Teaching aims and demands:
Master the new words and phrases in this section .
Master the sentence patters “I’m sure …” and “Are you sure …?”
Talk about the advantages and disadvantages of robots .
Teaching procedure:
Step1 Warming- up and leading
Show a picture on the screen and ask “What’s this ?” and help students answer “It’s a robot” Teacher asks “Do you know anything about robot ?” ,then play a video of robots.
T:Now could you tell me something about robots? The students may answer in different ways.
Step2 Presentation
1. T: Look at the pictures on the screen , what can robots do for us ?
Ss: Robots can save people in danger.
T: Are you sure ?
S: Yes, I’m sure robots can save people in danger .

2.Ss read the phrases in Part 2 together :
save people in danger repair the machines lift parts of trucks carry heavy things
mend roads catch fish
Step3 Listening
listen to the recording and number the pictures .
Check the answers with the students .
Step4 Practice
Listen to the tape of 1a and answer the questions.
Listen again and fill in the blanks .
Check the answers with the students.
Read 1a and write down the advantages of robots.
Step 5 Consolidation
Ask students to find out the difficulties , the help them solve the problems.
Ss read after the tape.
Ss read together.
Step6 Group work
Ss discuss the advantages and disadvantages in group of 4, then ask some Ss to report the results.
Step6 Project
Ss make a similar conversation after the example and act it out.
Step7 Summary
Ask Ss to sum up what they have learnt today.
Step8 Homework
Review Section A, finish the work in WB.
Make 5 sentences with “I’m sure …”
Write a passage about the robots according to the discussion in class.
