Loud cheers and laughter filled the hall at St. Paul High School. Everyone was excited because Professor LeBlane from a famous university was putting on an amazing science show!
Two student volunteers stepped forward. The professor gave each of them a metal half-ball with a handle(把手). When the two halves were put together, they formed a round metal ball. There was a small air valve(阀门) on one half. The professor got the air out of the ball, then closed the valve.
