Abbey was a new student in our class. She had just moved from a small mountain village. Our teacher asked me, “Could you help Abbey feel comfortable here ” I nodded, but it wasn’t easy. Abbey was very shy and never spoke much. She always sat quietly, reading a book.
One afternoon, school ended, and as I walked outside, dark clouds gathered quickly. Suddenly, heavy rain poured down. I realized I hadn’t brought an umbrella. I saw Abbey standing under a big tree, also without one.
“Looks like we’re stuck here,” I said, trying to smile. Abbey nodded, still quiet.
We both stood silently for a moment, listening to the rain. “It rains so much in the city,” I said, breaking the silence. Abbey looked up and hesitated before speaking. “It’s different from the mountains. There, it snows more.”
“Really I’ve always wanted to live where it snows!” I replied, excited.
Her face lit up. “I used to ski every winter. Do you like skiing ” she asked.
“I love it!” I said. “But I’m not great at it.”
She smiled. “I could teach you someday.”
We talked more. Abbey told me about her village, the snowy hills, and how much she loved reading adventure books. “I like reading too,” I shared. “What’s your favorite book ”
By the time the rain stopped, we were laughing and chatting like old friends.
In the days after, Abbey started smiling more in class. She even joined us at lunch. One day, she said to me, “The city isn’t so bad after all. Thanks for that rainy day.”
I realized then: everyone needs time and encouragement to adjust to (适应) something new. Abbey just needed a little patience— and a rainy day made all the difference.

Early on Wednesday morning, a big rocket called Long March -2F Y19 took off from Jiuquan in Northwest China. It carried three astronauts on a trip to the China Space Station.
After about 10 minutes, the Shenzhou -19 spacecraft separated from the rocket and entered its designated orbit (轨道). This meant the launch was a success!
The China Space Station will welcome the new Shenzhou -19 crew, led by experienced astronaut Cai Xuze and newcomers Song Lingdong and female astronaut Wang Haoze, about 6.5 hours after takeoff.
Commander (指令长) Cai is going back to space just 22 months after his last trip, which is a record for the shortest time between missions in the history of Chinese astronauts. Song and Wang, both born in 1990, are on their first space mission. Wang is also China’s first female spaceflight engineer.
This is the fourth time that astronauts have flown to the space station to work and do experiments, and it’s the 33rd mission in China’s manned space program. The main tasks include switching crews with the Shenzhou -18 astronauts, staying on the station for six months, doing space experiments, going outside the spacecraft and managing cargo (货物) and so on.
After launch, Shenzhou -19 will connect to the Tianhe module of the space station about 6.5 hours later. During their stay, they will get supplies from the Tianzhou -8 cargo spacecraft and be visited by the Shenzhou -20 crew. They will come back to Earth in late April or early May.

三、任务型阅读
阅读下面短文,回答下列小题。
A designer is a person who has ideas. But that’s not all. A designer plans how to make those ideas happen. A set of steps should be followed.
Step One is defining (界定) a problem or need. A theater puts on a show. Actors wearing costumes act on a lighted stage. Set designers design the stage sets. Lighting designers decide what lights to use. Costume designers choose clothes for the actors to wear. Together they form the design team. They share the same need, which is making the show happen.
Step Two is defining a successful result. The desired result is different for different kinds of designers. A fashion designer designs clothing styles. Because stores need people to keep buying, fashion designers need to design clothes that people will buy. The clothes should be different from older clothes.
Step Three is to describe the situation as it is now. A landscape designer plans outdoor areas. The designer looks carefully at the piece of land. Is it flat or hilly What kind of soil does it have What plants grow well in that soil How do people want to use this land The designer uses all the information in planning.
Step Four is to understand the user. The designer needs to know who will use the product. Software designers write computer programs. They think about the user sitting in front of the screen.
Step Five is to make a detailed plan. Architects design buildings. They plan the size and shape of each room, and decide what materials to use. All the details are on a drawing called a blueprint. The builders will follow this blueprint. The building will be exactly like the plan.
Last but not least, designers should work with other people to turn the design into the real thing. Fashion designers need people to sew the clothes. Landscape designers need workers to plant the plants.
Designers are artists, scientists, and inventors. They work in the present, but they are planners for the future.

【详解】根据中英文对照可知,缺少“举行”的英文表达;hold动词,举行;主语是China International Big Data Industry Expo 2025“博览会”,因此用被动语态be+done;根据will可知,此处是一般将来时的被动语态“will be + 过去分词”,因此be动词用原形,hold的过去分词held。故填be;held。
48. the highest
【详解】根据中英文对照可知,此处缺少“最高的”的表达,用最高级结构“the+形容词最高级”表示。high高的,最高级形式为highest。故填the;highest。

50. How wonderful

51.例文
I’m glad to share my experience of traditional Chinese culture. Last weekend, I joined a paper-cutting class at school. First, the teacher showed us lovely paper-cutting works with animals and flowers. Then, we got paper and scissors. The teacher taught us basic cutting steps. Making the work myself was hard, but I kept trying and finally made a simple flower design.
This experience is good for me. I love Chinese traditional culture more. I have also learned to be more patient and careful. Each cut in paper-cutting matters. I hope to let more people know how beautiful paper-cutting is.
