In 2004, 20-year-old Wu Xiong became the headteacher of Tangfang Primary School in Bailing Town, Xingren City, Guizhou. At that time, the school had only an old house, 3 teachers and 75 students. Even worse, many children there showed little interest in going to school. To solve this problem, Wu turned to sports.
In 2006, the school organized its first sports meeting. “We made a simple ping-pong table for a competition,” Wu said. Over time, badminton, long-distance running and other events appeared in the sports meeting, making it more popular with the students.
As the situation slowly improved, Tangfang Primary School got better and better. In 2009, the school became a boarding school 寄宿学校 with hundreds of students. School life was even more necessary to make the students’ after - school life more colorful.
