Artificial intelligence (AI, 人工智能) is programmed to be correct and helpful. Jennifer Smith recently completed her research aimed at finding out the use of AI in dance. She has spent more than a year collecting human dance examples and feeding them into the computer. In the recording room, around 30 dancers performed to music before the AI received hundreds of quick photos from their performances. In this way, the AI could learn to dance. Jennifer finally had something that looked like a human dance.
However, Jennifer found that the AI-based movements that created excitement were unbelievable—an arm that reached out to three meters long or was bent (弯曲) into a small ball. Arms and legs bent into impossible positions also got attention. “The dancers started asking themselves how they could do such movements with their bodies. They didn’t necessarily want a perfect copy of a human dancer. They wanted to be surprised: to see something that isn’t human,” Jennifer said.
The practice is not completely new. In 1975, a group of artists published a type of new ideas. They used a set of cards, each offering a so-called aphorism (格言) , such as a sentence designed to help artists deal with creative challenges. In research on creativity, people often see that if you are surprised or challenged, it can have a great influence on your inspiration and problem-solving abilities.
Using AI in this way is still unusual. “My results show that we have to think differently if we plan to use AI in creative practices,” she said.
In the further research of AI and creative professions, she believes it may be wise to rethink ways. In her project, the dancers started trying out the AI-based movements after she had fed all data (数据) into it. She had been working hard to make the machine’s dance look real. She said, “If I had started in the opposite end, by talking to the dancers about what they wanted, the project probably would have been better.”
42.What did Jennifer Smith do in her recent research
A. She trained AI to copy dance moves.
B. She developed new dancing skills.
C. She researched AI’s musical abilities.
D. She took pictures of skilled dancers.
43.What type of AI-based movement amazed the dancers
A. Smooth and popular ones. B. Natural and energetic ones.
C. Unusual and unexpected ones. D. Traditional and famous ones.
44.What is the example of the aphorism cards meant to show
A. The creative power of new ideas.
B. The importance of artistic practices.
C. The calming effect of fun games.
D. The connection between art and inspiration.
45.Which of the following might Jennifer agree on according to the underlined sentence
A. Feeding AI models with correct data.
B. Allowing dancers to lead the process.
C. Considering dancers’ opinions earlier.
D. Encouraging AI’s self-directed learning.

Some of my classmates believe that traveling is the best way to enjoy an exciting break. They say exploring new places allows them to return feeling refreshed. What’s more, it’s a great chance to open their eyes and learn about different cultures.
Others are excited to try something completely new—whether it’s picking up a skill like cooking, surfing, or photography. They think stepping out of their comfort zone will not only improve their abilities but also make their summer truly unforgettable.
As for me, I’ve decided to spend my time volunteering. Helping others and contributing to society sounds like the perfect way to make my vacation both active and meaningful. After all, what could be better than making a difference to people in need.
