Mr. Pedersen is a Danish traveler who recently finished a trip around the world. But this wasn’t just any
normal trip. Mr. Pedersen spent nearly 10 years visiting every country in the world—and he did it all without
flying.

Once in order to cross a large body of water, Mr. Pedersen had to be on a boat for days and felt sick, being
tossed (颠簸) by strong waves during a storm. With a limited (有限的) budget (预算) , sometimes he was invited
by local people into their homes. At other times he had to sleep outside. What’s worse, he once became seriously
ill with a disease.
But he also had many good experiences. Mr. Pedersen said that he didn’t give up the trip because of the
help he got from people all over the world. “You might have to try 1000 closed doors,” he explained. “But there is
always an open door somewhere. Never, ever give up.”

hero What does someone have to do to become a hero
Well, in my opinion, there are three characteristics (特征) of a hero. First of all, heroes help others ★ .

Mr. Pedersen is a Danish traveler who recently finished a trip around the world. But this wasn’t just any
normal trip. Mr. Pedersen spent nearly 10 years visiting every country in the world—and he did it all without
flying.
In 2013, Mr. Pedersen read a passage about someone who had visited all the countries of the world. It made
him realize he could set a record by doing the same thing, but without flying. He hoped that he could finish his
trip in about four years, but the world had other plans. The first part of his trip was easy, but as he moved on,
things began to get hard.
Once in order to cross a large body of water, Mr. Pedersen had to be on a boat for days and felt sick, being

by local people into their homes. At other times he had to sleep outside. What’s worse, he once became seriously
