On a cold sunny day, I sat in my car and watched dolphins swim in the sea. All of a sudden, I saw some dolphins were beached (搁浅). It was very dangerous 1 them to be out of water.
Without thinking, I jumped out of my car and ran to the beach. I first called the police 2 they were far away. It was 3 life-or-death moment for the dolphins. Though I tried to help, I noticed that they were much 4 than I thought. I didn’t know 5 I could do, so I put a message on the Internet. I hoped someone 6 see it and come to save those lovely animals.
Later, three teenage boys nearby came first. It was like light that drove the darkness away. Then more and more people 7 . We decided to save the smaller dolphins first and worked together to move them back to the deeper water 8 .
To my surprise, after the smaller dolphins 9 , none of them left. They stayed and made strange sounds to encourage 10 dolphins. After we finished the rescue work, all the dolphins raised their heads from water and swam around 11 their thanks to us. Then, they swam back to the deep sea.
It made my heart warm. The dolphins had a great sense of helping each other 12 there was trouble. I realized that our volunteer group was just like the dolphins. On such a cold day, nobody cared about 13 wet or dirty. We tried to save the dolphins and communicated again and again to make sure everyone was safe.

The global success of China’s game “Black Myth: Wukong” has introduced the tale of Sun Wukong to people worldwide. But for Ghaffar Pourazar, a British-American living in California, this legendary character has been a part of his identity (身份). He has spent the past thirty years mastering Peking Opera, becoming an excellent foreign performer in this traditional Chinese art, and getting the nickname “Western Monkey King”.
His lifelong love for Peking Opera began by chance. In 1993, 32-year-old Pourazar attended a performance at London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall and was immediately attracted. “I was crying,” he recalled. “I had a deep love for different art forms before, including acting, dancing, and movement. But at that moment, everything else faded away. I saw all these arts in Peking Opera.” With the help of the head of the Chinese troupe (剧团), Pourazar entered an opera school in Beijing. Just three months later, he left his life in Britain behind and moved to Beijing to train in the martial roles (武角) of the art.
Starting as an adult was not easy. “My classmates were all children,” he said. “As an adult without any basic skills, it is very hard for you to practice the movements.” Besides the physical demands, mastering the Chinese language was another challenge. “I was reciting the words and songs, whether I was eating, bathing, walking, or even dreaming,” Pourazar added. “Though it was painful, I enjoyed every moment,” he said.
Over the years, he has been introducing Peking Opera and Sun Wukong to international people, taking Chinese performers to perform in different countries. He has also been teaching courses in the US and bringing Peking Opera to Western learners. To better connect with Western learners, he has translated some classic plays such as “The Monkey King: Uproar in Heaven” into English versions.
“I want to be a bridge between cultures,” he said, reflecting on his multicultural background.
29.What made Pourazar fall in love with Peking Opera
A.His childhood love for different art forms.
B.The great help from opera performers.
C.A great performance at a London theatre.
D.His learning at an opera school in Beijing.
30.What does the underlined phrase “faded away” in Para 2 mean
A.disappeared gradually B.beat heavily
C.happened suddenly D.spread slowly

C.His basic skills. D.His language ability.
32.Which part of the newspaper may the passage be taken from

Sometimes, when we’re not quite awake but not fully asleep either, our brains might be really good at coming up with new ideas. A study found that people who have a light sleep would be better at solving problems later.
Researchers read stories about some scientists solving difficult problems after a light and short sleep. It is said that the famous inventor Thomas Edison used to look for the twilight (朦胧的) moments between wakefulness and sleep. He used to sit in a chair and hold two balls. As he started to fall asleep, the balls fell down and made a noise that woke him up. This way, he could write down his ideas before he fell into a deep sleep and forgot them.
To see if Edison’s idea could work for other people, researchers asked 103 healthy people to come to their lab. They had to try to solve a difficult Maths problem. After that, they got a 20-minute break in a quiet and dark room. They sat in chairs and held a light bottle in one hand, just like the way Edison did. The researchers told them to close their eyes and rest or even sleep if they wanted to. After the break, they went back to the Maths problem.
While they were resting, the researchers checked their brainwaves. They found that more than half of the people didn’t fall asleep. But 24 people did fall asleep and had a light sleep called N1. Another 14 people went into a deeper sleep called N2.
The researchers saw a great difference between the groups. The people who had a light sleep, the N1 stage, were about 2.7 times more likely to solve it than people who stayed awake. And they were about 5.9 times more likely to solve it than those who went into the deeper N2 sleep.
However, more work is needed to find out the relation between N1 and creativity. The results are interesting because they suggest that maybe we can learn how to get into this light sleep stage on purpose.
It seems that Edison knew something about how being a bit sleepy can help us be more creative. But don’t think that you should copy his habits completely. He also thought that sleeping was a waste of time.
33.Why does the writer mention Thomas Edison in Paragraph 2
A.To tell the importance of sleep.
B.To explain why Edison slept well.
C.To introduce Edison’s inventions.
D.To show how researchers got their idea.
34.Paragraph 3 is mainly about ________.
A.why the study was designed B.how the study was carried out
C.what result the study showed D.what the future study may focus on
35.What can we learn from the passage
A.Holding a ball while sleeping helps people come up with new ideas.
B.People can learn some skills after reaching the twilight stage of sleep.
C.A light sleep may make people creative and be better problem solvers.
D.Staying awake for a long time will make people forget things easily.
36.What is the writer’s main purpose in writing this passage
A.To encourage people to sleep less in the daytime.
B.To discuss the importance of a deep sleep.
C.To compare different kinds of sleep.
D.To prove the value of a light sleep.

From social relationships to work challenges, Chinese people are turning to DeepSeek to deal with different personal matters. They describe sharing their thoughts and receiving helpful responses (回应) from the popular chatbot. As a rising trend on social media, AI therapy (疗法) is changing the way people look for mental health support. But can AI really replace a human therapist (治疗学家)
Around the world, 45 percent of people who needed mental health care in 2024 did not receive it, with problems including cost and being short of providers, according to Huntington Psychological (心理) Services. Daniel Lowd, a professor at the University of Oregon, believes AI could help solve the absence of therapy services. “If people can find some support and thoughts by talking to Chatbots, then I think that’s wonderful,” Lowd told Newsweek.
Li Yong, a doctor at the Jiangsu Province Hospital, agreed with Lowd, saying that AI meets people’s needs for emotional support. By using basic knowledge of psychotherapy, DeepSeek can help with some mental problems through comforting responses. However, he points out that AI cannot completely replace experts because the human touch is important for therapeutic services. Therapists develop a deeper understanding of people’s emotions and needs through communication, which allows them to offer more helpful treatment plans.
The use of AI in psychotherapy also has made people question if its answers can be trusted. “AI chatbots will respond as therapists if asked, without any of the management, training or responsibility of a human counselor (顾问),” Richard Lachman, a professor told Newsweek.
Experts believe the key to AI therapy lies in proper government management. Wysa, for example, is a mental health app that offers therapeutic conversations with an AI chatbot. In 2022, it worked with the UK’s National Health Service, following a list of strict standards. As AI becomes more a part of our lives, understanding its influence on human psychology means finding a balance between what’s helpful and what’s dangerous, Euronews reported.
37.How does the writer develop the first paragraph
A.By giving an example. B.By telling a story.
C.By comparing two facts. D.By imagining a scene.
38.How can AI help in mental health care according to Daniel Lowd
A.By offering more medical costs.
B.By solving the absence of therapy services.
C.By training professional teachers.
D.By replacing all human therapists.
39.Why does Li Yong believe AI cannot fully replace human therapists
A.Because AI chatbots are short of basic knowledge of psychotherapy.
B.Because AI chatbots cannot provide comforting responses.
C.Because Human therapists better understand emotions and needs.
D.Because Human therapispts can follow strict government rules well.
40.What is the main idea of the last paragraph
A.The importance of the management for AI therapy.
B.The influence of AI chatbots in human psychology.
C.The introduction to a popular mental health app.
D.The differences between AI and human therapists.

参考范文:
Dear Chris,
I’m glad to hear from you. Knowing you are interested in the program broadcasting in CCTV 1, I would like to simply introduce it now.
Enjoy the Beautiful Chinese Scenery, which claims to encourage people to know more about traditional China has been successfully held on CCTV and has attracted lots of people who are interested in China. The program introduces the beautiful scenery, geographical culture and customs all over the country. In your letter, you mentioned that you were eager to know more about Chinese culture. I think the best way is to read some relevant books and to use media resources. I’d like to recommend a book called Read Poetry and Learn History which is suitable for the foreigners to know more about Chinese geography, history and culture. The poems of the books can give readers vivid pictures of the life of the ancient Chinese and they can also improve your appreciation of Chinese.
I think the book is a good choice for you. I believe you can improve your understanding about language and culture easily and efficiently. In addition, I suggested that you should visit some places of China to feel the Chinese culture personally. As the ancient Chinese saying goes, man who travels far knows more.
I’m looking forward to your coming.
Yours,
Li Hua
