoes
and clothes. Strong hands pushed Soapy around and moved him outside again. The failure for the
first time let him down.
Days later, Soapy went to a shop. It had a wide glass window. Soapy picked up a big stone
and threw it through the glass. People came running around the corner. A cop was the first among
them. Soapy stood still, and he smiled happily when he saw the cop.
“Where’s the man that did that ” asked the cop.
“Don’t you think that I might have done it ” said Soapy. What he wanted was coming
toward him.
But the cop didn’t consider Soapy. That’s because men who break windows do not stop
there to talk to cops. They run away as fast as they can. The cop saw a man further along the
street, running. He ran after him. Soapy’s heart was filled with sadness, and he walked slowly
away. He had failed two times.

This year, my friend Mareya and I decided to be “resolution partners” and write our
resolutions together. We made a list of things each of us would do every single day:
“Of course, we’ll have to set our alarms an hour earlier to manage to finish everything in a
day,” said Mareya.
The next morning, when I walked into the kitchen at 5:45, my dad was so surprised to see
me. I handed him the list. “From now on, I’m waking up early.”
“This is a lot to do in every day,” he said, as he looked over the list.
“I already did resolution number 1,” I said, showing off my braids (发 辫 ). “Now I’m
making cookies before school for the second resolution.” When I arrived at school, Mareya
enjoyed my cookies so much.
“What are you two eating ” Tyrone asked when lunchtime came.
“I have an egg, spinach (菠菜), orange, and onion sandwich,” I answered. “And I have a
tuna, broccoli, tomato, and banana wrap,” said Mareya.
“Do those things actually taste good ” Miguel asked.
Mareya took the list out of her pocket and explained, “Resolution number 3 says our lunch
has to be healthy, not necessarily delicious.”
“Speaking of resolutions,” I said to Mareya, “if we’re still going to finish number 4 before
the bell rings, we’d better hurry.” Luckily, we managed to read our chapters. Unluckily, we both
had lots of homework in the afternoon, so we didn’t have time to do something big to help the
planet.
“Well,” said Mareya, “I guess if we’re going to have time for everything on our list, we’re
going to have to wake up even earlier.” “Earlier !” I shouted. “I can hardly stay awake now.”
But I couldn’t let my resolution partner down, so we agreed to set our alarms half an hour
earlier. Even with much more time, though, it was hard to finish everything. When we had to
discuss our book reports, we were sleepy the whole way through. By Friday, we were so
exhausted.
That afternoon, Mareya and I decided to make up a whole NEW New Year’s resolution list.
It was shorter, simpler, and, best of all, doable:
1.Try to eat healthily.
2.Try not to waste water, electricity, paper, or plastic.
3.Try to be kind.
Of course, we still like to make foods and try new hairstyles, but not every day. And we are
still hoping to do something big to help the planet, but that will take more planning.
So here’s my one resolution tip: ___________!
1.Which is the correct order of the resolutions from 1 to 5 on the first list
① Make a delicious food. ② Wear a cool new hairstyle. ③ Eat a super-healthy lunch.

A small white envelope (信封) stuck among the branches of our Christmas tree and it has
been there for the past ten years or so.
It all began because my husband Justin hated Christmas—oh, not the true meaning of
pared to the difficult experience of choosing gifts and running around at the last
minute to get a tie for Uncle Harry and a pair of gloves for Grandma, spending money is nothing.
Knowing Justin felt the same way, I decided one year not to buy the usual shirts, sweaters,
ties as gifts. I reached for something special just for Justin. The idea came in an unusual way. Our
son Kevin, who was 12 that year, was wrestling (摔 跤 ) at the junior level. Shortly before
Christmas, there was a match against a team sponsored (赞助) by a local church. These boys,
dressed in such worn-out shoes that shoe ties seemed to be the only thing holding them together,
while our boys were in their blue and gold uniforms and new wrestling shoes.
As the match began, I was shocked to see that the other team were wrestling without
wearing helmets (头 盔 ) to protect their ears. Well, our boys ended up winning. Justin, seated
beside me, shook his head sadly, “I wish just one of them could have won,” he said. “They have a
lot of talent, but losing like this could take the heart out of them.” Justin loved kids, and he knew
them. That’s when the idea for his present came. That afternoon, I went to a sporting goods store
and bought different kinds of wrestling helmets and shoes. I sent them to the church without
leaving my name.
On Christmas Eve, I placed the envelope on the tree, the note inside telling Justin what I
had done and that was his gift from me. His smile was the brightest thing about Christmas that
year and since then the envelope has become the highlight of our Christmas.
1.What may Justin hate about Christmas
A.Sharing joy. B.Spreading love. C.Spending money. D.Choosing gifts.
2.What might be the main reason for the church team’s failure
A.They were poor in skills. B.They didn’t have enough members.
C.They didn’t have helmets and proper shoes. D.They didn’t have the talent.
3.What was the writer’s Christmas gift for her husband that year
A.A ticket to a wrestling match. B.Wrestling helmets and shoes.
C.An white envelop with a note. D.An act of kindness as he wished.
4.Why is the small white envelope so important for the writer and her husband
A.Because it brought the biggest smile to Justin for that Christmas.
B.Because it was the first time for them to send gifts to the church.
C.Because it showed the writer’s love and care to her husband.
D.Because behind the envelope lies the true meaning of Christmas.

When I was young, I loved paper cutting and I was pretty good at it. As I grew up, I became
busy and didn’t have much time for it. Later, I stopped doing it.
However, the news I came across online touched my heart and changed my mind. A little
girl from Jieyang, Guangdong was practicing lion dance when a professional lion dance
performance team (专业舞狮表演队) passed by. As soon as they saw the girl practicing, they
started to beat drums and gongs for her and quickly she did a lion dance in return. People around
all cheered for her. Her love for the ancient Chinese culture evoked my strong memories of paper
cutting.

paper, she could create lively works (作品). That amazed us. And we learned much from her.
Together, we created lots of works. They covered many topics, including animals, flowers and
things about Chinese history. Every time we held a paper cutting show, our works attracted many
