Helping each other makes the world wonderful
Hello, everyone. I’m Simon. It’s nice to speak about help here. In our life we often help
others and also get help from others. When we help our classmates with their study and other
things, We can develop our friendship. If we give a hand to old people, we can understand the
meaning of happiness. As we know, there are many patients in our life. I think we can get much
pleasure when we help them around us. As the saying goes, “Giving is much better than receiving.”

Chopsticks have been used in Asia for over 3,000 years. The earliest chopsticks
were discovered in Henan China about 1200 BCE. Over the next 2,000 years, they
spread throughout East and Southeast Asia.
The three most well-known types are Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. Chinese
chopsticks are longer with wide, rounded points at the end, mostly made of plastic or
bamboo. While Japanese chopsticks are shorter and more pointed. Korean ones are
flat rather than round and made of metal rather than wood. It’s said that ancient
Royalty (皇室) used silver chopsticks to see if their food was poisoned (有毒的). In Southeast Asia,
Vietnamese chopsticks are similar to Chinese ones.
Chopsticks are not just eating tools. A proper chopstick grip (握法) can greatly improve dining experience.
First, place the top part of two sticks between your thumb and index finger. Hold the upper chopstick gently
with your first three fingers while resting the lower one at your ring finger. Meanwhile, put your thumb at the
side of your index-finger nail. The upper stick is moved up and down with the movements of the index finger
and middle finger. This way, pieces of food can be easily grasped between the tips of the chopsticks.
___30___ The first rule is to grab and not stab (刺入) food with the tip of your chopsticks. Second, don’t
set chopsticks vertically (垂直的) into the rice in your bowl. In some cultures, such positioning of chopsticks is
considered as a symbol associated with death. Third, watch where you point your chopsticks. It’s rude to point
them directly at others.
Following the guidelines above, you not only show respect for the cultural traditions about chopsticks, but
also enrich your overall dining experience.

Chalk is something you probably see and even use every day. But have you ever thought about the
possibility of turning it into carved (雕刻) artwork using just a compass (圆规)
Shen sihao, 31, started doing this in high school. Growing up in Luoyang, a city in Henan province known
for its cultural relics (遗迹) and historical sites, Shen often used his compass to carve chalk into miniature
versions of cultural relics and ancient buildings he read about in history books or saw around Luoyang. One of
5
his most impressive creations was a replica (仿造品) of a tower in Luoyang that looks like it has five floors
from the outside but actually has nine floors inside. “It’s a shame that I didn’t have much time back then to do
more,” Shen said.
After getting a job at an internet company in Beijing, Shen found himself with more free time and so
decided to realize his childhood dream. Since 2024, he has been sharing videos online to present his chalk
carvings, including tomb figures (俑), arrows, and more. His account (网络账号), Trifle in Break Time, has
gained a large following, especially among students.
For Shen, the process of carving is just as wonderful as the final product. “Only by carving can I fully
understand the structure, details and secrets of cultural relics,” Shen said. For example, while carving an
ancient warrior (战士), he closely studied a photo and realized that it looked a lot like Ultraman. “Maybe the
design of Ultraman was inspired by an ancient Chinese warrior!” he said.
To make his carvings exact and lifelike, Shen visits museums, studies detailed drawings of relics and
practices ancient Chinese calligraphy. Besides, Shen shapes his cultural relic carvings by adding elements (元
素) from video games and movies, attracting his followers with these exciting changes. For example, he carved
the golden cudgel (金 箍 棒 ) when the video game BlackMyth: Wukong became popular and made Shiji
Niangniang, a character from Ne Zha 2, when the movie became a hit. “I often carelessly break my work
when it’s almost done,” Shen said. To Shen, carving chalk not only helps him learn more about history and
culture but has also taught him patience.
It’s the same with life — when you rush or try too hard, it’s easy to break things. Patience and
perseverance (毅力) are the key.
