Spring is the best season for planting trees.
(1)表示并列关系:and,not only…but also…,neither…nor…, as well as等
(3)表示因果关系:for,so,thus,therefore等。
(4)表示选择关系:or,either…or…等。
例:I have travelled to many places, but I still want to visit more.

Among the chaos of packing up my late grandmother’s attic, I found a small, locked wooden box hidden beneath a stack of yellowed newspapers. I managed to open it with an old screwdriver I found nearby. Inside, there was a bundle of letters tied together with a faded ribbon, and a delicate, dried-up rose.
The letters were written in a beautiful, flowing script that was almost illegible in places due to the ink fading over time. As I carefully unfolded the first one, which dated back to 1943, I was transported to a world of love, sacrifice, and war. The letters were a correspondence between my grandmother, then a young nurse named Clara, and a soldier named Benjamin.
Benjamin was stationed overseas, and his letters were filled with vivid descriptions of the cruel realities of war, yet also with tender declarations of his love for Clara. Clara’s letters, in turn, were filled with tales of her daily life, her longing for his return, and her support.
One letter, in particular, caught my attention. In it, Benjamin hinted at a secret mission, one that could potentially change the course of the war. He wrote that if anything were to happen to him, there was a “treasure” he wanted Clara to find. However, he never got the chance to illustrate further, and the subsequent letters were filled with worry and uncertainty as the war raged on.
As I read deeper into their story, I became determined to uncover the truth behind Benjamin’s mysterious “treasure”. I spent days searching for historical records, and even reached out to local historians and war veterans (老兵). Finally, I found a clue in an old newspaper article about a group of soldiers who had carried out a daring rescue operation during the war.
Following the trail, I discovered that Benjamin had been part of a team that had rescued a group of scientists who were working on a top-secret project. The “treasure” he spoke of, I realized, was not a material object, but the knowledge and hope that those scientists’ work represented.
This unexpected journey into my grandmother’s past not only gave me a newfound respect for her and Benjamin but also taught me the profound impact that love, sacrifice, and a single, mysterious letter could have on generations to come.

A. The knowledge and hope represented by the rescued scientists’ work.
B. A small, locked wooden box with a bundle of letters.
C. A daring rescue operation he had carried out during the war.
D. A secret document about the war that Benjamin had searched for.

1.答案:What
故填 What。
2.答案:what
3.答案:what
4.答案:whether
故填whether。
5.答案:where
When it is bitten into,省略it is,空处需填过去分词。故填bitten。
7.答案:how
故填 how。
8.答案:that
故填that。
Before you quit your job是时间状语从句,逗号后面的句子是主句,主句无主语,可判定为祈使句。
根据第一段“Inside, there was a bundle of letters tied together with a faded ribbon, and a delicate, dried-up rose.(盒子里有一捆信,用一条褪了色的缎带系在一起,还有一朵娇嫩的干玫瑰)”以及第四段“In it, Benjamin hinted at a secret mission, one that could potentially change the course of the war.(在信中,本杰明暗示了一个秘密任务,一个可能改变战争进程的任务)”可知,作者在木箱里发现了信,一朵干玫瑰,还有一个谜团的线索。故选C。
根据第二段“The letters were written in a beautiful, flowing script that was almost illegible in places due to the ink fading over time.(这些信是用优美流畅的字迹写的,由于墨水随着时间的流逝而褪色,有些地方几乎难以辨认)”可知,这些字母很难读是因为随着时间的推移,墨水褪色了。故选B。
3.答案:A
根据倒数第二段“The “treasure” he spoke of, I realized, was not a material object, but the knowledge and hope that those scientists’ work represented.(我意识到,他所说的“宝藏”不是实物,而是那些科学家的工作所代表的知识和希望)”可知,本杰明所说的“宝藏”是获救科学家的工作所代表的知识和希望。故选A。
根据最后一段“This unexpected journey into my grandmother’s past not only gave me a newfound respect for her and Benjamin but also taught me the profound impact that love, sacrifice, and a single, mysterious letter could have on generations to come.(这次意外之旅不仅让我对祖母和本杰明产生了新的尊重,也让我明白了爱、牺牲和一封神秘的信可能对后代产生的深远影响)”可知,作者对这一发现的感受是尊重并被信件背后的故事深深打动。
解析:①根据空前“It’s often said that a person’s thoughts create their reality.(人们常说,一个人的思想创造了他们的现实)”以及后文“Turning your mind towards the life you want can help you realise your ambitions.(把你的思想转向你想要的生活可以帮助你实现你的抱负)”可知,本句承上启下,进一步解释说明上一句话,也关联下一句“把注意力转向你想要的生活可以帮助你实现你的抱负”。
②根据后文“The Wright Brothers were two boys fascinated with the idea of flying. They had a toy that spun propellers using rubber bands and they dreamed of building their own flying machine. In 1903, they did just that, achieving the first powered aircraft flight.(莱特兄弟是两个对飞行的想法着迷的男孩。
③根据上文“The Wright Brothers were two boys fascinated with the idea of flying. They had a toy that spun propellers using rubber bands and they dreamed of building their own flying machine. In 1903, they did just that, achieving the first powered aircraft flight.(莱特兄弟是两个对飞行的想法着迷的男孩。
④根据上文“It can be useful to think about your values, which are simply the things that matter to you. Michelle Nicholls is a psychotherapist, someone who helps people understand their emotions and actions. She says, “If you enjoy donating your time or money to a cause, perhaps you value generosity. Maybe kindness also contributes to your dreams.”(思考你的价值观是很有用的,这些价值观就是对你重要的事情。
⑤根据上文“It’s important to remember that your dreams can change and things might not work out as you wish. Nicholls suggests this can be an opportunity to get curious by asking yourself these questions: What got in the way of the dream
