Nowadays many people go camping for fun. Camping can be enjoyed in the backyard or deep in the wilderness. Whether camping for one night or several weeks, being prepared is the key.
Endless funOnce the tent, your base, is put up and the fire area is prepared, there is lots to do. Fishing and hiking are just some of the fun activities. At night, campers often sit by the fire, talking and telling stories. If the weather turns rainy, campers usually wait it out in their tents, reading, drawing or playing games.
Required equipmentShelter (避难所), bedclothes, food and water are necessary. Deciding what else you will need depends on the kind of camping trip you are planning and the length of your trip. Pack light if you are going to carry equipment any distance. Clothing should be prepared enough to protect against weather and insects. A hat, whistle, bug repellent (驱虫剂) and rope may come in handy. Don’t forget a flashlight, a compass, cookers and a first-aid box.
Various tentsThere are many types and styles of tents. You should choose your tent based on your needs. If you are camping alone in the backyard (后院), a simple lean-to or small tent may do. If you are camping with your family, a larger cabin tent or camping trailer (野营拖车) may be best. Lean-to tents Pup tents Alpine tents Dome tents made from a blanket Light, ideal for backpacking safe for extreme weather come in many sizes
Proper locationsWhere you decide to set up your campsite is very important. Look for a high and dry location if it rains. The ground should be level because hills and rocks are uncomfortable to sleep on. A sunny exposure (接触) in the morning with shade in the afternoon is ideal.

It was a week after my mom had passed away and I didn’t know how to go on with life. So when I received an email from a friend about a race that could be good for cancer (癌症) research, I ignored (忽略) it. It seemed to hurt my feelings, as cancer was the disease that had taken my mother away from me.
But something about my friend's words— “I can help organize the whole thing” —stuck with me. I felt obliged (有义务) to agree. In the weeks to come, I managed to re-enter the world of the living. I checked our team’s website daily, feeling proud each time a donation came in. I knew my mom would have wanted it that way. She was the type who never got beaten by difficulties. It was this very spirit that helped me get by.
When the race ended, I noticed the runners all had one thing in common: There were big smiles on their faces. They made it look so rewarding and effortless. I wanted in.
So I signed up for another race two months later. Considering I could hardly run a mile, it was a challenging task. But my friend and I made a training plan so I wouldn’t come in last. I followed it and didn’t let anything get in my way.
Running up and down the city’s hills, I was filled with memories. I had lived there after college and my mother had visited often. I passed Bloomingdale’s, recalling the time she and I had gotten into a terrible argument (争论) there.
I was about to beat myself up when I remembered what Mom had said after her diagnosis (诊断) of cancer. “I don’t want you to feel sorry for anything.” Her paper-thin hands had held me tightly. A weight was lifted from my shoulders.
When the race day arrived, I gave it my all for my mom and for all she had taught me and continued to teach me. As I ran, whenever I felt like slowing down, I pictured her cheering me on. Crossing the finish line, I was filled with her love and a sense of peace.

Tomatoes are red, the sky is blue, and bananas are yellow, right Well, not exactly—color does not really exist (存在). What exists is light. Light is real, but color is not. It is our brain that creates color.
We're told to trust our eyes, but our eyes have little to do with vision (视觉). We see much more with our brains. You sometimes see different colors because your brain thinks they have a different meaning. The brain does this by looking at what’s around the object. Here is an example. If you see a person wearing a white shirt against different backgrounds, your brain might express the same white color differently. Suppose this person stands in front of a bright yellow background, your brain might think the white shirt is more like gray. If the person moves to a dark blue background, the same white shirt might appear closer to a brighter color.
Color is created according to our past experiences, and sometimes there are optical illusions (视错觉). That is because your brain includes the recent history of what you saw, at least for a brief time. But if you watch the thing for a longer time, your brain may forget the recent history and see the real color.
This raises the question: Do you see what I see The answer, in short, is no. Our past and present experiences are different. None of us even sees the world as it really is, but as a meaning that comes from our own experiences. It’s clear that seeing is not always believing.
21.What is the main idea of Paragraph 1
A.Tomatoes are red, the sky is blue and bananas are yellow.
B.Light is more important than color.
C.Color is created by our brain, not real.
D.Our eyes can’t see the real color.
22.Why might a white shirt look different against different backgrounds
A.Because the shirt changes its color.
B.Because our eyes can’t see the real color.
C.Because the background light is different.
D.Because our brain thinks the color has different meanings according to the background.
23.Which word is close to the underlined word “brief”
A.Hard. B.Simple. C.Quick. D.Short.
24.Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage
A.We see with our eyes, not with our brains.

C.If you watch a thing for long, you may see its real color.
D.People see the world as it really is.
25.Which can be a proper title for the text

51.例文
Dear John,
I’m glad to hear from you. Now I’ll tell you my opinion about the rapid development of AI.
The invention of DeepSeek (Kimi) has made AI a hot issue among people in our society. Many people feel worried about the rapid development of AI. But I don’t think so.
DeepSeek can help us do many things, like learning foreign languages, designing your trip. But I believe it is only a tool that people have used. So there is no need for us to worry too much about the development of AI. AI will never completely take the place of human beings. Instead, it has many advantages. AI can be used to do dangerous jobs and keep workers safe. For example, the AI snake robots can help look for people alive under the fallen buildings. AI helps scientists to do research in many ways.
In my opinion, AI is becoming more and more popular in the future. It will bring us a big surprise and make our lives more convenient.
