If you truly want to live, you need to get out and see the world. Traveling and living different adventures may become your favorite lifestyle. Here is a brief introduction about the top three destinations to visit in the world.
Paris
First on the list is Paris, France. For some people, this shouldn’t be a surprise. For others, they might consider Paris overrated as it has a reputation for being dirty. Any major city in the world might be thought to be dirty by anyone not living in a city. It comes with the territory. The reason Paris is at the top of this list is not because of its famous attractions but because of its charm. You can spend the day walking around cobblestone streets and enjoy elegant cafes and high-end shopping. When you finish satisfying your appetite, you can relax on the banks of the Seine River.
Glacier National Park
Glacier National Park comes in second on the list. It is located in Montana, America. It will be well worth the effort thanks to snow-capped mountains, crystal blue lakes, seventy miles of hiking trails, and thirteen camping areas. If you visit during the summer, you can go swimming or white-water rafting. If you visit during the winter, you can go skiing or snowshoeing. But the real allure (诱惑力) and what you will always remember is the breathtaking scenery and fresh mountain air.
Bora Bora
The reason Bora Bora is the third on this list is that it’s expensive, which could limit your other travel plans. If you do make it to this small island paradise, you will find peaceful beaches, jungles, luxury accommodations, turquoise water, and some of the friendliest people you have ever met.
Other vacation destinations that should be on your list if you’re living the adventurous lifestyle include London, the South Island of New Zealand, Maui, Tahiti, Tokyo, Barcelona and New York City.

Sidney Keys, 14-year-old, has started a youth-led book club program, with the support and help of his mom, to help empower (给予...力量) both himself and many other boys with mental or physical problems through literature.
“I used to have a really bad stutter (结巴) and perform badly in school and I would get laughed at for it,” Sidney Keys, the founder of the book club Books N Bros said. “Reading was kind of my escape from my stutter because in my head I was able to imagine things and play out all the events clearly.” He said,“I wanted to start up Books N Bros so that I could talk to other people, especially boys, about books I love in a relaxing way because it’s like a brotherhood.”
The reading club that he started at just 10 years old now has over 250 “bros” aged 7 to 13 from the U.S. and Canada, most of whom are changing actively and positively. Marvels Hero Project, which reveals (展示) the remarkable, positive change young men make in their communities across the country and turns them into superheroes, selected Keys to be featured in the Disney series.
“I always wanted to read books that had characters that looked like me, but now I see a comic book with me in it,” Keys said.“It’s unbelievable that my friends and teachers all call me my superhero name.”
As for the future of Books N Bros Keys and his mom hope to expand the programs reach throughout the country.“Getting Books N Bros in schools across America, we don’t want transportation to be an issue for getting that physical brotherhood and bond. It just benefits so many people, and it keeps me going,” Keys explained.

How much food do you buy each week Are you someone who stuffs your fridge and cupboards full of foods so that you’ll always have something to eat Or maybe, you’ re more efficient with your shopping, only buying what you need and using up your leftovers so that you keep food waste to a minimum.
Throwing away unwanted food has become a big issue in the developed world. While some of us throw away unwanted items, people in other parts of world face food shortages and are starving. It’s a shocking fact that a third of the world’s food is wasted each year. The actual figure is 1.3 billion tons of food, which is enough to feed a billion hungry people.
You may think supermarkets are the main contributors to this mountain of food. After all, they do get rid of stuff that’s past its sell-by-date and they often refuse to sell vegetables and fruit that are the wrong shape or look damaged. They’ve also been criticized for encouraging customers to buy more than they need through promotions such as “buy one and get one free”.
But we ourselves are mainly responsible for creating food waste. In Europe an incredible 53% of food waste comes from households, which results in 88 million tonnes of food waste a year. The food waste is buried and left to rot. Unfortunately, this causes greenhouse gases which eventually lead to global warming and climate change.
In Denmark, a woman called Selina Juul has been working hard to solve this problem. She convinced some supermarkets to stop selling their items in bulk (批量) so that people bought only what they needed. She produced a leftovers cookbook and she's set up an education programme in schools. This has helped create a significant 25% reduction in food waste, which shows that something can be done.
Clearly, we need to think twice when we put something in our shopping trolley, and when we’re at home, we should make the most of the food we have—using recipes that use up our leftovers or even sharing our food with our friends and neighbors.
8. What does the author intend to show in paragraph 2
A. The world hunger. B. The impact of wasting food.
C. The solutions to food shortages. D. The severe food waste.
9. Why are supermarkets criticized according to the text
A. They often change the prices of food.
B. They focus more on food's looks than qualities.
C. They make people buy more food than they need.
D. They often put up false advertisements for food.
10. What did Selina Juul do to help reduce the food waste
A. She established an education programme in neighborhoods.
B. She persuaded supermarkets to change their ways of sale.
C. She convinced supermarkets to sell her leftovers cookbook.
D. She encouraged people to share food in communities.
11. What’s the main purpose of the text
A. To advocate healthy eating habits.
B. To raise the public’s awareness of saving.
C. To draw people's attention to food security.
D. To blame the marketing methods of some supermarkets.
D
Many of us wonder what lies in outer space. When we look up at the night sky, we see stars, the shinning of a moving satellite and occasionally a distant planet. But one thing we don’t see is the millions of pieces of junk filling up space. It’s this debris (残骸) that’s causing problems for the existing technology that’s up there and which we rely on.
The amount of space junk is increasing. Over the last few decades, satellites and rockets have been launched into space, littering the universe as they go. It’s estimated there are now millions of pieces of metal and other materials in orbit — everything from old rocket to accidentally dropped astronaut tools, and even bits of paint.
The fear is that if we don’t start taking this litter out of the sky soon, it will become a significant threat to active satellites. Nobu Okada, Chief Executive of Astroscale — a company working on ways to clean up space junk — says hitting “even a small piece of paint… has enough power to blow up other satellites.”
Several ideas are being looked at to collect the debris floating around in space. In2018, the Remove Debris spacecraft carried out various experiments, including testing a net that could follow a satellite and firing a harpoon (叉) at a target in orbit to try to catch it.
This year the UK Space Agency is helping to fund new approaches to tracking satellites and debris in space. Jacob Geer from UKSA told the BBC: “Space surveillance (监控) and tracking is one of the key things we can do to keep safe those satellites we rely on now, and to make sure certain orbits don’t become inaccessible for future generations because there’s too much debris in them.”
It’s clear that a solution is needed so a deep clean can take place. But looking to the future, like any litter problem, we need to look at ways of creating less — and that shouldn’t be the stuff of science fiction.
12. What does the first paragraph say about space junk
A. It is something dangerous. B. Its influence has been undervalued.
C. It was left by astronauts on purpose. D. Its amount is becoming small recently.
13. Why did Nobu Okada mention a small piece of paint
A. To stress the significance of active satellites.
B. To introduce the plan of cleaning the debris.
C. To explain the difficulty in cleaning space junk.
D. To describe the damage space junk could bring.
14. What does the author want to tell us in Paragraph 4
A. The effort to remove space junk. B. The approach of space surveillance.
C. The importance of sending up satellites. D. The experiment of tracking spacecraft.
15. Which of the following could be the best title for the text
A. Space junk: satellites threat
B. Scientists’ exploration of outer space
C. Space surveillance: a way to keep space clean
D. New proof of space junk’s harm to the universe

Last month, it was my friend Emily’s birthday, and she invited us to her house to celebrate. I’m really excited because Emily always gives me special birthday gifts, so I want to do something good in return. I decided that, instead of just buying her a gift, I’d bake (烤) her a cake. I’m not a master in the kitchen, but how hard could it be to bake a simple chocolate cake
The day before the party, I went to the store to pick up everything I needed: flour (面粉) , sugar, eggs, and, of course, chocolate. I even bought a nice toy to make the cake look beautiful. I was feeling pretty confident.
When I got home, I started mixing everything together. It was going smoothly and the kitchen was filled with the sweet smell of baking. But then, disaster struck. I was rushing to get the cake finished, and in a hurry, I took the wrong bag. Without even thinking, I put in what I thought was sugar, but it was actually salt!
The cake looked perfect when it came out-golden brown with a shiny top. The smell was so amazing that I couldn't wait to show it at the party. I imagined everyone was surprised at my baking skills and how impressed Emily would be. But little did I know, my cake was about to become the most memorable birthday cake ever.
The next day, I arrived at Emily's party with the cake. The moment came when we cut the cake. Emily, being the birthday girl, was the first to taste the cake. She carefully cut a piece, and with a big smile, she took the first bite (咬) .

【答案】But then her expression changed. Trying hard not to laugh, she looked at me, with her eyes widening in disbelief, “Are you sure this is a cake ” I immediately took a bite myself. The moment the flavor hit my tongue, my heart dropped. I know something had gone terribly wrong and the entire room went dead silent. “I - uh - I think I used salt instead of sugar! ” I stammered, with my face turning bright red. Then as if planned, everyone burst out laughing.
Emily, however, quickly regained her composure (镇定) . “Thank you so much for making this cake, which made this birthday the most memorable one.” She winked at me, trying to make me feel better. I smiled, feeling grateful for her kindness and understanding. At that point, everyone who had been eagerly waiting for the cake rushed to try the salty surprise, all full of curiosity and excitement. I was soon involved in the cheerful atmosphere, realizing that true friendship is about accepting and supporting each other, even when things go wrong.
