Fifteen years ago, I took a summer vacation in Lecce in southern Italy. After climbing up a hill for a panoramic (全景的) view of the blue sea, white buildings and green olive trees, I paused to catch my breath and then positioned myself to take the best photo of this panorama.
Unfortunately, just as I took out my camera, a woman approached from behind, and planted herself right in front of my view. Like me, this woman was here to stop, sigh and appreciate the view.
Patient as I was, after about 15 minutes, my camera scanning the sun and reviewing the shot I would eventually take, I grew frustrated. Was it too much to ask her to move so I could take just one picture of the landscape Sure, I could have asked her, but something prevented me from doing so. She seemed so content in her observation. I didn’t want to mess with that..
Another 15 minutes passed and I grew bored. The woman was still there. I decided to take the photo anyway. And now when I look at it, I think her presence in the photo is what makes the image interesting. The landscape, beautiful on its own, somehow comes to life and breathes because this woman is engaging with it.
This photo, with the unique beauty that unfolded before me and that woman who “ruined” it, now hangs on a wall in my bedroom. What would she think if she knew that her figure is captured and frozen on some stranger’s bedroom wall A bedroom, after all, is a very private space, in which some woman I don’t even know has been immortalized (使……永存). In some ways, she lives in my house.
Perhaps we all live in each others, spaces. Perhaps this is what photos are for: to remind us that we all appreciate beauty, and that we all share a common desire for pleasure, for connection, for something that is greater than us.
That photo is a reminder, a captured moment, an unspoken conversation between two women, separated only by a thin square of glass.

A. The rich color of the landscape.
B. The perfect positioning of the camera.

D. The soft sunlight that summer day.
27.The passage can be seen as the author’s reflections upon .
A. a particular life experience
B. the pleasure of traveling

Has someone ever told you something that made you doubt your own memory or judgment If so, you may be a victim of gaslighting: “Gaslighting” is a kind of psychological abuse to gain power over others by purposely making other people think they’re wrong even when they’re right. The term comes from Patrick Hamilton’s play in 1938. Lead character Jack Manningham seeks to convince his wife Bella that she is going crazy, by saying she is imagining the dimming of the gas light in their home, when it was actually he who lowered the brightness of the light.
Gaslighting is initially used to talk about what happens in romantic relationships. However, many individuals also experience gaslighting at work. In fact, a recent survey has found that 58% of the respondents said they have experienced gaslighting at work. It’s unsurprising since gaslighting usually involves a power relationship and a need to control others. In the workplace, the dynamics between a boss and his employee can be the perfect breeding ground for this type of behavior. You boss may tell you to handle an assignment in a certain way, but when you do, he gets annoyed and says it isn’t what he wants. It makes you feel like your memory is faulty.
In order to find out whether your boss’s behavior really constitutes gaslighting or he is just a poor communicator, you could write down your experiences and ask yourself what really has happened, what his motives might be, and how your emotion is affected. But always be careful because gaslighters know how to fly under the radar. They are skilled at weakening an employee’s confidence and sense of reality in a clever and hard-to-prove way.
To protect yourself, at the end of the conversation with your boss, repeat back what you have heard and follow up with an e-mail restating the main points, documenting the interactions between you two. But don’t get your hopes high that this will automatically solve the problem, Robin Stern, author of The Gaslight Effect, warns, because it’s hard to get a gaslighter to change his behavior pattern. If things don’t improve, you may want to consider getting out of the gaslighting situation by looking for a new position.
28.Why does the author mention Patrick Hamliton’s play in paragraph 1
A. To introduce a famous play in history.

D. To explain the relationship between couples.
29.Why is gaslighting common in the workplace according to the text
A. Because employees are too sensitive.
B. Because bosses are poor communicators.
C. Because employers want to dominate.
D. Because work assignments are too difficult.
30.What is suggested for employees to determine if their boss is gaslighting them
A. E-mailing their boss to ask for documents.
B. Having an argument with the boss.
C. Recording and analyzing their experiences.
D. Making a complaint to the superiors.
31.What is the author’s purpose in writing this passage
A. To introduce gaslighting’s origin and its solutions.
B. To highlight gaslighting’s harm and its reasons.
C. To discuss a survey on gaslighting and its effects.
D. To explain gaslighting’s definition and its types.

Online marketplaces for goods and services are increasingly valuable and powerful. When it comes to their reputation systems, they typically take the form of five-star ratings. While the systems are good enough at identifying and weeding out very low-quality products or suppliers, they do a poor job of separating good from great products or suppliers.
This may not be a big issue for marketplaces offering basic, mass-market products and services (e. g. Uber or Didi), but it can be a serious problem for marketplaces where it is important to allow truly great providers to differentiate themselves clearly.
In their current application, five-star rating systems suffer from several shortcomings. Lacking motivations for providing truthful feedback, users who have extreme experiences (either very bad or very good) are much more likely to leave feedback than users who have average experiences, thus creating selection biases. Ratings are also likely to experience “grade” inflation (贬值), so that in some marketplaces having a 4.8-star average, or 96% positive feedback, does not mean that the supplier is particularly exceptional. And on some marketplaces, the difference between 4.5 stars and 4.8 stars could be massive, making it hard for users to differentiate OK suppliers from very good ones.
Several options are available to offer users a more precise sense of suppliers’ relative ranking. A basic thing they could do would be to show users the average score for all suppliers in the relevant category. By seeing the whole distribution and where the supplier fits in it, the user could quickly get a sense of the overall situation. The second key measure advocated is to adjust user ratings for differences in reviewing behavior. Specifically, a given user’s review could be given a larger weight if there is a higher variance in the individual’s reviewer scores (in contrast to someone who always gives the same or similar score).
Although rating systems alone can’t guarantee trust and safety in online marketplaces, applying these measures can make rating systems more reliable and reduce the need for additional services.
32.What role can five-star rating systems play in online marketplaces
A. They can make online platforms look more reliable.
B. They can make excellent providers stand out easily.
C. They can ensure consumers always get the best quality.
D. They can help tell extremely poor products from others.
33.What can be inferred from a hotel’s 4.8-star rating on an online travel site
A. Most guests had great stays.
B. It offers incomparable service.
C. The rating may be misleading.
D. It’s far better than 4-star hotels.
34.What helps users better understand suppliers’ relative ranking
A. Presenting the exceptional scores of all suppliers.
B. Displaying the total number of reviews for each supplier.
C. Highlighting reviews from the same user with distinct scores.
D. Evaluating reviews from various users with consistent scores.
35.What is the main purpose of the passage
A. To contrast rating methods for suppliers.
B. To expose the problems of rating systems.
C. To present the advantages of rating systems.
D. To suggest improvements for rating systems.

阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
In every culture throughout time, the kitchen has had a powerful influence. The simple practice of sitting down together at the table gives us the chance to connect and communicate. 36
It depends on where you live, your age, and other factors, but the answer is, yes. Our intentions for “home” are evolving.
37 Fast-paced lifestyles and work schedules make it hard to find time to shop for groceries and prepare meals. Online food delivery services have taken off, too. In 2016, one in 10 Chinese were ordering food online. Throughout Europe, online ordering is capturing 56 percent of the market in Sweden and 43 percent in Austria. In India, online food ordering is expected to reach close to $12m(US)by 2023.
While there is a trend towards bring-in and order-in food, as well as dining out, the kitchen is still a core in home life. Food & Wine cited a survey in 22 countries asking about cooking habits. 38 At the lower end were South Koreans, who spent just 3.7 hours per week cooking. People in India were at the top with 13.2 hours per week spent in the kitchen.
Simply being in the kitchen, cooking and eating with other people, can have healthy benefits. Regardless of its size, the kitchen is a warm and inviting place. 39 The difference is, now you can follow a recipe on your iPad while cooking.
It’s true that impersonal appliances are connecting to each other and to us. Refrigerators order vegetables. Cooktop hoods with sensors turn on by themselves. While technology and our expectations for the kitchen are shape-shifting in real time, the fundamentals remain the same. 40
A. So is cooking a way to express yourself
B. The global average was almost 6.5 hours.
C. But is our relationship to the kitchen changing
D. It’s like gathering around a campfire in the past.
E. People seem to be spending less time cooking worldwide.
F. Now more of them are eating outside the home more frequently.
G. The kitchen is where we connect with food and company in the soul of the home.

The heavy rain beat down on the sidewalk as Leo rushed past his favorite café. Near the cafe’s damp brick wall, he noticed Ms. Parks sitting alone — the elderly woman who usually smiled at passersby, despite her worn-out shoes and a single bag holding all her belongings. Her lips looked dry as she quietly watched the rain. A cold rain drop slid down Leo’s neck. “Kindness costs nothing,” his late grandmother’s voice came to his mind.
He stopped. His fingers tightened around his umbrella handle. Turning back, he pushed open the café door. He bought two coffees. Stepping out, he went to Ms. Parks. “Have a cup of coffee. This might help warm you up,” he said, holding out the steaming cup. Ms. Parks’s face brightened as she accepted it. “Thank you! you are so kind,” she replied.
That simple act lit a spark. The next day, Leo prepaid five “suspended coffees” at the café — drinks anyone can get for free. Soon a “Suspended Coffee” sign appeared in the café. Within weeks, the idea spread, and more people followed in his steps.
For a while, things went well. Ms. Parks came by often for a free coffee. But before long, someone whispered, “She’s always taking, never giving.” Leo’s heart sank when Ms. Parks stopped showing up. One evening, he came across her in a bus stop. She looked away shyly when she saw him. “I don’t want to cause trouble,” she said softly, her voice breaking. At that moment, he realized though well-meaning, the “suspended coffee” system wasn’t enough. His good intentions had unintentionally made Ms. Parks feel ashamed.
Determined to address the problem, Leo made some changes. The “Suspended Coffee” sign remained, but new words appeared below, “Bring a gift if you can — a used book, spare gloves, a story, a song, or even a smile to others. This is about sharing, not charity.”

Dear Editor,
I hope this email finds you well. I would like to suggest inviting our British exchange students to contribute articles to the school English newspaper.
This initiative would provide them with an opportunity to share their experiences, cultural insights, and impressions of our school. It would also help our students better understand British culture and improve their English skills. Moreover, such articles would promote cross-cultural communication and strengthen the bond between our students and the exchange students.
I believe this would be a meaningful addition to our school newspaper. Thank you for your consideration.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua
67.大作文范文:
Leo’s new rules worked. Ms. Parks was among the first to return. With a used book in her hand, she walked into the café with a smile. People who used to take the suspended coffees started bringing small gifts too. A young man donated a pair of warm gloves, and an old lady shared a beautiful song. The café was filled with a sense of community. Ms. Parks no longer felt ashamed but proud to be a part of this sharing circle. Leo was glad to see that his change had turned the “suspended coffee” into a real sharing event.
The café, filled with Leo’s kindness, attracted attention. Media came to report this heartwarming story. More cafes in the city began to follow the model. The “suspended coffee” with the new sharing concept spread like wildfire. People from all walks of life joined in, bringing different kinds of gifts. It wasn’t just about free coffee anymore; it was about building connections and showing kindness. Leo was happy to see that his small act of kindness had grown into a big movement that was making the world a better place.

高 二 英 语 听力录音文稿
【命题组织单位:辽宁沈文新高考研究联盟】
Part1.听力试音文稿
Is watching sports good for your wellbeing
If you’re a sports fan, you may be familiar with the emotional rollercoaster that comes with sports spectatorship. Whether you’re part of a buzzing crowd in a stadium, or just watching at home on TV, it’s easy to get caught up in the highs and the lows when you celebrate or commiserate with your favourite team or athlete. Those feelings are so strong, in fact, that a study from Croatia, published in PubMed, showed that the emotional stress during a football match increased the risk of a cardiovascular incident. But can watching sports be good for you too
The evidence suggests that people who watch live sporting events experience greater wellbeing than those who don’t. A study published in Frontiers in Public Health by the Anglia Ruskin University in the UK, found sports spectators felt less lonely and had higher scores for life satisfaction. Lead author Helen Keys said in a press release, “watching live sport of all types provides many opportunities for social interaction and this helps to forge group identity and belonging.” She says this then reduces loneliness and boosts wellbeing.
But, if for any reason you aren’t keen on going to live events, don’t worry! Watching sports on TV or on the internet may also have positive effects, according to a 2021 study by Tsuji and colleagues. They found that older adults who watched sports were less likely to have depressive symptoms than those who didn’t. On top of that, the sports spectators tended to have richer social networks than non-spectators. The authors suggest that the social networks you gain through watching sports may lower the risk of depressive symptoms.
So, the cheers at a live sports event or even casual chit-chat with friends about your favourite team can bring a sense of camaraderie and may reduce loneliness and depression. It seems the health benefits of sports are not limited to physical activity through participation in them, but that we can make gains in our general wellbeing through social bonding.

1. M: You look quite busy today. Need any help
W: Thanks. But this is part of my job. We’ve had many patients this morning checking temperatures, administering medication and assisting with lab tests. The doctors also rely on us to monitor the patients closely. After surgeries.
M: It sounds intense. I am wondering how you manage.
2. W: Hi Tom, you look a bit down. What’s wrong
M: Oh, it’s this math test. I studied really hard, but I just don’t think I did well. I made some stupid mistakes, some hard to believe mistakes during the test. I was aiming for a high score.
W: Don’t be too hard on yourself. Maybe it’s not as bad as you think.
3. W: Tom, the teacher said our English drama performance plan lacks innovation. She wants us to make it more engaging.
M: Oh no, we’ve spent so much time on it. What can we do Maybe we should have a group discussion to share ideas to make it better.
4. W: Hi there. I noticed you moving boxes just moved in
M: Yes, we arrived yesterday. The house next door with the red door. That’s ours.
W: Welcome. I’m Lisa from number twelve. Let me know if you need help setting in.
5. M: These two jackets look similar, but the blue one is 20% off today. What do you think
W: Emm. The black one has a better fabric and it’s warmer, but the discount on the blue one is a good deal.
M: True, I need something for winter trips. Maybe the black one is worth the extra cost.
6~7.
M: The air conditioner in the living room isn’t working again. I tried pressing every button on the remote, but it’s just blowing warm air.
W: Um, not this problem again. Last time dad said the fan blades were full of dirt. Maybe we should check it first.
M: I already cleaned the fan blades yesterday. Maybe the control board is broken.
W: If it’s the control board, we can’t fix it ourselves. Why don’t you call that technician from the community service center They repaired ours last summer.
M: Good idea. I’ll check their number online. Can you pass me the laptop on the sofa

W: Good morning, sir, how can I assist you today
M: Hi, my flight to Tokyo was scheduled for eleven AM, but I just saw a delayed notice on the screen. Will this affect my connection in Tokyo
W: Let me check. What’s your final destination
M: Sydney. I’m supposed to transfer to JL 203 at 3:00 p.m. Tokyo time after this Shanghai to Tokyo flight.
W: Hmm, the delay is about ninety minutes. Your stopover in Tokyo would be cut to just 45 minutes. That’s too tight for international transfers.
M: Oh no, what should I do
W: Don’t worry. I can rebook you on a later Sydney flight VIA Singapore instead. It leaves at 2:30 p.m. and arrives earlier than your original plan.
M: Perfect.

M: Hi Sarah, have you heard about the recent space exploration mission NASA has just launched a new spacecraft to explore mars.
W: Yes, I did, it’s exciting, right The spacecraft is supposed to collect samples from the surface of mars and help scientists better understand the planet’s history
M: Exactly. And I heard that it would be a multi year mission. It could bring back data to answer some of the biggest questions about the possibility of life on mars.
W: That’s amazing. I think this mission could be a big step forward in our exploration for knowledge about space.
M: Yeah, and the spacecraft is equipped with advanced tools like a drill to collect samples from deeper layers of the Martian soil.
W: That sounds incredible. Imagine what kind of discovery They might make about the history of water on mars.
M: Absolutely. And some scientists believe this could bring us closer to understanding whether mars ever supported life.

W: Have you heard the news about the new environmental policy being carried out in our city They’re introducing a ban on single use plastic
M: Yes I did. It’s a great step toward reducing pollution. I think it will encourage people to use reusable materials more often.
W: Absolutely, and they’re also going to start a recycling program to make it easier for residents to separate waste.
M: That’s fantastic. I think it’s a positive change and I hope other cities follow this example.
W: I agree. I’ve read that plastic pollution is one of the biggest environmental challenges, so this is definitely a step in the right direction.
M: Definitely, I think the key is getting people to adopt these habits. If everyone starts reducing plastic use and recycling properly, it can have a huge impact.
