At the age of 10 Chase Hansen noticed a homeless man at an outdoor mall in Salt Lake City
Park with his father, John. Chase asked who the man was and why he didn’t have a place to stay.
His father explained that the man had run into hard times and was homeless.
Chase used to spend his weekends playing video games and football. However, after he saw
many homeless people, he wanted to help them. His father supported his idea to help. They bought

Notre-Dame de Paris (巴 黎 圣 母 院 ) is an 860-year-old church in Paris, France. It has
played an important part in France’s history for hundreds of years. The church is famous around
the world as it is beautiful and has lots of art works. The church sits in the heart of Paris and, up
until 2019, it was visited by around 13 million tourists each year.
In April 2019, a fire broke out at Notre-Dame de Paris. It is believed that the fire started by
accident. It was difficult to control the fire and 600 firefighters worked for hours. But by the time
the fire was out, many parts of the church were broken.
What happened to Notre-Dame de Paris upset people around the world. French President
Emmanuel Macron promised to rebuild the church in five years. However, many people thought
the plan was impossible as the work was huge. But with money from people around the world, the
work began. 2000 skilled workers joined the rebuilding.
In December 2024, the church was reopened. The leader of the Catholic (天主教) church in
Paris opened the door with a special stick. The newly repaired church excited everyone. During
the ceremony (仪式), the president Mr. Macron said that “the great country” can “complete the
impossible”. He hoped to use the reopening to help people remember that France is powerful and
brave. The great opening of Notre-Dame de Paris is a symbol of how France comes back after a
difficult time. It also has meaning to everyone in the world and we need to try our best to protect
