“Living out of a suitcase” means you can fit your life into just a few bags and you don’t own or rent a long-term apartment. Essentially, you’re a nomad (流浪者). When I was fourteen years old, my mom had the idea of dropping everything to travel the world and create a closer connection between family members. Although I absolutely loved the idea, I couldn’t imagine leaving my friends, school, and all my “stuff” behind to travel the world full-time with my family.
To my surprise, during the travel, we have learned the most important moments are when we live happy moments with our family and friends. As we travel, we barely carry anything with us except the essential things like clothes, a laptop, notebooks, and toiletries (洗漱用品). We each carry a backpack and all five of us share two suitcases for clothes. After buying new souvenirs or new clothes, we give some of our old outfits away to people in need and it makes us so happy to be able to give back wherever we can.
At the beginning, it was difficult for us to get used to never having a closet (衣橱), constantly changing hotel rooms, and never fully unpacking before we were back on the road. But over time we have learned to appreciate the value of having less — the freedom to live for experiences and the joy of traveling “light” in mind, body, and spirit. Many of the wonderful new friends we have made on our journey have opened our eyes to how lucky we are. We have met families in many parts of the world who live in small homes with no running water, yet they always have huge smiles and are willing to share with us.
We now know that experiences and memories are the most valuable things in life and that they can only be acquired when we let go of our need for possessions and focus on what really matters in life — enjoying our lives each day with the people we love.
24.Why did the author’s mom decide to travel the world
A.To build stronger family bonds. B.To escape their current life.
C.To enrich their travel experiences. D.To ease the work pressure.
25.What was the author’s initial feeling about the idea of traveling the world
A.Annoyed and fearful. B.Confused but hopeful.
C.Pleased and excited. D.Interested but doubtful.
26.What did the family do with their old clothes after acquiring new ones
A.They directly threw them away. B.They kept them as souvenirs.
C.They donated them to people in need. D.They exchanged them with local residents.
27.What can be inferred from the last paragraph
A.We should let go of every single possession.
B.Material wealth and possessions bring happiness.
C.Material possessions should not be our ultimate goal.
D.The family used to place too much emphasis on wealth.
The intersection of art and technology has always fascinated humanity. Nowhere is this more evident than in the world of poetry, where artificial intelligence (AI) is starting to make significant steps. AI poets are computer programs designed to generate poems, modeled after the style, rhythm, and even some emotional aspects of human works.
AI has the ability to analyze vast databases of existing poems, identifying patterns in language, rhyme structures. Using machine-learning patterns, some AI poets can generate new lines of poetry.
However, a fundamental question remains: can AI-generated poetry truly replace the creative wisdom of human-made poetry Human poets draw on a lifetime of experiences, emotions, and cultural contexts to create their works. They use language not just as a means of communication but as a way to express the indescribable. In contrast, AI operates based on data and pattern. While it can produce technically perfect poems, it lacks the lived experiences and subjective feelings that give human poetry its quality of being true.
Poetry critics often point out that the best poems are those that resonate (共鸣) with readers, challenging their perspectives and bringing strong feelings. AI-generated poems, despite their technical complexity, often fail to achieve this emotional reflection. For instance, a human poem about love may capture the pain and joy of romantic relationships while an AI-generated poem on the same topic may seem lacking individual personality and imagination.
Supporters of AI poets claim that it can popularize the art form, making poetry creation accessible to anyone with a computer. AI could inspire a new generation of poets. Additionally, AI can introduce novel combinations of words and ideas, expanding the boundaries of what is considered poetry.
As the debate continues, the AI in poetry forces us to re-evaluate our understanding of creativity, art, and the human experience and challenges us to consider what makes a poem truly great.
28.What is the primary function of AI poets according to the passage
A.To boost human poets’ creativity. B.To teach people how to write poetry.
C.To analyze problems of existing poems. D.To create poems based on human poetry.
29.What is a major limitation of AI-generated poetry compared to human poetry
A.It cannot identify patterns in language. B.It cannot reach the real emotional depth.
C.It cannot produce technically perfect poems. D.It cannot generate poems with correct rhymes.
30.What is the potential benefit of AI poets
A.It can analyze traditional poetry. B.It can ensure the quality of poetry.
C.It can help more people create poetry. D.It can quickly evaluate human poetry.
31.What is the author’s overall attitude toward AI poets
A.Fairly objective. B.Entirely positive.
C.Quite negative. D.Highly critical.
In case you haven’t heard, the methane (甲烷) in cow burps (打嗝) is a major source of greenhouse gases. There may be a new way of addressing that problem, however, as a recent study shows that feeding cows clay (黏土) reduces their methane emissions by over 30%.
Cows produce methane as a byproduct of digesting their high-fibre diet, and burp the gas out on a continuous basis. According to the United Nations Environment Programme, that burped-out methane — from cows and other animals kept on farms—makes up about 40% of total global methane emissions and can contribute about 25 times more to global warming than carbon dioxide.
In order to reduce the methane in cow burps, scientists have experimented with cattle feed additives (a substance which is added in small amounts to foods) such as fish oil, seaweed, and even baby kangaroo poop. Now, clay is showing auspicious results.
In a study conducted by Dr. Bhaba Biswas and colleagues at Australia’s University of Newcastle, it was found that adding a highly-processed form of the natural clay to regular cattle feed reduced the animals’ methane emissions by more than 30% over a 24-hour period.
According to Biswas, the clay limits the activity of gut microbes (肠道微生物) which produce the methane. The material appears to be harmless to the cattle — after all, they regularly take in soil when farming — and in fact could even have health benefits such as reduced the degree of containing acid in guts. It is ultimately passed with the wastes.
The additives certainly don’t solve the whole problem. More research still needs to be conducted. But methane-cutting additives increasingly look like a promising way to solve a big part of a very big problem. It is hoped that the highly-processed clay could eventually be sold in the form of inexpensive feeding products.
32.Why is methane in cow burps considered a serious issue
A.It is as harmful as carbon dioxide. B.It is the only source of greenhouse gases.
C.It is likely to speed up the global warming. D.It is hard to control the frequency of cow burps.
33.What does the underlined word “auspicious” in paragraph 3 mean
A.Opposite. B.Promising. C.Undesirable. D.Mixed.
34.How does the clay reduce the methane emissions in cattle
A.By improving the nutrition absorption. B.By replacing methane with other gases.
C.By effectively killing more gut microbes. D.By lowering the activity of gut microbes.
35.What is the best title of the text
A.Clay Reduces Methane in Cow Burps B.The Environmental Impact of Cow Burps
C.The Role of Methane in Global Warming D.Innovative Solutions for Livestock Farming

Last summer, a group of high-school students, including Lily, Tom, and Jack, participated in an environmental protection camp in a small coastal town. The town was famous for its beautiful beaches, but recently, it had been suffering from severe pollution due to the large amount of plastic waste washed up on the shore.
On the first day of the camp, the instructor, Mr. Green, took them to the beach. What they saw was shocking. The once-clean sand was covered with all kinds of plastic items, from bottles and bags to broken toys. “This is the result of our inappropriate use of plastic,” Mr. Green said seriously. “Our goal this week is to clean up this beach and raise people’s awareness of environmental protection.”
The students immediately got to work. They divided into several groups, each equipped with gloves and large trash bags. Lily and her group were responsible for the northern part of the beach. As they picked up the plastic waste, they were disappointed by the amount of it. “How could people be so irresponsible ” Lily complained angrily. Tom, who was in the same group, sighed, “It seems like an endless task, but we have to do something.”
After hours of hard work, they managed to fill dozens of trash bags. However, they knew that this was just a solution for a short time, not permanent. They needed to find a more effective way to prevent the plastic pollution. That evening, they had a group discussion. Everyone shared their ideas. Jack suggested organizing a community-wide campaign to encourage people to reduce plastic use. Some students thought it was a good idea, but others were worried that it might not attract enough attention.

We all know we are supposed to exercise to stay in shape, but sometimes going to the gym can become boring. That’s when you have to find a new challenge. If you live in an area with mountains and snow, you definitely should try snowboarding.
First of all, snowboarding is great exercise. It’s good for your heart. Of course, you must take things slowly at first; you can’t expect to fly down a mountain like an Olympic snowboarder on your first day. Like any activity, you must practice to become more advanced. You shouldn’t start on high hills, for example. First you have to learn to control the board on small hills.
Another great thing about snowboarding is that it is easy to get started. Instructors are easy to find, and you don’t have to buy a lot of things. In fact, you should rent a board at first. Then, if you enjoy it, you can buy your own board.
With snowboarding, you don’t have to worry about a lot of rules because there aren’t any! Snowboarding is a fairly new sport, but it has quickly become very popular. Try snowboarding today! You won’t regret it!

66.Dear Organizing Committee,
I am writing to express my sincere interest in becoming a volunteer for the upcoming Table Tennis Qualification Trial of World Middle School Games in our city.
There are two key reasons why I believe I would be an ideal candidate for this role. Firstly, having served as an assistant during our city’s Youth Sports Festival last year, I have gained practical experience in event coordination, crowd management, and emergency response. Most importantly, as a table tennis player myself, I possess a deep understanding of the sport’s rules, which will allow me to provide professional support for athletes and referees.
I am genuinely excited about the opportunity to contribute to this event. Thank you for considering my application.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua
67. Just then, Lily had an inspiration. “Why not use social media ” she said passionately. “We can create short and eye-catching videos about the beach pollution and our cleaning efforts. Then post them on platforms like TikTok. With the power of the Internet, we can reach a much wider audience.” The others were immediately excited about the idea. They spent the next few days filming the videos and appealing to people to take action. Tom, who was good at video editing, worked day and night to make the videos as attractive as possible.
The campaign turned out to be a huge success. Once the videos were uploaded, they went viral within a few days. Many people liked and shared them. The residents were deeply touched and decided to join the fight. Some businesses started to provide eco-friendly alternatives to plastic products. The students were overjoyed to see their small actions making such a big difference. They realized that with determination and creativity, they could contribute to protecting the environment.
