And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth.

Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same.
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should even come back.

In this poem, the poet presents a person who is not sure about what to do. He thinks about the future so he cannot make a decision based on the present situation. The main theme of this piece is choice and uncertainty. In this poem, the speaker has to make a choice and he is uncertain about the best one. He thinks what he will choose cannot be suitable for him. The poem highlights the sensation of regret that accompanies all the roads that a person doesn’t take.
effect
Whichever road we choose, we may have problems and hard time. What we should do is to keep moving, try to solve the problems and be responsible for our own choices, instead of being trapped in the regret of not taking other roads.
