Then
I
started
to 42 a
book
and
my
relatives
started
to
wonder
when
I
was
going
to

a 43 job.
Gradually
I

that
I

being
told
that
my

Then
I

this
quote.

During
this
time

I
continued
to
find
that

that
would
make
my
relatives
happy,
and
the
day
job
that
would
keep
me
around
my 49 .
The
more
I
tried,
the
more 50 I
found.
At
some
point
I
told
myself,
I
can’t
wait
for
some
employer
to
find
my 51 and
I
can’t
leave

and
I
don’t
think
that
I
would
want
some
jobs
that
others
were 53 me
to
find.
Opportunity
was
not
knocking
at
my
door,
so
I
went
and
built
several
doors.
So
I 54 my
way
of
thinking.
I
thought
that
there
is
a
way
to
have

A
“Angie,
I
know
you
( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )like
to
sing,”
her
father,
a
worker,
told
Angela
Brown,
“but
you
must
have
something
to
fall
back
on
(依靠).”
Brown
took
her
father’s
advice.
She
got
a
degree
in
secretarial
science
before
entering
Oakwood
College,
in
Huntsville,
Alabama.
However,
her
aim
was
to
become
a
singer
at
religious
meetings.
So
after
graduation
she
headed
for
Indiana
University
to
study
with
the
famous
soprano
(女高音歌手)
Virginia
Zeani.
Once,
when
Bro
( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )wn
was
troubled
by
self-doubt,
Zeani
said
to
her,
“If
you
want
to
be
the
next
Aretha
Franklin,
you
need
no
more
lessons,”
Brown
remembers
her
saying.
“But
if
you
want
to
be
the
best
Verdian
soprano
this
world
has
ever
seen,
you
must
work.”
Work
she
did.
( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )
Three
times
she
competed
in
the
Metropolitan
Opera
National
Council
Auditions
(试演).
Three
times
she
failed
to
make
the
final
round
in
New
York.
Then,
in
1997
at
age
33,
the
age
limit
for
sopranos
to
audition,
she
gave
it
one
more
try.
She
signed
up
at
the
last
minute
and
didn’t
even
practice,
thinking,
“All
they
could
do
was
to
tell
me
no,
and
that
didn’t
hurt
my
feelings
anymore.”
She
had
the
strength
she
needed
to
fall
back
on
if
she
failed.
She
won.
But
making
i
( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )t
in
New
York
was
just
the
beginning.
It
took
her
three
more
years
to
become
an
understudy
(替角)
at
the
Met.
But
waiting
in
the
wings
was
fine
with
her.
Finally,
her
time
came.
When
the
featured
singer
fell
ill,
Brown
earned
the
chance
to
sing
the
lead
role
in
Aida.
And
The
New
York
Times
described
her
performance
as
a
great
success.
Angela
Brown,
who
had
prepared
for
20
years,
was
an
“overnight”
successful
singer
at
age
40.

Celebrating
Sleep
World
Sleep
Day,
ob
( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )served
on
21
March,
was
created
to
bring
attention
to
the
growing
number
of
sleep
problems
worldwide.
Sleep
is
a
natural
part
of
human
life,
but
many
people
in
the
modern
world
ignore
its
importance.
As
a
result,
sleep
problems
are
increasingly
common.
In
2002,
scientists
at
the
University
of
Athens
in
Greece
conducted
a
survey
of
over
35,000
people
in
10
countries
around
the
world,
including
China,
Belgium
and
South
Africa.
Of
the
people
that
responded
to
the
survey,
24
percent
said
that
they
did
not
sleep
well,
and
based
on
their
responses,
31.6
percent
were
diagnosed
with
insomnia(失眠)
and
another
17.5
percent
were
diagnosed
with
borderline(边界线)
insomnia.
In
addition,
30.7
percent
of
survey
respondents
reported
visiting
a
doctor
for
help
with
sleep
problems
and
11.6
percent
said
that
they
felt
very
sleepy
during
the
day.
Overall,
the
survey
( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )found
that
many
people
suffer
the
effects
of
poor
quality
sleep,
some
examples
of
which
are
being
unable
to
fall
asleep
and
waking
up
in
the
middle
of
the
night.
The
main
factors
causing
these
problems
are
pressure
from
school
or
work
and
a
fast
pace
of
life,
but
noise
pollution
and
light
pollution
also
interfere
with
sleep
and
contribute
to
poor
quality
sleep.
The
survey’s
findings
are
particularly
troubling
because
large
numbers
of
people
were
found
to
have
difficulty
sleeping
at
night.
The
short-term
effects
of
this
are
tiredness
and
trouble
concentrating.
If
this
happens
for
a
long
time,
the
risk
of
gaining
weight
and
having
a
heart
attack
may
increase.
There
are
many
thin
( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )gs
you
can
do
to
improve
the
quality
of
your
sleep.
First,
you
should
have
regular
sleep
habits.
Try
to
go
to
bed
and
wake
up
around
the
same
time
each
day.
You
also
need
to
make
your
bedroom
a
cool,
dark,
quiet
place
to
sleep
so
that
heat,
light
and
noise
do
not
disturb
you.
At
night,
you
should
also
avoid
things
that
contain
caffeine,
such
as
chocolate,
coffee,
tea
and
many
soft
drinks,
as
caffeine
may
keep
you
from
sleeping.
Getting
a
good
night’s
( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )
sleep
is
important
for
everyone.
By
following
the
advice
above,
you
can
rest
better
at
night
and
work
better
during
the
day.
