Inspired by Marco Polo, who traveled to China along the ancient Silk Road more than 700 years ago, Italian traveler Vienna-Cammarota set off from the legendary explorer’s hometown Venice on April 26th, 2022, to retrace the route on foot.
With a simple backpack and two trekking poles (徒步手杖), 74-year-old Cammarota has covered 20, 000 km and passed through dozens of countries. The moment she set foot in China on August 29th, she was warmly greeted by people who put on traditional dance and singing performances for her arrival via Irkeshtam, the country’s farthest-west land port in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
Starting from Xinjiang, Cammarota has embarked on a 15-month cultural journey across China and will explore over 30 cities in 17 provinces. Her journey will come to an end in Beijing to mark the 750th anniversary of Marco Polo’s arrival in China.
Throughout her trip, Cammarota witnessed the transformation of the ancient Silk road into a corridor of economic and cultural exchange, “I have seen the bridges, highways, and railways built under China’s Belt and Road Initiative which connect countries in a way that echoes the Silk Road’s historical role in facilitating trade and cultural exchange.”
Last year, Cammarota reached Tajikistan, where she visited the China-Tajikistan highway project. The infrastructure project, once completed, is expected to enhance regional connectivity and bring new opportunities. “This project embodies the spirit of BRI — bring hope and development to the countries along the path,” she said.
For Cammarota, this journey is more than retracing Marco Polo’s footsteps. She hopes her travel will help people in Italy and the West see the true beauty and greatness of China. “This is a land filled with numerous UNESCO heritage sites, cutting-edge technology, and a harmonious balance between urban development and natural preservation,” she said.
Describing herself as an ambassador of cultural exchange and mordern-day Marco Polo, Cammarota noted that “I want people to know about Marco Polo and the Silk Road, but I also want to send a message to women of my age — it’s never too late to pursue your dream”
24.What can we learn about Cammarota
A.She fully equipped herself with devices before departure.

A.Reflects. B.Cites. C.Anticipates. D.Adapts.
26.Which is NOT the purpose for Cammarota to set about her journey

B.To gain recognition from the public.
C.To set a positive example to her peers.
D.To bridge the communication between the West and China.
27.Why did Cammarota name herself as an ambassador of cultural exchange
A.Because she is totally qualified for the position.
B.Because she has undertaken the task without any hesitation.
C.Because she has applied the theory into practice successfully.
D.Because she has committed herself to promoting cultural exchange.
While accidents and incidents do happen, in this day and age, roller coasters (过山车) are generally considered safe. This wasn’t always the case: Early roller coasters and other rides were uncomfortable at best, and dangerous at worst. One pioneer to the roller coaster were the Ice Slides-hills constructed of wood and ice-found in Russia in the 16th century. After an exhausting climb up a set of stairs, riders would dash down the slope (坡) on a block of ice with a pile of straw as the seat. Fun! In the early 1800s, a wheeled version made its way to France, making it more similar to modern roller coasters. Except that the wheels would often come off and the cars wouldn’t stop at the bottom of the hill. Less fun!
Coasters only got more dangerous in the next century. Consider the infamous Coney Island Rough Riders roller coaster, which killed seven people in a five-year span from 1910 to 1915 before it was shut down. The coaster was an honor to Theodore Roosevelt and his “Rough Riders,” the soldiers who fought in the Spanish-American War. But the coaster was almost as dangerous as Battle of San Juan Hill: According to PBS, in one accident, the speeding coaster threw off 16 people, killing four. In another accident, the coaster jumped the track and caused three deaths. One woman survived the dangerous hanging from a rail with one hand, holding her child with the other hand.
Another great place to get injured was New Jersey’s Action Park, which did its damage from 1978 to 1996 before closing. How bad was Action Park A few years ago, my New Jersey-born wife got an email that said “You know you’re from New Jersey when ... you’ve been seriously injured at Action Park.”

Fitness Magazine recently ran an article titled “Five Reasons to Thank Your Workout Partner.” One reason was: “You’ll actually show up if you know someone is waiting for you at the gym, ” while another read: “ 36 ” With a workout partner, you will increase your training effort as there is a subtle (微妙) competition.
So, how do you find a workout partner
First of all, decide what you want from that person. 37 Or do you just want to be physically fit, able to move with strength and flexibility Think about the exercises you would like to do with your workout partner.
You might think about posting what you are looking for on social media, but it probably won’t result in a useful response. 38 If you plan on working out in a gym, that person must belong to the same gym.
My partner posted her request on the notice board of a local park. Her notice included what kind of training she wanted to do, how many days a week and how many hours she wanted to spend on each session, and her age. It also listed her favorite sports and activities, and provided her phone number. 39
You and your partner will probably have different skills. 40 Over time, both of you will benefit—your partner will be able to lift more weights and you will become more physically fit. The core (核心) of your relationship is that you will always be there to help each other.
A.Your first meeting may be a little awkward.
B.A workout partner usually needs to live close by.
C.You’ll work harder if you train with someone else.
D.Do you want to be a better athlete in your favorite sport
E.How can you write a good “seeking training partner” notice
F.Just accept your differences and learn to work with each other.
G.Any notice for a training partner should include such information.

Joel Kruisselbrink, an exercise advisor at Lelie Zorggroep, Holland, is a social worker, coach and fitness advisor of the elderly in nursing homes.
Joel found many seniors would spend their days doing nothing and sleeping away and their bodies became weak easily, especially in the changing seasons. Joel realized that he should do something for them to make a change for better.
“How can I inspire the elderly to start moving ” he asked himself. He tried to share the goods of sports with them, but with little result. There were many reasons for this. One main reason is that there is little money for fitness equipment. Another is that it is really boring to do exercises.
Finally, the answer came through his young child, who showed him the joy of playing with everyday materials. The boy would happily run after a balloon here and there, or climb up and down for a beautiful leaf, or joyfully play with some sticks. Anyway, these materials are all easy to be found in our daily life. But he noticed that it should be enjoyable for the players, especially there are more players.
“Play is the key to getting active!” he said.
Joel believed that when movement is made fun and interesting, it no longer feels like exercise.
He also found that group challenges can create chances to develop social skills, build friendships, and support each other in their physical fitness journeys. “The most beautiful thing is to see the seniors’ smiles!” he said. The smiles may show a person’s inner part and may do good to one’s whole health.
注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;
Joel began introducing simple, fun games and exercises that get them moving and smiling.

M: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the city zoo’s newest show, World of Darkness. Here is a new world of night animals to you. Not too many years ago, zoo visitors were unable to watch the behavior of night animals because these animals were active during the night and generally slept during the day when the zoo was open to visitors. But in the 1960s, zookeepers at the Bronx Zoo in New York city found a way to settle this problem and develop the system that we now use in our show. The animals living places are lit with white light at night. Then the animals think the white light is daylight, so of course they go to sleep. During the day, their living places are lit with red light, which makes the animals think it is at night so that they will be active. On the other hand, the red light enables visitors to watch these animals going about the normal activities at night. So just enjoy your visit to the World of Darkness and enjoy watching these amazing animals of the night. And remember, next month is the opening of World Down Under, a new show of Australian animals. Are you looking forward to learning about Australian animals in person Well, you are lucky, just please come and join us for that event.

She hopes her travel will help people in Italy and the West see the true beauty and greatness of China.(对Cammarota来说,这次旅行不仅仅是重走马可 波罗的足迹。 以及最后一段“Describing herself as an ambassador of cultural exchange and mordern - day Marco Polo, Cammarota noted that ‘I want people to know about Marco Polo and the Silk Road, but I also want to send a message to women of my age—it’s never too late to pursue your dream’(Cammarota 将自己描述为文化交流大使和现代马可 波罗,她指出:‘我想让人们了解马可 波罗和丝绸之路,但我也想向我这个年龄的女性传递一个信息 —— 追求梦想永远不嫌晚’)”可知,她致力于促进文化交流,所以称自己为文化交流大使。

根据第一段中的“While accidents and incidents do happen, in this day and age, roller coasters (过山车) are generally considered safe. This wasn’t always the case: Early roller coasters and other rides were uncomfortable at best, and dangerous at worst.(虽然事故和事件确实会发生,在当今时代,过山车通常被认为是很安全的。然而情况并非总是如此:早期的过山车和其他游乐设施最好的情况下是不舒服的,最坏的情况下则是危险的。)”可知,文章开头指出当今的过山车通常被认为是安全的,随后立即转折到过去的情况,强调了时代的变迁和进步,由此可知,作者通过对比现在过山车的安全性和早期过山车的危险性来引入话题。故选A项。
根据第一段中的“One pioneer to the roller coaster were the Ice Slides-hills constructed of wood and ice-found in Russia in the 16th century.(过山车的先驱之一是16世纪在俄罗斯出现的冰滑梯——这些由木头和冰建造的山坡。)” 故选A项。
根据第二段中的“The coaster was an honor to Theodore Roosevelt and his “Rough Riders,” the soldiers who fought in the Spanish-American War.(这辆过山车是为了向西奥多·罗斯福和他的“Rough Riders”致敬,这些士兵参加了美西战争。)”
根据首段中的“Except that the wheels would often come off and the cars wouldn’t stop at the bottom of the hill. Less fun!(除了车轮经常会脱落,汽车不会停在山脚下。不好玩!)”可知,在描述与现代的过山车相似的那种过山车时,提到车轮子脱落这样的滑稽可笑的事情,也说明了这种过山车的危险,结合尾段中的“Another great place to get injured was New Jersey’s Action Park, which did its damage from 1978 to 1996 before closing. How bad was Action Park A few years ago, my New Jersey-born wife got an email that said “You know you’re from New Jersey when ... you’ve been seriously injured at Action Park.”(另一个容易受伤的地方是新泽西的Action Park(动感公园),该公园从1978年到1996年间造成了不少伤害,直到关闭。

根据最后一段“Besides their tasks, the crew of Shenzhou XVII paid New Year greetings to the Chinese nation on China’s space station on February 9, 2024.(除了他们的任务,2024年2月9日,神舟十七号机组人员还在中国空间站向中华民族拜年)”可知,C选项“当农历新年到来的时候,他们在太空向全国人民问好”正确。故选C。
根据第一段“Three astronauts stationed in China’s Tiangong space station are preparing for their return trip in the middle of April, packing up personal items, experimental products and other materials, putting equipment into place and exercising to prepare their bodies for Earth’s gravity.(驻扎在中国天宫空间站的三名宇航员正在为4月中旬的返程做准备,他们正在打包个人物品、实验产品和其他材料,将设备安置到位,并进行锻炼,为身体适应地球引力做好准备)”可推知,4月中旬在做准备,即神舟十八将于4月下旬发射。故选B。
根据第一段“Three astronauts stationed in China’s Tiangong space station are preparing for their return trip in the middle of April, packing up personal items, experimental products and other materials, putting equipment into place and exercising to prepare their bodies for Earth’s gravity.(驻扎在中国天宫空间站的三名宇航员正在为4月中旬的返程做准备,他们正在打包个人物品、实验产品和其他材料,将设备安置到位,并进行锻炼,为身体适应地球引力做好准备)”结合文章主要介绍了中国三名宇航员准备返回地球,正在作相关的准备工作。

36.根据前文“Fitness Magazine recently ran an article titled “Five Reasons to Thank Your Workout Partner.” One reason was: “You’ll actually show up if you know someone is waiting for you at the gym,”(《健身杂志》最近刊登了一篇题为《感谢健身伙伴的五个理由》的文章。一个理由是:“如果你知道有人在健身房等你,你就会去锻炼。”)”以及后文“With a workout partner, you will increase your training effort as there is a subtle (微妙) competition. (有一个锻炼伙伴,你将会努力训练,因为你们之间有一个微妙的竞争)”可知,空处陈述另一个和别人一起锻炼的理由,故选项应与后文是顺承关系,选项C中的“train with someone else”与后文的“With a workout partner”相对应,选项C“You’ll work harder if you train with someone else.(如果你和别人一起训练,你会更努力)”符合语意。故选C项。
37.根据前文“First of all, decide what you want from that person. (首先,决定你想从那个人身上得到什么)”和后文“Or do you just want to be physically fit, able to move with strength and flexibility (或者你只是想要身体健康,能够移动的力量和灵活性 )”可知,这里是一个问句,反问自己结伴锻炼的目的,故空处与后文是选择关系,你要知道你锻炼是为了什么。所以选项D“Do you want to be a better athlete in your favorite sport (你想在你最喜欢的运动项目上成为更好的运动员吗 )”与后文在语意上构成选择关系。故选D项。
38.根据前文“You might think about posting what you are looking for on social media, but it probably won't result in a useful response. (你可能会考虑在社交媒体上发布你想要的东西,但可能不会得到有用的回应)”和后文“If you plan on working out in a gym, that person must belong to the same gym.(如果你打算在健身房锻炼,那个人一定是同一个健身房的)”可知,寻找的锻炼伙伴要具有便利性的特点。选项B中的“live close by”与后文的“belong to the same gym”相对应,选项B“A workout partner usually needs to live close by. (锻炼伙伴通常需要住在附近)”与下文是顺承关系。故选B项。
39.根据前文“My partner posted her request on the notice board of a local park. Her notice included what kind of training she wanted to do, how many days a week and how many hours she wanted to spend on each session, and her age. It also listed her favorite sports and activities, and provided her phone number. (我的搭档把她的要求贴在了当地公园的布告栏上。她的注意事项包括她想要做什么样的锻炼,每周多少天,每次培训要花多少小时,以及她的年龄。它还列出了她最喜欢的运动和活动,并提供了她的电话号码)”可知,本段作者以自己的锻炼伙伴为例,说明寻找锻炼伙伴布告所要包括的信息。所以选项G“Any notice for a training partner should include such information. (任何锻炼伙伴的布告都应包括这些信息)”是对上文内容的总结,符合语意。故选G项。
40.根据前文“You and your partner will probably have different skills. (你和你的伴侣可能有不同的技能)”和后文“Over time, both of you will benefit—your partner will be able to lift more weights and you will become more physically fit. The core (核心) of your relationship is that you will always be there to help each other. (久而久之,你们双方都会受益—你的伴侣会举起更多的重量,你也会变得更健康。你们关系的核心是你们永远在一起互相帮助)”可知,要学会求同存异,一起合作,共同提高。选项F中的“differences”对应前文的“different skills”,选项中的“work with each other”对应后文的“be there to help each other”,故选项F“Just accept your differences and learn to work with each other. (接受你们的不同,学会彼此合作)”起到承上启下的作用,符合语意。故选F项。

56.考查时态和语态。句意:中国第一本面向高中生的人工智能(AI)教材上周出版了,这是在中央政府计划将人工智能课程纳入中小学课程之后推出的。空处在句中作谓语,句子主语textbook与动词bring之间为被动关系,所以要用被动语态,又因句中有时间状语last week,所以要用一般过去时的被动语态,主语为单数名词,be动词用was。故填was brought。
故填to include。
