Recent studies clearly show that the shoes we put on every day, especially
sneakers, have a big impact on our body posture and joint health. This is especially
obvious in winter. The cold weather makes our joints more delicate and thus more
likely to be affected.
A revolutionary kind of shoes, the Glacia Barefoot shoes, has been created. It
first became a great hit in Europe and then quickly became popular in America.
These shoes are the result of the hard work of Canadian podiatrists. They had
two main aims. One was to find ways to stop and reduce joint pain in patients. The
other was to deal with many common foot problems. For example, bunions are
painful swellings near the base of the big toe, calluses are thickened areas of skin, and
plantar fasciitis is an inflammation(炎症,发炎)on the bottom of the foot. After three
3
years of development, they were introduced in the United States and got an immediate
and warm response.
The Glacia Barefoot shoes feature a minimalist design. They are much lighter
than ordinary shoes and can be put on as easily as socks. They are also thin and
flexible. The material used is an excellent insulator(绝缘体) against the cold. When
combined with the inner fur lining (内衬), it can protect feet even in extremely cold
weather, as low as — 13°F. Athletes really like them because they are less heavy and
more pleasant to wear than traditional sneakers. Elderly people also give them high
praise. They say that these shoes have made them walk without pain again.
Thanks to the unique design, these shoes can fit any foot shape perfectly. Unlike
regular shoes and snow boots, they don’t compress or twist feet. This is very helpful
in preventing joint pain in the feet, knees, hips and back. Often, this kind of joint pain
is caused by bad body posture due to wearing the wrong shoes. Moreover, it can
effectively prevent a variety of foot conditions, such as hallux valgus(拇趾外翻),
calluses(老茧), corns, plantar fasciitis(足底筋膜炎), flat feet and high arches. In
general, these shoes offer a new option for people to take care of their foot health and
maintain good body posture.
24. What is the purpose of the first paragraph
A. To tell us the function of sneakers.
B. To stress the seriousness of joint pain. C. To introduce the topic of the passage.
D. To inform us how cold weather influences our health.
25. Where did the Glacia Barefoot shoes first gain remarkable success
A. In America. B.In Europe. C. In Canada. D. In Asia.
26. What were the main aims of the Canadian podiatrists in creating the Glacia
Barefoot shoes
A. To relieve joint pain and handle common foot problems.
B. To increase the speed and strength of athletes. C.To make a lot of money and become famous.
D. To change the present fashion tendency of ordinary shoes. 27. Why are the Glacia Barefoot shoes popular among sportsmen
A. Because they have inner fur linings.
B. Because they can improve their performance.
C. Because they can reduce their foot pain.
D. Because they are lighter and more comfortable.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is changing numerous industries worldwide, and
education is no exception. In India, where the education system serves over 250
million students, AI presents both revolutionary opportunities and notable challenges.
AI-powered platforms can help a student struggling with math by offering
customized practice problems, ensuring no learner is left behind. AI technologies can
bridge gaps in education by making learning resources accessible to economically
disadvantaged communities. AI can assist teachers in generating content in line with
4
curriculum requirements, saving time and effort. By automating tasks like grading and
attendance, AI enables educators to focus more on teaching. Additionally, AI can
serve as a virtual assistant to teachers, offering insights into student progress and areas
requiring intervention.
While AI can enhance education, it requires educators to understand and
effectively use these technologies. A lack of teacher training in AI tools can prevent
the successful integration of such technologies into the classroom. To exploit the
potential of AI in education, India must take a balanced approach such as investing in
infrastructure, teacher training, policy support, public-private partnerships and
inclusion initiatives.
The use of AI in education raises questions about data privacy and security.
Ensuring that student data is protected from misuse and breaches (违 约 ) is a
significant challenge. Plus, concerns about AI replacing human educators need to be
addressed. Traditional mindsets (心 态 ) in education, both among educators and
policymakers, can act as a barrier to the adoption of AI. Overcoming this resistance
requires widespread awareness and policy-level support.
AI has the potential to revolutionize education in India, making it more inclusive,
personalized, and future-ready. However, addressing challenges such as the digital
divide, affordability, and ethical concerns is essential to ensure its successful adoption.
With the right strategy and cooperation, AI can empower India to redefine its
education system and equip its youth with the skills needed for the 21st century.
28. What does the author imply about AI in education
A. It helps learners boost productivity. B. It makes class administration easier.
C. It inspires teachers to be innovative. D. It enhances poor regions' economy.
29. What does the underlined word "exploit" in paragraph 3 mean
A. Explore. B. Notice. C. Understand. D. Employ. 30. What limits AI's combination with education in India
A. Unwillingness to change. B. Useless student information.
C. Unpractical teacher training. D. Unjust social backgrounds.
31. Why should AI be integrated into education
A. To bridge the digital divide. B. To reduce costs of education.
C. To keep pace with the times. D. To handle huge uncertainties.
D
We started in 1993 with a simple idea that people could help each other by
sharing stories about their lives. For years people had told our founders, motivational
speakers Jack and Mark, inspiring stories about themselves. Jack and Mark included
these stories in their talks, and their audience repeatedly asked if they had ever been
published. “That story about the boy and the puppy—is that in a book anywhere ” a
parent asked Jack. “That story about the boy with the amputated(截 肢 ) leg who
became a tennis star, I need to read that to my staff,” a manager told him. Jack was
asked repeatedly, “Is that story in a book anywhere ”
Eventually, Jack and Mark decided their audience must be on to something, so they collected the best 101 stories they'd been told in a book. They called it Chicken
5
Soup for the Soul because they wanted it to provide comfort, just like their grandmothers' cooking.
They took the book to New York, hoping to sell it to one of the big publishers,
but every single one turned them down. The project appeared to have stalled until
they met Peter Vegso, the owner of a small health and wellness publisher in Florida
named HCI. Peter read some of the stories and loved them, so he decided to give the
book a chance, becoming Chicken Soup for the Soul's founding publisher.
Never, in Jack and Mark's wildest dreams, had they imagined what the book
would become. Chicken Soup for the Soul turned into one of the most popular books
ever published, selling 11 million copies around the world. Readers asked for more
stories so we published a “second helping” of Chicken Soup for the Soul and a third
after that. Today, we've published more than 250 books, which have become the
best-selling trade paperback book series of all time.
32.What drove Jack and Mark to publish these inspiring stories
A.The rich source of good stories. B.The good chance to be famous.
C.The demand of the audience. D.The benefits from the book.
33.How did the title of the book come from
A.The way of cooking. B.The purpose of the book.
C.The taste of the chicken. D.The experiences of children.
34.Which of the following can replace the underlined word “stalled” in Paragraph 3
A.Progressed. B.Explained. C.Succeeded. D.Stopped.
35.What is the last paragraph mainly about
A.An unexpected success of a book. B.An introduction to a publisher.
C.The wildest dreams of two people. D.People who buy a best seller.

文。
One weekend, when I opened the door, I saw Mrs Thompson, an elderly woman,
struggling with her things outside my door. She was trying to carry several heavy
bags to her home, which was not far away. I was determined to help. So I approached
her and said, “Mrs Thompson, let me give you a hand with those bags.” She looked
relieved and gladly accepted my help, her eyes lighting up with appreciation. “It’s
very kind of you, Alice,” she said with a warm smile. “These bags are actually heavy
for me to carry alone.”
As we walked together towards Mrs Thompson’s house, I started a conversation
with her to make the journey more enjoyable. I learned that Mrs Thompson lived
alone. Her children lived in another city, and she rarely saw them due to their busy
schedules. But luckily, her warm-hearted neighbor, Mr Johnson, often visited and
took care of her. It made me feel a sense of compassion (同情). I could sense her
loneliness and need for company.
Later, I made it a point to regularly stop by Mrs Thompson’s house after school.
When I found she was not well, I offered to help her with various chores (杂活), such
as cleaning the house, watering the plants, and even cooking simple meals. I would
also read to her. She would share stories from her past, recalling her childhood and
9
adventures she had experienced throughout her life. I listened carefully, fascinated by
the richness of her experiences and the wisdom she had gained over the years. Our
relationship got better with each visit, and she began to look forward to our time
together. She tended to await my arrival, and I found comfort in the conversations we
shared. 注意:

四写作
第一节 应用文(15 分)
This afternoon, we had a class discussion about whether it is necessary to tell white
lies. Different people hold different views on this issue.
Some people believe that we need to tell some white lies in some moments in our life
in order to avoid hurting others’ feelings. However, others argue that no one should
tell lies, no matter what kinds of lies. They insist that everybody should know the
truth in any case. People may feel cheated when they know the truth eventually.
As far as I am concerned, when we tell a white lie, we had better consider the
situation at the time and the consequence that it might bring.
第二节(满分 25 分)
Another weekend, however, when I arrived at Mrs Thompson’s house, I found
the door locked. I knocked on the door, but there was no answer. Then I knocked on
Mr Johnson’s door and asked him, “Uncle Johnson, do you know where Mrs
Thompson went ” Mr Johnson told me that Mrs Thompson had been sent to the
nearest hospital this morning. Seeing my worried face, he suggested that I go to the
hospital to visit Mrs Thompson. I hurried there and learned that she had to be in
hospital for some time. My heart sank, but I knew I had to be there for her.
Over the following days, I became a regular visitor at the hospital. I brought Mrs
Thompson her favorite books and magazines, and we spent hours talking and
laughing together. She treated me like family and even gave me the key to her house.
On the weekend, I asked my classmates to help with her household chores. Slowly,
her condition improved, and she was eventually discharged from the hospital.
Grateful for my support, she felt a renewed sense of hope and strength. Our friendship
further deepened, and I realized that helping others could bring joy and fulfillment to
my own life.
