Directions: Write an English composition in 120-150 words according to the instructions given below in Chinese.
1. 你建议去除的栏目及去除的理由;
Dear Editor,
I’ve learned that our English Post is being reformed and one of the three columns is to be replaced by a new one. I’m writing this e-mail to share with you my opinions.
Needless to say, the columns will definitely be designed according to students’ interest and have positive effects on their study and life.
Compared to the entertainment , I hold the view that the value of the columns concerning health and culture is more important . The main factor is that it is of great significance to keep healthy while loss of health means kissing goodbye to life. Consequently, more knowledge of how to keep fit can improve the quality of life. In addition, the progress in acquiring cultures contributes to broadening one’s horizons, which in turn is beneficial to one’s study and the establishment of philosophy of life.
Furthermore, the career planning should be taken into account in the school English Post . On the one hand, it covers one’s career development a great deal .On the other hand, it makes a great difference to one’s career success in the future.
What has been mentioned above is my personal ideas. Here I am in the hope that my advice will add a brilliant touch to the improved version of our school English Post.
Yours sincerely,
Cheng Fei

Dear Headmaster, We have been asked about our opinions on opening iPad classrooms. I am in favor of this plan for the following reasons. To begin with, everyone learns differently. Students can customize their iPad with materials that fit their level and learning style, and thus tailor it to different needs. Moreover, when connected to the Internet, students can interact with teachers and classmates about what they learn more conveniently. For the sake of environmental protection, opening iPad classrooms is a good way to save trees that we have been cutting down for paper. Most importantly, I believe students will develop their interests in the subjects by enjoying a new way of learning. I hope you would take my ideas into consideration and we look forward to attending an iPad class.

Dear Sir/ Madam,
I am writing to report the loss of my wallet. On 1st November, 2018 I flew business class on your flight 753 from China to London.
I clearly remember it was with me immediately I boarded the plane. However, on arrival in London Heathrow Airport, I found it gone. I guess it must have slipped out of my pocket during the flight. It is a black leather one with around 200 dollars, my ID card, and 2 credit cards in it. Along with the items mentioned above, the wallet contains a family photo, my precious memory. As you can imagine, these matter a lot to me.
Has anybody happened to find it Please email me at xxx@

Dear Mr. President,
I am writing to express my concern over the Library service on the campus.
As a major in English, I find that most of the books in English in the library are outdated. So far, I have not come across a single book published after 1995. As a result, we fail to get the latest information of academic development both at home and abroad. In addition, the light in the reading room is far from bright, which does harm to our eyes. Worse still, there is no air-conditioning and we are sweating heavily still while reading. Last but not least, the newly developed electronic information system does not work well and needs further improvement. A great number of books should have been listed in the system.
There is no denying that the library has helped us a lot. But it is in urgent need of improvement. When improved, the library is certain to provide much more help with our study.
Thank you for your time. I am looking forward to your reply.
Yours sincerely,

In my opinion, money can’t take the place of everything, such as your life, your time and your happiness.(表达自己的价值观)
(4) “Two reasons account for that you won,” the teacher answered.“First, you’ve almost mastered one of the most difficult throws in all of judo.

At midnight the sky became clearer and the stars grew brighter. It was so quiet. There was almost no wind—only the flames of our fire for company.
She sat on the damp grass, and stared up at the pale stars in the vast sky, tears streaming down her dirty face. The bone-chilling howling wind forced her to curl up.
The dark , rainy evening, the wind, the thundering clouds held me entirely in their power; it was the first time in a year and a half that I’d seen the night face to face.
At one point we were so high that we found ourselves cycling through clouds.
