In a small village in Zhejiang Province, a group of young craftsmen are breathing new life into an ancient art form — traditional brick carving. This 500-year-old craft, once on the verge of extinction, has found unexpected revival through modern design and e-commerce platforms.
The turning point came in 2018 when 26-year-old Li Wei returned to his hometown after studying architectural design. Combining his knowledge of 3D modeling software with ancestral carving techniques, Li developed innovative patterns featuring both dragons (traditional Chinese symbols) and abstract geometric shapes. His team now uses drone photography to document village architecture, transforming these images into digital blueprints for carvings.
Surprisingly, 60% of their customers come from overseas markets. Through livestream demonstrations on cross-border e-commerce platforms, international buyers can watch artisans turn raw clay into delicate artworks. The most popular item — a moon-shaped wall decoration combining brick carving with LED lighting — has sold over 10,000 units in Europe alone.
Local authorities have supported this revival by establishing a “Brick Culture Experience Center” where visitors try basic carving under master craftsmen’s guidance. The center also runs workshops for school children, ensuring the craft’ s survival for future generations. This blend of tradition and technology offers a promising model for preserving other endangered crafts worldwide.

In 2024, China held 671 marathons and road races, showing the growing popularity of these events. The number reflects the nation’s increasing enthusiasm for running and the desire for a healthy lifestyle.
Marathons come in various types. The full marathon, with a distance of 42.195 kilometers, challenges even the most seasoned runners who have taken part for many times, testing their endurance (耐力) and willpower to the limit. It suits highly trained athletes who have spent months, even years, preparing their bodies and minds. The half marathon,21.0975 kilometers long, is easier to reach. It attracts those with a good running base who want a big challenge but not the full marathon distance. It allows runners to experience the excitement of long-distance running without the extreme physical and mental demands. The quarter marathon, with a distance of about 10.54875 kilometers, is suitable for those who have been regularly running and have participated in shorter races.
Road races, on the other hand, are running competitions held on paved roads. They can include shorter distances like 5 kilometers or 10 kilometers. These shorter road races are ideal for beginners or those who want a fun, less intense running experience. They also offer a great way for people to get fit and stay active, as they are less demanding in terms of training and preparation.
These events promote not only physical health but also a spirit of perseverance (毅力) and determination among participants. They bring people together, encouraging a sense of community and teamwork. Runners from all walks of life come together to support and cheer each other on, creating a positive and inspiring atmosphere.

Forgot your password or your ID Well facial recognition (FR) technology can help. Using just their faces, people can unlock their smartphones, make payments and take the subway. FR technology has also been used to catch criminals. However, as the use of FR applications has become more widespread, the technology has caused controversy over privacy and financial security risks. A survey said that almost 65 percent of surveyed people think that FR technology is being misused.
Even worse, more than 30 percent said they actually experienced financial loss as well as privacy violation due to facial information leaks and misuse. According to “Xinhua”, many application do have loopholes (漏洞) that could lead to leaks in personal and facial information data. Loopholes aren’t the only worry, though. On some online trading platforms, only 2 yuan is charged for thousands of photos of people’s face, but such trade is neither authorized nor legal.
In August, two suspects were arrested in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, for stealing and reselling personal information. This has raised concerns about the security of personal bio-information. “Physical characteristics, including facial features and fingerprints, are some of the most important identifiers for individuals. Unlike our ID which can be changed, our bio-information stays permanent for life,” Zhang Xin, a professor at the University of international Business and Economics, told CGTN. Therefore, there should be a legal framework that manages the collection, use, storage and transmission of bio-information, according to Zhang.
Though China does not have specific rules relating to FR technology, the China Cyber Security Law, which came into effect in 2017, states that personal information can only be collected when individuals are informed and agree to the aims and scope (范围) of the collection. The Civil Code, which was adopted this year, also states that individuals’ permission is required before the collection and processing of personal information. And users have the right to ask to withdraw their personal information, according to Zhu Wei, assistant director of the Communication Law Research Center at the China University of Political Science and Law.
Tech companies have been improving their FR algorithm (算法) and the ways in which they collect data. They are now handling security risks with more advanced technology, like federated learning that can train the algorithm without directly accessing the data the company collects. This reduces the possibility of leaks.
32. Why does the author raise a question at the beginning of the passage
A. To state FR technology’s benefits.
B. To raise concerns about FR technology.
C. To discuss the misuse of FR technology
D. To warn people of FR technology’s risk.
33. What is the reason for personal information leaks
A. People’s lack of privacy awareness.
B. The misuse of FR technology.
C. Imperfection of many apps.
D. Illegal offline trading of personal information.
34. What’s the feature of our bio-information
A. Easily available.
B. Changeless forever.
C. Changing with time.
D. Under the protection.
35. What can be inferred from paragraph 4
A. China has complete laws on FR technology.
B. The adoption of laws on FR technology is to protect human rights.
C. It’s illegal for users to upload and withdraw their personal information.
D. Some people have rights to get personal information without permission.

67. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。续写的词数应为150左右。
I was never a fast runner and thus I always didn’t like running. Throughout my childhood, whenever we competed in the 50-meter run, the 400-meter, or any other type of race, I would finish in the bottom half. In my late teens, as a member of a baseball team, I was the slowest runner on the team. In the preseason training, I was always the one running by myself at the end.
Therefore, twenty years later, when I entered my first official running race — a 3,000-meter challenge in my city — at age 38, I certainly didn’t expect to win or come close to winning.
I was there because my college friend Jim Hosek was the director of the race, and he asked me to run. The race was aimed at raising money for the unfortunate patients in a hospital and encouraging the patients and their fanilies to be brave, determined, and confident with sportsmanship.
It was a heartwarming program.I wanted to support it, so I showed up, paid the entrance fee, had a number pinned (把……别住) on my back, and moved over to the starting line. There, I waited with about 300 other runners for the race to begin. I was nervous. Would I be the last one to finish a race again Could I even finish the race I wondered.
Before long, someone spoke into a microphole, “Anyone weighing over 200 pounds comes down to the scale (秤), please.” Knowing I was over 200 pounds, I walked down to the scale. A man told me to stand on it. “Two hundred and three pounds,” he said. Then he wrote down the race number that was on my back. Out of curiosity, I asked him why he did so,and then I was told there would be an award ceremony (仪式) after the race. One award was for the first finisher in the over 200-pound group, and this special award would be announced at the end of the ceremony.
Not expecting the award, I ran towards the starting line, never realizing there were only two runners weighing over 200 pounds.
Paragraph 1:
Soon after, the race started.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Paragraph 2:
Then came the last award, and to my surprise, my name was announced.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】 Soon after, the race started. While I was running, I saw many runners pass me on the way. Minutes later, I already felt tired. However, to encourage those in need, I tried to show the best of me, without worrying about the result. I kept moving forward as fast as I could. After most runners finished the race, I finally made it to the finish line. Despite the tiredness, I was satisfied. Shortly after the race, the award ceremony began and several awards were presented.
Then came the last award, and to my surprise, my name was announced. Confused and excited, I walked up to the winner’s platform and was awarded a medal. As the crowd cheered and clapped loudly, I felt warmth in my heart. After the ceremony, I learned from my friend Jim that there were only two runners weighing over 200 pounds. Although I only beat one person, Jim praised me for my determination, courage, and kindness. Honestly, I was proud of myself. This race increased my love for running and my confidence in myself.2024-2025学年高二下学期期中考试

第二节(满分25分)

Paragraph 2:
Then came the last award, and to my surprise, my name was announced.
