第一节:应用文写作(满分15分)
Dear Eric,
Glad to know that you are interested in the famous Chinese fable The Foolish Old
Man Removes the Mountains. The fable is about an old man deciding to move two mountains.
Despite facing difficulty and laughter,he worked tirelessly.Eventually, gods, impressed by
their perseverance, removed the mountain for him.
In the story, mountains symbolize challenges, while the old man represents persistence.
Using contrast between his hard work and other's laughter, the fable successfully conveys that
nothing is impossible if never giving up.
The fable makes me reflect on how I often give up when facing struggles.Realizing I need
to be more courageous,I sincerely hope this fable could serve as a motivation for you as well.

Onstage,21-year-old Jiang Zhounan brings stories to life, while offstage, she finds great joy and excitement in her own passionate story with speeding motorcycle. Born in 2003, Jiang represents the grace of the stage and the freedom of the open road. Her life combines the grace of traditional Yueju Opera with the thrill of biking.
Her journey into the world of art began by chance in her second year of junior middle school. During a singing practice, Jiang's clear voice and heartfelt emotion drew the attention of her teacher. Recognizing her talent, the teacher handed her a registration brochure for the Zhejiang Vocational Academy of Art, setting her on the path to becoming a Yueju Opera performer.
At the school, Jiang was lucky to find a teacher who provided professional guidance and personal support, allowing her to fully devote herself to the study of the art form. Upon graduating in 2022, she joined the Yueju Opera troupe(剧团) at the Nantong Art Theater, where she focuses on laodan (senior female roles) while also performing zhengdan (young female roles). Her excellent voice skills and nuanced (细致入微的) performances quickly made her a standout member of the troupe. Yueju Opera is a traditional style of opera popular in the Yangtze River Delta region. Its male roles are typically played by women.
But in her free time, Jiang falls in love with a different kind of performance. Shortly after starting her career, she met a group of female motorcyclists during an outreach performance in the countryside. Their confident, spirited behaviour fascinated her, leading to a passion for the speed and the freedom of motorcycling. In 2022, she bought herself a motorcycle, changing from a graceful Yueju Opera performer to an energetic, cool rider.
Jiang doesn't see her two identities as opposite. She believes everyone has many sides to their character, with the stage reflecting just one side of her life and motorcycling marking the change from work to personal life.

In a world where tech companies often compete to create the next productivity tool, a new device(仪器) is breaking away from the pack. Meet Friend: a new wearable AI companion that you wear around your neck. The small device records your every word and interaction and responds accordingly by text. They cost $99 and are expected to ship out in early 2025.
The device comes at a time when loneliness and social isolation(孤独) are at record highs. Studies show that 61% of young people in the U. S. suffer from serious loneliness, a figure that points to a growing mental health issue. While AI reshapes all the ways we interact in jobs, healthcare and fun activities— more and more people report feeling socially isolated, Schiffmann, Meet Friend's founder, sees it differently: the device isn't a replacement for human relationships but rather a way to fill the gaps when human companionship is hard to get.
AI companionship is controversial (有争议的). While some people, like Schiffmann, argue that it can help people feel less isolated, others worry that AI relationships might replace real human connections, and thus make people feel more lonely. If you are someone who already struggles with human interactions, the thinking goes, why would you continue to subject yourself to them when you have an AI friend who's fun and simple, and doesn't come with all the troubles from another person
But so far, the research doesn't seem to support this fear. Drake-Maples at Stanford University surveyed more than 1,000 students who used the AI chatbot Replika, and asked about how they felt about being lonely and getting support from others. About half of these users reported decreased anxiety, and a feeling of social support. Nearly a quarter of those surveyed said they are more able to deal with stress in their present relationship because of Replika's advice.
It is still a new field, though, and Drake-Maples says there needs to be guidelines. “Istrongly believe that you do need to have moral guidelines around AI companions pushing people back, when suitable, towards human relationships,” she says. These could be gentle reminders like “Hey, you should go chat with somebody about that” or “Go practice this now with a real human.”
28. What is Meet Friend aimed at
A. Offering a new approach to connection. B Improving the productivity at work.
C. Finding early signs of mental illness. D. Replacing human relationships.
29. What may happen when people with social difficulties use AI friends
A. AI may help avoid life's stress.
B. AI may worsen feelings of loneliness.
C. AI friends may become less enjoyable.
D. AI may make it easy to keep human connection.
30. What is Drake-Maples’ attitude towards AI companionship
A. Unclear. B. Careful. C. Against. D. Supportive.
31. Which of the following is the best title for the text
A. Can we trust an AI friend B. Will AI change human nature
C. Can an AI friend make us less lonely D. Will AI redefine mental health problems
D
If you ever feel that the world is against you, you are not alone. We all have a tendency to assume that when anything goes wrong, the fault lies within some great tricks against us. If a co-worker fails the deadline, they must be trying to beat you to a promotion. When the WiFi in a coffee shop doesn't work, the staff are likely lying about offering WiFi just to attract you inside.
But the fact is that these simple explanations, which we tend to jump to, are hardly true. Maybe your co-worker thought today was Tuesday, not Wednesday. Maybe the WiFi just went wrong. This is where Hanlon's Razor comes in——a useful mental model: if something can be fully explained by simple neglect(疏忽), never think it's done on purpose to cause harm.
Applying Hanlon's Razor, a useful tool for rapid decision-making and intelligent understanding in our daily lives, makes us less judgmental, and improve reasoning skills. Meanwhile, Hanlon's Razor allows us to have more empathy (同理心) and teaches us not to assume the worst intention in the actions of others. This value is most pronounced in relationships, business matters, and personal happiness.
We all lead complex lives where things are always going wrong. When this occurs, a common response is to blame the nearest person and assume they have bad intention. When someone messes up around us, we forget how many times we, too, have done the same. Instead, we regard the perpetrator as a source of strong annoyance.
To assume intention in such a situation is likely to worsen the problem. None of us can ever know what someone else wants. Inability or neglect is far more likely to be the real cause than the wish to hurt. When a situation causes us to become angry or upset, it can be valuable to consider if those emotions are reasonable. Often, the best way to react to other people causing us problems is by trying to communicate with them, not to ignore them. In this way, we can avoid repeats of the same situation.
32. What do we usually do when things fail
A. Accept true ill intention. B. Change present situations.
C. Seek reliable assistance. D. Misplace blame on others.
33. What can we learn about Hanlon's Razor
A. It is a tool for restoring WiFi connection.
B. It avoids taking neglect as intentional harm.
C. It is a way to deal with colleagues' problems.
D. It identifies who is to blame for making errors.
34. What does the underlined “the perpetrator” in paragraph 4 refer to
A. The mind reader. B. The event planner. C. The error maker. D. The problem solver.
35. What is advised to do when others cause a problem
A. Lend them a hand. B. Turn a blind eye to them.
C. Put them on the spot. D. Exchange ideas with them.

Ugh! You are absolutely sure you had your keys a second ago, and now they' re just gone! Before you get anxious, take a deep breath. 36 Losing things is a part of life, but finding them doesn't have to be a stressful rush. In this article, we'll teach you where you can look and how you can go over your steps again to find lost objects.
Identify what makes your missing object stand out in its environment. It might be its size, color, texture (质地) or shape. 37 It will make the process faster and more efficient .Instead of looking at everything in a space、this approach helps you focus your attention only on objects with that special mark.

Think about where your common lost objects tend to be lost. For example, maybe you have a habit of leaving your keys in the lock or your bag in the car. 3&
