China has made a plan to help its people with weight control. Under the plan “weight management clinics
(门诊部)” will be set up in hospitals across the country. Doctors at these clinics will give medical advice on
weight management.
Obesity (肥胖) has greatly increased in China over the past 40 years. In general, people are eating more and
exercising less. By 2021, more than 400 million adults were too heavy. According to a medical study published in
The Lancet (《柳叶刀》), a medical journal, this number will rise to 630 million by 2050.

heart disease.
Big cities like Beijing and Shanghai have already set up weight control clinics. They use safe ways to help
people lose weight. These include healthy diets and traditional Chinese medicine.
People in countryside areas need help, too. A 2023 study found that obesity rates (比率) have been on the
rise since 2005 in countryside areas.
Many ads for weight loss solutions can be found on Chinese social media. Some even sell “magic” diet
pills. Experts say they can be dangerous. As a safer solution, China is now making medicines to help control the
desire for food.
The government is calling for the support of hotels, schools and businesses. Hotels are asked to, for

teach kids about healthy eating. In some cities, junk food isn’t allowed to be sold at or near schools.

Do you like to read comic books Do you know Captain America How about Spider-man And then
Superman 71
A comic book is a book made up of a series of pictures. The art and words are called “comic”, but that
doesn’t always mean “funny”. 72
Rodolphe Topffer was a teacher, but he also developed several comic strips which were published in
different places in 1827. These were all drawn carefully by hand. 73 Topffer wrote in horizontal (水平
的) blocks in his own handwriting. This became the standard(标准).
74 Here, artists loved the idea and developed the technique of using travel (穿行) in their comics,
试卷第 9 页,共 13 页
which were always popular. The French also took part in comic strips, while there were still others who stuck to
single comics that were going down the page in the book—instead of horizontal blocks.
Comics started to become popular in the 20th century. 75 Comic strip artists have often used art
to “make fun” of very serious subjects (话题). Even when they were not “making fun”, they used comics and
characters to deal with serious topics.
Comic books continue to be popular, but over time, many of their characters have also been pictured in
television shows and in movies.
A.Other artists don’t like comic strips.
B.Sometimes the comics are more serious.
C.Comic strips became popular in France.

Stress Before a Test
Many people experience stress before an exam. Actually, a little nervousness can help you perform your
best. However, when this stress becomes so excessive (过度的) that it really influences performance on an exam,
it is known as test stress.
There are a few causes of test stress.
● Fear of failure. If you care too much about your scores, the pressure car cause test stress.
● Poor testing history. If you have done poorly on tests before, either because you don’t study well enough
or because you are so stressed, you can’t remember the answers easily.

试卷第 10 页,共 13 页
Clear your room and your desk.
Have you heard the saying “A cluttered (杂乱的) desk is a sign of a cluttered mind ” It’s scientifically
correct.
More clutter around your work space makes it more difficult to be able to focus on preparing for the exam.
This is because physical clutter weakens your ability to think. So you need to clear your desk and your room. Do
the following to get organized.
● Reduce as much clutter as you can around your work space. Throw away anything that doesn’t need to
be there, e. g. photos, snacks.
● Use drawers. Store things away in your drawers. The only things you should have on your desk are the
tools and books you need.
● Clean your space. Since you’ve cleared your space, give your desk and room a good clean.
I believe that if you follow my tips, you’ll become a calmer and more successful student.

According to CCTV news, China’s Chang’e 6 probe (探测器) returned to Earth on June 25, 2024. With the
first-ever rock and soil samples (样本) from the far side of the moon, China’s space agency (中国航天局) called
the mission (任务) “a complete success” after the probe landed in northern China.
Chinese scientists think the returned samples include 2.5 million-year-old volcanic (火山的) rock and other
materials that scientists hope will answer questions about geographic (地理的) differences on the moon’s two
sides.
The samples could even help scientists to discover how planets are formed, according to the BBC.
The near side is what is seen from Earth, and the far side faces outer space. The far side is also known to
have mountains and impact craters (撞击坑).
Past US and Soviet (苏维埃) have collected samples from the moon’s near side, while the Chinese is the
first that has collected samples from the far side.
The moon program is part of a growing rivalry (竞争) with the US—still the leader in space exploration(探
索)—and others, including Japan and India. China has put its own space station in orbit (轨道) and regularly
sends astronauts (宇航员) there.
China’s leader Xi Jinping sent a message of congratulations to the Chang’e team, saying that it was a
“landmark (里程碑) achievement in our country’s efforts at becoming a space and technological power”.
The probe left Earth on May 3, and its journey lasted 53 days. Scientists are hoping that the sample
materials include traces of meteorite strikes (陨石撞击的痕迹) from the moon’s past.
Experts believe that the aim of future missions will be not only to explore, but to take control of the moon’s
resources.

Will you eat everything in your lunch box today If not, what will you do with the leftover food Save it
for another meal or throw it away
According to a report by the United Nations, 17 percent of all the food made around the world is wasted
each year. That’s about 931 million tons. 61 percent of the waste happens in homes, 26 percent in food services
such as restaurants and coffee shops, and 13 percent in stores.
The food waste happening in homes alone is 74kg for each person each year. And it happens not just in
rich countries like America, the UK and Australia. Sometimes food is also wasted in poor countries because they
don’t have good ways of keeping food fresh. People in richer countries usually eat out more. It means food waste
is simply changed from homes to restaurants.
The UN is working on a way to find where and how food is exactly being wasted. It’s the key to finding
ways to deal with the growing problem. Food is too important to waste.

74 Here, artists loved the idea and developed the technique of using travel (穿行) in their comics,
which were always popular.

●Unpreparedness. If you don’t work hard enough, this can add to your feeling of stress.
Does exam stress influence your grades If so, I’ll share with you a scientific tip to help overcome it. —
试卷第 17 页,共 23 页

根据短文内容,按要求回答问题。
According to CCTV news, China’s Chang’e 6 probe (探测器) returned to Earth on June 25, 2024. With the
first-ever rock and soil samples (样本) from the far side of the moon, China’s space agency (中国航天局) called
the mission (任务) “a complete success” after the probe landed in northern China.
试卷第 19 页,共 23 页
Experts believe that the aim of future missions will be not only to explore, but to take control of the moon’s
resources.

My Toy Monkey
I have received many gifts, among which I like the toy monkey given by my mother best of all.
Last summer holiday, I was addicted to screens almost every day, causing a sharp decline in my eyesight.
Then my mother gave me a gift—a toy monkey. She smiled and said, “The toy monkey can change your feelings
and make you happy at home.” I really like it. This toy monkey is yellow. It’s my favorite color. It’s chubby and
cute. It’s always smiling at me. So it makes me happy, too. Since I had this toy monkey, I have always been happy.
When I finish my homework, I play with it for a while every day. It has enriched my life a lot. This toy
