Artificial Intelligence (AI) assistants are becoming more common in our daily lives. These assistants, like
voice helpers on phones or smart speakers, are powered by AI to understand and respond to human commands.
They can help with many tasks, from setting alarms and playing music to answering questions and
controlling smart home devices. With improvements in natural language processing, AI assistants are getting
better at understanding complex requests and having more natural conversations.
AI assistants are not just for individuals. Businesses are using them for customer service, providing quick
answers to common questions and handling basic tasks. This frees up human employees to deal with more
complicated issues. Some advanced AI assistants can even help with scheduling meetings, writing emails, and
analyzing data.
However, there are also concerns about privacy and data security with AI assistants. Since they rely on
collecting and processing user data, ensuring this information is protected is crucial. As the technology develops,
it is important to find a balance between the convenience AI assistants offer and the need to protect user privacy.
Despite the challenges, the development of AI assistants continues rapidly. As they become more
sophisticated and integrated into more devices and services, they are set to change the way we interact with
technology and manage our daily lives, making them more efficient and connected.

On April 19, 2025, Yizhuang in Beijing held the world’s first humanoid (人形的) robot half-marathon.
46 They came from different cities like Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangdong. The humanoid robots ran on a
21.1-kilometer race along with human runners. This showed that robots can do real-life tasks, such as
long-distance running.
The winner was Tiangong Ultra from the Beijing Humanoid Robot Center. 47 And its top speed
was 12 km/h. This 1.8-meter-tall robot used light materials and cooling systems to stop it from getting too hot.
Other teams, like Robot Whirlwind Kid and Robot Little Giant (a 75-centimeter-tall robot), had cool features too.
Whirlwind Kid had shoes that could absorb shock (减震), and Little Giant used AI to keep balance on slopes (斜
坡).
48 It had 14 sharp turns and slopes along the way. It also had different surfaces, like grass and
gravel (石子路). Teams could change the robots’ batteries (电池) at seven battery stations. If a team replaced the
whole robot, they lost 10 minutes. Some robots wore special shoes to protect their joints (关节), and others used
sensors (传感器) to avoid falling.
This event wasn’t just about competition. 49 For example, Tsinghua University’s Kuafu robot
learned to move well with not much training data. This could be useful for disaster rescue (救援). Organizers said
it was a big step forward. They thought robots could help doctors in hospitals or move things in factories in the
future.
50 These companies plan to use these technologies a lot in healthcare and other areas of daily life.
An engineer said, “This marathon shows that robots and humans can work together for a smarter future.”
