Liu Zhizhuo is a college student. He is also a volunteer in the fight against desertification (沙漠化). He was one of the “Most Beautiful Chinese College Students” last year.
Since 2016, Liu has been growing plants in Minqin. There are deserts everywhere. In that summer, after a long journey, Liu and eight of his schoolmates arrived there for the first time.

An Experience of Making Progress
Dear teachers and fellow students. I’m here to share one of my experiences of making progress.
When I entered high school, I found everybody else in my class was good at English except me. I had a small vocabulary and had difficulty understanding the passages. However, I didn’t lose heart. I went to my English teacher, who advised me to use a dictionary while reading and try to get what the passages conveyed to me. I worked harder, following the teacher’s advice. Gradually, I felt better while reading and began to find English interesting.
Now I have already caught up with my classmates. This experience gives me a better understanding of the saying: Nothing is too difficult to a willing heart.
