Part 1
Lead-in
One day, a famous painting is stolen from the museum. The police are called immediately.
When the museum was checked, the security cameras were found to be broken. The guards were questioned, but no clues were given.

Right now, the painting is being searched for all over the city. Many people are being interviewed by the police.
A week later, the painting was finally discovered in an old warehouse. It had been hidden there by a thief. Luckily, the artwork wasn’t damaged.
The thief was arrested, and the painting will be returned to the museum soon. Now, better security systems are being installed to prevent future thefts.

1. 当需要突出动作的对象(即主动语态中的宾语),而非执行动作的主体(主语)时,使用被动语态。
主动语态:The company will hire five new employees.
(强调 “公司” 执行招聘动作)
被动语态:Five new employees will be hired by the company. (强调 “新员工” 被招聘的结果)

2. 当不知道、没必要或不想明确说出动作执行者时,使用被动语态(省略 “by + 执行者”)。
主动语态:Someone stole my wallet.
有人偷了我的钱包。(执行者 “某人” 未知)
被动语态:My wallet was stolen.
我的钱包被偷了。(仅需说明 “钱包被偷” 的事实)

3. 当主动语态的主语过长或复杂时,改用被动语态可使句子结构更平衡。
主动语态:The committee that consists of ten experts will review the proposal.(主语 “委员会” 带复杂定语,冗长)
被动语态:The proposal will be reviewed by the committee that consists of ten experts.(主语 “提案” 简洁,宾语后置)

需明确动作执行者时:The chef prepared this dish.(强调 “厨师” 的贡献)
表达动作的主动性或生动性时:The cat chased the mouse.(主动语态更具画面感)
句子结构冗余时:避免过度使用被动导致语义拖沓(如 “The ball was kicked by John” 不如 “John kicked the ball” 简洁)。

(1) 肯定形式:主语 + be(am/is/are) + being + done

① 表示正在进行的被动动作(说话时动作正在发生),句中常有now, right now, at the moment, at present 等时间状语。
The room is being cleaned by my sister.
房间正在被我姐姐打扫。
A new song is being sung on the stage.
舞台上正在演唱一首新歌。
现在进行时的被动语态的基本用法
② 表示现阶段正在进行的被动动作(说话时不一定在进行,而是近期一段时间内持续的动作)。
Many trees are being planted along the river this month.
这个月正在沿河种植许多树。
The project is being discussed by the team members recently.

③ 有时可表示按计划或安排将要进行的一个被动动作,强调动作已被安排。
The party is being prepared by the students tomorrow.

④ 与 always, constantly, frequently, forever 等频度副词连用时,可表示反复发生的习惯性被动行为,并通过语气传达赞扬、埋怨、厌烦等情感色彩。
The classroom is always being left messy by someone.
教室总是被某人弄得乱七八糟。
She is constantly being praised by teachers for her hard work.
她总是因努力学习被老师表扬。
注意
1. 现在进行时的被动语态不可用于静态动词,表示状态、所属或感官的静态动词(如 have, belong, know, seem, love 等)无被动语态,也不用于进行时态。
The house is being belonged to my family.(错误)
The house belongs to my family.(正确,表所属)

Her opinion seems reasonable.(正确,表感官)
注意
2. 现在进行时的被动语态必须使用及物动词(直接接宾语的动词)的过去分词,而常见不及物动词(如 arrive, happen, die, exist, occur)无被动形式。
The train is being arrived at 8 PM.
The train will arrive at 8 PM.
An accident was being happened yesterday.
An accident occurred yesterday.
注意
3. 现在进行时的被动语态中,频度副词需置于 be 动词之后、being 之前,不可直接放在 being 后。另外,需注意,never 虽非频度副词,但用法类似,需置于 be 动词后。

注意
4. 当 "动词 + 介词" 构成的短语(如 look after, talk about, think of , take care of等)用于现在进行时的被动语态时,介词必须保留,不可省略。
结构:主语 + am/is/are + being + 动词过去分词 + 介词 + 宾语
主动语态:She is taking care of the baby.
被动语态:The baby is being taken care of (by her). (of 不可省略)
