Feeling that she was getting out of shape, Nancy was desperate to exercise. So she got a gym membership near her home, and went there by bike. One morning she slept in and it was foggy outside. When turning onto a side road in the suburbs, she found herself in the dark. Then without warning, her bike hit a rock, throwing her to the ground, face down. She screamed in pain and lay motionless for a while. Fortunately, an elderly fellow stopped and grabbed her tightly by the arm. Helped to her feet, she found her left ankle sprained and swollen. Her right leg was cut and bleeding. She panicked, but the fellow wasted no time and called an ambulance without delay. Then he washed her cut with some bottled water, wrapped it with a loose clean cloth, easing her discomfort. She swallowed her fear, and thanked him for his practical first-aid techniques in a choked voice. Soon the ambulance came, and she was urgently taken to hospital.
