On December 17, 2024, two Chinese astronauts made history in spacewalk. Cai Xuzhe and Song Lingdong broke a record by staying outside the Tiangong Space Station for over nine hours. This spacewalk was part of their mission on Shenzhou 19.
They worked hard in space and stayed outside the spaceship for 9 hours and 6 minutes, breaking the old world record by 10 minutes. The last record was set by NASA astronauts James Voss and Susan Helms in 2001.
Cai stepped out first at 12:51 p.m., and Song followed about 90 minutes later. They returned to the space station at 9:57 p.m. While they were busy outside the spaceship, the third team member, Wang Haoze, stayed inside the station to help. He worked with scientists on the Earth and used the station’s robotic arm. During the space walk, Cai and Song made the most of their hours and completed many tasks, such as checking equipment and placing a device (设备) to stop damage from space debris (残骸).
This was China’s 17th spacewalk. These astronauts are not just working for China, but also for all people on the Earth. Their teamwork and courage show that space dreams can come true. They are true heroes who “reach for the stars” and prove that the sky is not the limit (极限). Their success encourages others to dream big and believe that anything is possible—even walking in space!
36. Two Chinese astronauts broke a record in spacewalk in 2024.

When was the last time you left home without your mobile phone Can you imagine yourself living without using it for a whole month
I used to feel I had to stay connected all the time. Talking to others online was a big part of my life. But sometimes, it made me feel tired and stressed. One day, I was terribly tired after school. So I turned off my phone notifications (通知). However, I was afraid I might miss something important, so I kept checking my phone over and over again. It made me even more tired! So then I decided to stop using it completely.
To tell the truth, it wasn’t easy at first. In the first few days, I worried that my friends would forget about me. I didn’t know what to do when I had free time. I couldn’t stop thinking about my phone, and I felt bored and uneasy. But after about three weeks, things started to change. I felt more relaxed. I liked how quiet and peaceful life became. I also found time to think and enjoy things around me. One big change was that I could focus (集中) better. Before, I would often stop what I was doing to check my phone. But after a month without it, I didn’t feel that strong urge anymore. I could enjoy the moment more.
In the end, I learned something important: the world is a beautiful place when you really pay attention to it. Maybe you should set down the phone in your hand once in a while, just to feel the world with your true self.
46. Why did the writer first turn off phone notifications

C. Leave phones forever and just be yourself. D. Put down the phones sometimes and feel the world.
50. What is the best title for the passage
A. A Need to Stay Connected. B. A Month Without My Phone.
C. The Stress of Using My Phone. D. A Day I Left My Phone at Home.
C
In spring, especially in Kunming, you can see some people wear T-shirts while others are still in thick coats. That’s because people feel temperatures differently even in the same weather. In fact, our bodies don’t feel temperature directly. Instead, we have sensors (传感器) on our skin that sense heat, cold, or warmth. These sensors send messages to the brain to help us feel temperature. They can be found in our noses and on our hands and feet, too.
Body size and fat also influence how we feel. Even if people are the same size, those with more body fat may feel warmer because fat under the skin helps keep heat in. For example, older people often feel colder than younger people, because the fat under their skin becomes thinner with age.
Height can also make a difference. Blood carries heat, and we need blood to move around our bodies to stay warm. If someone is taller, it takes more time and effort for blood to travel around the body. That’s why taller people may feel colder.
Another factor is metabolism (新陈代谢)—how fast your body uses energy. People with a higher metabolism usually produce more body heat and feel hotter. They may also take longer to cool down. People with more muscles (肌肉) also feel warmer than others.
So, the next time you wonder why you feel cold while your friend feels hot, remember: it might be about fat, height, muscles, or even how your body uses energy. Everyone’s body acts a little differently to the same air temperature.

A. By listing numbers. B. By explaining reasons.
C. By asking a question. D. By giving an example.

a. On our feet. b. In our hair. c. On our hands. d. In our noses.

53. According to the passage, what carries heat around the body to keep us warm
A. Fat. B. Nose. C. Blood. D. Muscles.
54. Which of the following people might feel colder than others
A. People who are taller. B. People who are younger.

A Skill That Makes Me Proud
One skill that makes me proud is cooking. I started learning to cook when I was ten years old.
At first, I could only fry an egg, but now I can cook many dishes like fried rice, tomato noodles, and even dumplings. Once, my parents were very tired after work. I surprised them by making dinner—simple, but full of love. They were so happy and proud of me, and I felt proud too.
Cooking is not only a useful life skill but also a way to show care for others. It teaches me patience, creativity, and independence. I believe this skill will help me for the rest of my life.
