Passage15
(23-24八年级下·河南周口·期末)The other day I was sitting in my car in a supermarket parking lot. From time to time, I would look up and watch what people were doing.
I saw a fancy (高档的) car pull up next to my car. Out of it stepped a well-dressed young woman. She was frowning. She wore dark sunglasses. I watched her as she was walking into the supermarket.
Later, a dirty old car pulled up. A young Mom got off the car with her little girls. All of them wore old clothes. She got her kids together, carrying the youngest while the oldest held the other girl’s hands. They walked toward the supermarket, talking with each other happily.
Some time after that, I saw the fancy car lady coming out, pushing a car with some beautiful boxes and a new TV set. She was still frowning. It seemed that those goods couldn’t make her happy. After fifteen minutes, the mother came out with her girls. The mom took two cookies out of a small box, broke each cookie in half, and then she gave each girl half a cookie. They smiled as if it was the best gift in the world.

(23-24八年级下·上海长宁·期末)Choose the best answer (根据短文内容,选择最恰当的答案)
All through grade school, I got extra help with school work. If I got a D, I was very happy. If I got a C-minus (C-), I had achieved greatness. A’s and B’s were a kingdom I could never enter.
Once my teacher Miss Mills had given me a list of ten spelling words. My mother and I went over the list until I knew those words. I felt great. I thought. “Wow! This time, I’m going to pass.” The next day, I went into the classroom and began to write down the words. The first word was “carpet”. I wrote that one down c-a-r-p-e-t. I was feeling pretty confident. Then came the word “neighbor”—I wrote down the letter “n”. Then rhythm—I knew there was an “r”. Suburban——I wrote “s-u-b”. My confidence failed me. I had gone from 100 percent to maybe a D-minus. Where did the words go

Passage21
(23-24八年级下·福建泉州·期末)Last year, a primary school in Jiangxi made a decision. It would no longer prepare meals in its own kitchen. Instead, it would serve its students pre-made food (预制菜). The move quickly became hot topic across the country. Many parents said that they were worried about food safety. Some of them even sent homemade meals to school at lunchtime every day.
The Ministry of Education (教育部) warns (警告) against introducing pre-made meals to schools. That’s mainly because there are not yet any national standards for such food.
