In November 2024, Italy returned 56 cultural relics (文物) to China. These objects were illegally (非法地)
taken to Europe many years ago. Most of them were from Gansu, Qinghai, and Shanxi. The event showed China
and Italy are working well together to stop the illegal trade of cultural relics, China Daily noted.
The return of lost cultural relics is important in many ways. For the countries holding these objects,
returning them is the right thing to do. It helps bring back parts of history and shows respect to the countries
where the relics came from.
For the receiving country, getting back cultural relics helps boost national pride and unity (团结). It is good
for the economy (经济), too, because these objects can draw more tourists to visit museums and historical places.
There will also be more money spent on protecting the objects and improving museums, which will create more
jobs. Besides, returning relics can encourage scientific studies and help people learn more about history and
culture.
China is working hard to bring home lost cultural relics. According to Xinhua, up to 17 million relics have
been taken away since the Opium War in the 1840s. As of November 2024, China successfully brought back more
than 2,113 cultural relics over the past 12 years, said the National Cultural Heritage Administration. China has

The Chinese game Black Myth: Wukong officially became available on Tuesday. Within just a few hours of
its launch, it topped the best-selling list in 29 countries and regions on the game platform Steam, with more than
1.1 million online players at the same time. The game’s presentation of Chinese culture has not only impressed
Chinese players but also attracted a large number of foreign players. As a result, many international gamers are
now reading the original book Journey to the West as a “required course” before experiencing the game.
This success is not an isolated case. Since the 2010s, popular works like The Three-Body Problem, The
Wandering Earth, Genshin Impact, 30,000 Miles from Chang’an, and My Altay have all received great reviews
and helped bring Chinese culture to the global stage. These achievements show not only China’s creative
development of its cultural heritage but also a growing sense of pride and confidence in its cultural identity.
Black Myth: Wukong is a great example of how Chinese culture is represented. From every plant in the
game to every word spoken by the characters,Black Myth: Wukong shows different national cultural
characteristics. To faithfully reproduce the buildings in the original work of Journey to the West, the game’s
developers traveled across the country and set up China’s first virtual asset library of ancient buildings. A large
number of historical temples, cultural relics, and ancient books were restored, including the Dazu Rock Carvings
in Chongqing and the Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou. The wonders seen throughout the game make players around
the world surprised at Chinese culture.
‘‘When rendering (渲染), we didn’t even wipe away the dust to retain the beauty of Chinese oriental
architecture fully. We believe that the digital expression of Chinese culture can transcend national borders,’’ said
the game’s creators. This firm confidence in Chinese culture and the determination to protect its traditional

landscape.

The idea of “gap days” has appeared on social media platforms recently. Unlike a gap year, a gap day
means a really short period of relaxation and running away from everyday busy work. Apart from gap days, other
similar expressions have made a hit on the Internet, like “city walk”, “dazi (activity partner)” and so on.
Some people think that these kinds of new phrases are what people need. “For example, people used to use
‘taking a walk’, but now ‘city walk’ is the positive expression of it.” said Zhou Yaokai, “It’s the same with ‘gap
day’. Instead of ‘lying flat’, people are actively trying to balance their stress and life, which is a good way.”
Others disagree, however, and think that it’s simply just a kind of “sugaring up” (粉饰), meeting one’s need
for showing off. For example, “city walk” is the same as “taking a walk”. But people feel better by calling it a
“city walk”. Wu Ruilin is afraid that such new phrases may cover the risks behind it, such as safety problem. “For
example, some young people are questing (寻找) for ‘dazi’, which is normally enjoyed alone or with close friends,
like traveling and games. But most ‘dazi’ are just strangers, that may bring problems.” said Wu.
But no matter what we think of these phrases, they have already taken root in our daily lives. So we need to
keep a level head and not make them out to be bigger than they actually are.
64.What is a “gap day”
65.What problem does Wu Ruilin worry about when young people look for “dazi”
66.What do you think of these new phrases on the Internet Why

number of historical temples, cultural relics, and ancient books were restored, including the Dazu Rock Carvings
in Chongqing and the Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou.
This firm confidence in Chinese culture and the determination to protect its traditional
heritage are the strengths that enable Chinese artists and literary professionals to stand firm in the global cultural
landscape.

六、任务型阅读(共 3 小题,满分 7 分)
请认真阅读短文,用英语回答短文后的问题,并将答案写在答题卡标有题号的横线上。
【答案】64.It means a really short period of relaxation and running away from everyday busy work. 65.
Wu Ruilin worries about safety problem because most “dazi” are just strangers. 66.I think these new internet
phrases are generally positive developments. Because these phrases reflect people’s need for balance and
self-expression, but we should be cautious about potential risks.
【导语】本文主要讨论了近期社交媒体上流行的新词汇的积极意义和潜在问题,并呼吁理性看待这些现象。
64.根据“Unlike a gap year, a gap day means a really short period of relaxation and running away from everyday
busy work.”可知,“gap day”指的是短暂的放松和逃离日常繁忙工作的时光。故填 It means a really short period
of relaxation and running away from everyday busy work.
65.根据“But most ‘dazi’ are just strangers, that may bring problems.”可知,大多数“搭子”只是陌生人,可能
带来问题。由此可推知,吴睿琳担心的是陌生人带来的安全隐患。故填Wu Ruilin worries about safety problem
because most “dazi” are just strangers.
66.开放性试题,答案不唯一,言之有理即可。参考答案为:I think these new internet phrases are generally

【答案】例文
The Harder, The Better
Life is like a journey full of unexpected challenges. In my second year of junior high, I faced a huge
difficulty in math. No matter how hard I tried, my grades kept falling. I felt frustrated and even wanted to give up.
However, I decided to fight back. I made a detailed study plan, practiced problems every day, and asked my
teacher for help whenever I had doubts. Slowly, my understanding improved. Finally, in the final exam, I
achieved my best score ever!
This experience taught me that difficulties are like stepping stones—the harder they are, the stronger we
become. Now I truly believe: the harder, the better!
