Yuanmingyuan was once a beautiful royal (皇家的) garden, which is full of valuable artifacts (文物).
Among its artifacts were the Twelve Zodiac Animal Heads—part of a water clock system. These amazing
treasures were symbols of great skill. However, due to historical events, they were lost abroad. As China grew
stronger, these priceless artifacts were gradually brought home.
In April, 2000, people in Hong Kong were angry when the auction house Christie’s (佳士得拍卖行)
planned to sell two of the Zodiac heads. They strongly called for the return of the national treasures. The Chinese
government tried to stop the auction, but Christie’s still went ahead with it.
Although the first try to stop the auction failed, Poly Group, a major Chinese State-owned company,
stepped in. On April 30, 2000, Poly bought the Monkey and Ox heads for 8.185 million and 7.745 million Hong
Kong dollars respectively (分别). One of Poly’s workers said, “These treasures belong to all Chinese people.
They will return to Beijing!”
The efforts continued. On May 2, 2000, Poly bought the Tiger Head in another auction for 15.44 million
Hong Kong dollars.
Over time, more Zodiac heads have been brought back to China. In 2003, businessman Stanley Ho donated
the Pig Head to the Poly Art Museum. In 2007, Ho also bought the Horse Head for 69.1 million Hong Kong
dollars and donated it to the Chinese government. In 2013, the French Pinault family returned the Rat and Rabbit
heads, which were placed in the National Museum.

①Have you heard of mourning (悼念) technology
②Last night is really unusual for me. I couldn’t imagine I could speak to my parents. And for a moment I
even forgot I wasn’t really speaking to real them, just their virtual images (虚拟形象). In fact, both of my parents
are still alive and well. But the virtual images could help me understand the technology, which is an APP created
by a company called Here After Al.
③Mourning technology can let you communicate with the people you have loved but lost. This used to
appear in science fiction. But now it has come into our real life. Maybe it sounds some scary, but it’s not difficult
to see that more and more people might turn to the virtual images for comfort.
④However, there is still something imperfect. These virtual images are just facades (表象), but in fact they
don’t know anything about you. Anyone who talks to them can get almost the same answer. The biggest problem
with the technology is that you can’t create a person who is only right for you.
⑤A virtual image that can hold more conversations with you helps make you feel connected to the person
you loved but lost. But a sad person needs to know that only a small part of a person can be captured (捕捉) by
these images instead of replacing healthy, normal human relationships.
⑥At the same time this also brings other risks when creating a virtual image, such as moral (道 德 )
problems. Some may think that it’s less important to a person who is already dead. But what if the person isn’t
actually dead Should he or she have a say, too
⑦If virtual images really come fully into our lives, there’s no doubt that we need new rules about what we
leave online. But if we deal with the possibility of misusing virtual images before, rather than after, they are
widely used, our lives will be better.
⑧Luckily, I still have the valuable chance to spend more time with my father and mother, face to face,
without technology.
56.What does the write think of mourning technology
A.He thinks it has become a perfect technology.
B.He doesn’t think it should be used in our life.
C.He thinks it can meet the needs of some people.
D.He can use it to communicate with his parents better.
57.According to the last two paragraphs, what does the writer get from his experience

B.Mourning technology won’t be used widely.
C.We can keep mourning technology safe by making new rules.

58.Which of the following is not mentioned in this passage

My parents have always said they felt uncomfortable traveling by train when they were my age. When they
talk about the crowded and airless rain carriages (车厢), I just always can’t imagine how it feels to travel by train
like that.
However, train travel is quite a different experience today and the train service has improved greatly,
especially when the high-speed rail (HSR) service has been widely out into use in China. HSR refers to (指) any
railway in China with a speed of 250 km/h or higher. The high-speed rail has experienced rapid development
since our country started to run its first high-speed train between Beijing and Tianjin in 2008. The environment in
the high-speed trains is the same as that in an airplane. Now the high-speed rail in China is really fast, convenient
and comfortable.
Recently, Chinese people have become known for their speed of developing and making changes. Such a
high speed is known as China Speed. The development of the high-speed rail has let me realize what China Speed
is. However, China Speed means a lot more. We’ve seen so many tall buildings show up almost overnight. It took
us only several tens of years to go from the difficulty of traveling to roads and highways connecting every comer.
Mobile phones with 5G technology show more and more importance in everyone’s life. China Speed has made a
difference to our country and even the world.
But as we enjoy China Speed, we should also be serious about the problems it has brought to us, such as
environmental pollution and the imbalance of development. It is our responsibility to bring China a better future.
Good morning, everyone! I read a passage about China Speed. The writer tells us about some information
of HSR. With the rapid development of high technology, taking the high-speed rail is the best way to travel
nowadays. The train used to be uncomfortable crowded and airless. But now 74 the Chinese people
with a fast, convenient and comfortable travel experience. That’s because the high-speed rail service has been
widely used. The high-speed rail has developed so fast. The speed of developing 75 China Speed.
It also makes a difference in many other fields. Many tall buildings show up overnight. 76 every
comer. 5G technology plays an important part in people’s life. But China speed has also brought some problems.

A.Value the ones we love when they are still alive.
B.Mourning technology won’t be used widely.
C.We can keep mourning technology safe by making new rules.
D.The progress of technology is faster than imagined.
58.Which of the following is not mentioned in this passage
A.More and more people show interest in the technology.
B.Mourning technology can’t reflect everything about a person.
C.The living may not allow us to use mourning technology on them.
D.Mourning technology may be harmful to the interests of the living.

【答案】例文
My favorite traditional festival
Out of all the important festivals, the Dragon Boat Festival stands out as my favorite. It falls on the fifth
day of the fifth lunar month in memory of the poet—Qu Yuan.
As a traditional festival rich in cultural significance, it has a history of about 2,000 years. People celebrate
it in various ways such as participating in or watching dragon boat races and eating the traditional food—zongzi.
From my point of view, we teenagers should make an effort to promote this festival. To begin with, we plan
to make a poster about the festival’ s development, and put it up in our library. Furthermore, we will make a video
with both Chinese and English introductions. I believe we should take pride in traditional Chinese culture and try
to pass on its values to the world.
