China has many delicious foods. These foods are different in the north and south. But baozi is one of the most common foods in most parts of China.
Baozi is usually filled with vegetables or meat and has a soft flour shell (面皮).
They come in different sizes. The cutest is xiaolongbao, which is small enough to be eaten in one bite. People make baozi with many kinds of fillings (馅料). Meat and vegetables are common.
In the south, many people like sweet fillings like sugar.
Some baozi even has soup inside, such as steamed juicy buns (灌汤包). People use a straw (吸管) to drink the soup before eating the bun. To make steamed juicy buns, people put a jelly (冻) made of gravy (肉汤) inside it first. The jelly melts (融化) when steamed. This gives the bun a juicy taste.

The Yangtze River is the longest river in China. It is the home to over 400 species (物种) like the Chinese sturgeon (中华鲟). The Chinese sturgeon is one of the largest fish in the world and it’s long. A Chinese sturgeon can grow up to about 5m long, over 500kg and live to be 40 years old. They’ve lived on the earth for about 140,000,000 years, so people call them a “living fossil (化石)”.
The Chinese sturgeon was common in the river before. However, it’s in danger now. Fishing too much in the 1970s made the species fewer and fewer. And in 1981, the building of the Gezhouba Dam put the sturgeon into two groups. The two groups could not get together. As a result, the species became even fewer. So the help for the Chinese sturgeon is very necessary.
Luckily, China already took action. On May 14th. Shanghai passed a new rule to help the Chinese sturgeon. This was the first rule in the country to help one fish in danger. From January 2020, the country also started to stop people from fishing in the Yangtze River. It will last (持续) for ten years. We believe the Chinese sturgeon will become more and more. We should also play a part in saving the species in danger.

How can a diplomat (外交官) win over people from all around the world For the black-and-white animal, known as world’s famous “diplomat”, the answer is easy-simply be cute.
