Ⅰ. Teaching aims and demands
1. Continue to learn comparative and superlative degrees of adjectives
2. Learn to talk about their favorite by using the comparative and superlative degrees of adjectives.
(1)-- Which do you like better, plants or animals?
-- I like animals better.
(2)I like cats best because they are cuter than other animals.
Lead students to enhance the sense of loving nature and the awareness of protecting animals and plants.

Ⅲ. Teaching procedures
Step 1 Review
Review the comparative and superlative degrees of adjectives.
Step 2 Presentation
Show some pictures, let students write down the words according to the sounds. Then talk about their favorite animal. Lead to the new lesson.
T: Which do you like better, plants or animals?
S: I like ... better.
T: What kind of animal do you like best? Why?
S: I like ... best. Because.....
Listen to 1a and answer two questions.
(1)Which does Michael like better, plants or animals?
(2)What does Maria like?
3. Listen to 1a again and match the people with the things they like and their reasons. Finish 1b.
4. Read 1a again and fill in the blanks. Finish 1c then read 1c together.
Step 3 Consolidation
Read 1a after the tape , imitating the pronunciation and intonation. Pay attention to t he pause in each sentences.
Ask students to find the sentences using the comparative and superlative degrees of adjectives.
Explain the key points in 1a.
Step 4 Practice
Work in pairs and make up conversation about animals. Then act it out.
For example:
A:Which do you like better, ____ or ____?
B:I like____ better.
A: Why do you like them?
B: Because they are/ can ______.
What about you?
A: I like _____ best. Because they are/ can___.
Step 5 Sum up
Step 6 Homework:
(1) Finish the exercises in the workbook.
(2) Preview Section C.
