Enjoy the world, love our life
Hello, I’m Millie. Today I want to share my thoughts on traveling. Last summer in Guilin, I was amazed by the Li River’s karst mountains. A bamboo boat tour showed me landscapes that inspired poets for years. Meeting a local girl taught me to make rice noodles, breaking cultural barriers.
Travel changed me. I used to fear strangers, but now I cherish every encounter. It lets me find beauty in small things—a stranger’s smile or sunlight through leaves.
So go out and discover! The world’s best stories aren’t just in books—they’re on every road you take.

That cold January night, I was growing tired of my life in San Francisco. There I was walking home at one in the morning after a tiring practice at the theatre. I was having trouble with my part-time job at the bank and my acting at night at the same time. As I walked, I thought seriously about giving up both acting and San Francisco. City life had become too much for me.
As I walked down empty streets under tall buildings, I felt very small and cold. I began running, both to keep warm and to keep away from any possible robbers. Very few people were still out except a few sad-looking homeless people under blankets.
As I was getting close to my flat, I heard a sound behind me. I turned quickly, half expecting to see someone with a knife or a gun. The street was empty. All I saw was a shining streetlight. Still, the noise made me nervous, so I started to run faster. When I got home, I realized what the noise was. It was my wallet falling to the sidewalk (人行道).
Suddenly I wasn’t cold or tired any more. I ran out of the door and back to the place. I searched the sidewalk anxiously (焦急地) for fifteen minutes, but I didn’t find my wallet.
Just as I was going to give up the search, I heard a garbage truck stopped next to me. When a voice called from the inside, “Kerman Camacho ” I thought I was dreaming. How could this man know my name The door opened, and out jumped a small red-haired man with a cheerful look in his eyes. “Is this what you’re looking for ” he asked, holding up a wallet.
It was nearly 3 a. m. by the time I got into bed. I wouldn’t get much sleep that night, but I had got my wallet back. I also had got back some enjoyment of city life. I realized that the city couldn’t be a bad place if people were willing to help each other.

But what made it truly special was how it shone in the darkness of the attic, and in the most magical way. What’s more, the book was actually floating in the air.
She took the book down to her room. She had just started to read it when her dog started speaking to her, “What an interesting book you’ve found!”
Peggy couldn’t believe it, but the dog continued talking, and asking a thousand questions. After some time, Peggy asked, “So how come you’re talking ” “I don’t know,” answered the dog. “Instead of just thinking about things, now I’m saying them too; I guess it was the book that did it, though.”
Peggy decided to do some research on the matter, and she thought she would show the book to some other animals. One after another, the animals all started talking, and before long, Peggy was chatting with three cats and a parrot. All of them had some interesting stories to tell!
One day, the book disappeared and the animals’ voices went with it. Peggy looked everywhere, but couldn’t find that book.
Within a few days, she was missing the chats with her animal friends so much that she could hardly think of anything else.
Then she realized that she hardly spoke at all to her schoolmates, and they probably also had some interesting stories to tell!
So, from that day on, little by little, Peggy started talking more to her schoolmates, trying to find out about their life. In the end, she came to have more friends than anyone else in the whole world.
One day, when Peggy walked in the school garden with her good friend. The magic book appeared in front of her all of a sudden. Full of joy, Peggy said excitedly to the old book: “Dear book, nice to meet you again. Now, I live a happy life and really want to thank you for _________ and _________.”
